Where I used to look forward to the Fairmont experience it has been replaced by L’Accor’s rigid policies and lack of service. And I am a Platinum guest… stay away! It is a disappointing change from the Fairmont experience. And they don’t care. Tripled the rates for 1/2 the value. So sad!

We stayed as Gold member in this hotel and were pleasantly surprised. The 7th-floor cafe was modern and inviting, with contemporary design elements, and the staff was very professional. The patio and garden are beautiful with scenic views of the city. Our room was quite comfortable, and there were plenty of amenities to ensure we felt right at home. The breakfast and snacks served on the 7th floor were delicious. We couldn't have been happier with our stay here!

Great hotel and staff. Everyone is accommodating and helpful. We stayed in the Gold Floor and we loved the room. The bed is comfortable , and the pillows are super comfy. I got a personalized card and cake for my birthday. This made our day more meaningful.

Really enjoyed our stay. Room was great with a nice view of river. The bar had a great selection of signiature drinks. Gold floor breakfast was good. Gardens outside were in bloom and a great place to watch the river in the evenings. Would stay here again.

Staff was super friendly, well appointed room with a very nice view. Because I am an All silver member, we got three welcome drinks, which was very nice. Spa is okay. It could be fancier like the rest of the hotel.

Good stay. nice room. No view on second floor Expensive but nice Enjoyed the brunch. Expensive for a brunch but lots of variety and excellent prime rib. Patio was beautiful. drinks are pricey. All in all a nice experience

Fairmont Hotels are our brand of choice. We have never stayed at the Fairmont MacDonald but were excited to stay here. It was everything we expect from a Fairmont - historic lobby, unique rooms and excellent customer service. I will comment that the valet and front desk staff were the friendliest I have encountered at Fairmont properties. Our room was good and had a nice view of the river. My only comment was I thought it odd, but the room doors didn't seem to have soft closers on them so they would slam. Otherwise, everything was fantastic, the location is great, and we would stay here again while visiting Edmonton.

Not satisfied according to what we upgraded. Did not get the service we upgraded for There was splatter of blood on the sheets The nice thing they did was have roses on the bed and sweets for us Staff did not seem to be as friendly kind of judgemental. It was our first night after our wedding reception and we had high expectations as we had informed the hotel.

The Mac has a gorgeous historic building and a lovely view of the river valley, but parking is horrendous and the neighborhood is creepy at night. However, the Mac isn't really a Fairmont. That's because two Fairmont pillars are consistent quality service and super solving of problems. The Mac fails on both, as shown by the amazing number of negative reviews. Some staff are superb, but others have learnt consequences are minimal if they aren't. So enjoy the gorgeous building and, if you're lucky, nothing will mar your visit. But if things go wrong, don't expect resolution most Fairmonts excel at. This one doesn't.

I booked an overnight stay in a one bedroom suite at the Fairmont this past weekend to get my son installed into Lister Centre at the University of Alberta. I had previously stayed at the Hotel MacDonald for a conference within the past five years, and also did my postgraduate training at the U of A, so I was very familiar with the property. Our room was reasonably spacious and had a nice southerly view of the North Saskatchewan River. The Edmonton river valley is still amazing after all of these years. Our room definitely was showing its age, nice enough but looking worn. The front desk staff were as usual pleasant and very helpful, as was the staff that helped set up the pullout sofa for my children. We paid for valet parking to keep our son's valuables in the car, protected within the hotel's valet marking (its a bit pricey - $50 for overnight valet parking).
