Just stayed the one night prior to moving on to Banff, the check in guy appeared distracted and somewhat disinterested and could have been more helpful in advising how the lift card works, you have to hold it against the reader for several seconds, not just tap it, if it wasn’t for other guests we would have had to return to reception The room was of a good size , well furnished and the bed comfortable, our window had a good view of the Calgary tower...

...For those reviews commenting on room and bathroom size, you have to keep in mind this hotel was opened in 1914. It is historic and I don't think I have ever stayed in the same room configuration twice - it is part of the charm and it is interesting to think that people have been staying in this room for 11 generations... If you want a cookie-cutter room, there are several other hotels in the area...

Once through, I was shocked to see my room(#902) which was in 1 extreme corner and not a Junior suite for sure... The room was extremely cramped, no proper instructions on how to connect to Wifi, or the amenities with the room... Totally not worth for $670 per night...

...We were here for a total of 2 nights and once pulled up out the front, checked in and were offered a room upgrade which we accepted. After checking in we were told there is no car parking at the hotel but to park in a multistory car park at the end of the block which does connect up through a business block then onto the hotel, it is very confusing and quite a walk when you have suitcases in toe (took about 10 mins to get from the car to the hotel as you have to go up an down lifts to different levels too) Eventually we get to our room which in itself is lovely and no complaints about it as it is was large (due to upgrade) and clean... The main issue was at night, we were on the 11 floor and found that there is a train line directly outside 1 side of the hotel which trains come through all hours of the night which kept us up most of the night, we were not informed of this when checking in, so we requested a change in rooms to the other side of the hotel which was quieter but we were still charged for the room upgrade on the 2nd night which is pretty mean of the htel considering it was there issue to start with... Would advise find another hotel at a better price...

Our family stayed in this hotel in June 2022. Good rest was imperative for our family and we specifically asked for a quiet room... The hotel staff decided to do their worst... To start with, they put us into an adjoining room separated by a simple wooden door with big holes around it... So, you can hear any sound from another room... Then, the hotel staff decided to put into the adjoining room a person with a guitar – a brilliant decision based on our request for a quiet room...

...It charged me for items in the 'refreshment centre' (I'm assuming that is another way to say 'fridge'), that I did not have - including red wine and Hennessey... I did not eat/drink any of the items, nor did I take out any of the items so I was very confused why I was charged for those two items... I had to call the hotel in order to receive a refund, and to be honest, after paying $300+ for one night and then having to go through the trouble and effort after my stay of asking to not be falsely charged is highly unacceptable... Unfortunately the fridge is filled with items that myself (and likely a great number of other guests) will not purchase... It is a shame that it is filled with items to purchase, because if I was staying longer than one night, I would have no where to put my own items... If the Fairmont wants to fill the fridge with purchasable items, they should provide another fridge for the customer to use for personal items... For a hotel that prides themselves on a 5 star experience, that was quite a disappointment for myself and my partner...

Considering this is a fairmont and 4* we had high expectations coming here as it was our last hotel in Canada before we flew back to the UK and found this to be very short of what we expected... Only other comment is that they also charge $15 a day for wifi which i get for free on lower * hotels which is a rip off... Overall it is an old hotel that does show its age in places and for the price we paid it should be offering more!... Would advise find another hotel at a better price...

...Staying at the lovely Fairmont Palliser is always wonderful, but staying at the Gold level is an even greater experience and well worth the extra expense. The Gold Lounge’s inviting atmosphere with its complimentary hot breakfast, little treats such as cookies and/or candy in the afternoon and the delicious evening hors d’oeuvres more than make up for the extra cost... Over and above all that the Gold Lounge offers in terms of food and drink, however, is the excellent service that the Gold level staff provides... All of the staff here at the Fairmont Gold level in the Palliser always go above and beyond to make me - or us when my husband is with me - feel so very welcome and appreciated!... From little extras such as chocolate treats and a note in our room to the occasional big surprise such as an upgrade to a suite, the fantastic staff always makes our stay special... Great big thanks to both the past and present members of the Gold staff who all excel at their job... Currently the Gold staff consists of the following excellent individuals: Kathy, Jill, Oksana, Jameson, Cecilia, Corinne, Neha and Vanessa... (…and best of luck to Jameson who leaves the Gold family soon to start his new career as a Calgary Firefighter!)...

I cannot praise the dedication and kindness of the staff enough. From the moment I stepped onto the property I felt like and honored guest... Concerned about ana online meeting in the morning, I upgraded to Fairmont Gold for $100... The 5:00 cocktail hour in the Fairmont Gold was fabulous and and served as my dinner... The breakfast was even better with a wide selection of eggs, meats, waffles, fruits, breads, cereals, oatmeal, yogurt, juices, cheese... But the best part of my stay was how nice, friendly, and helpful everyone was at the hotel (even giving me a late checkout when my meeting ran a little long)...

Duing our stay we thoroughly enjoyed the amenities of the gold floor lounge as we completed course work... We also treated ourselves many times to the pool area and visited the R'n'R spa... Without a doubt, the best customer service we have EVER received from ANY hotel we have ever stayed in. Nothing was too much trouble during our stay, the care, professionalism and understanding of what constitutes outstanding customer service was displayed by every member of staff... I had room service every day for breakfast and the quality of food and the service was excellent... Well worth it for the value I received!... We realized after check-in that the room was too small for our needs (family with a small child) and the manager, Kathy, was incredibly helpful. She found us the right room and shared some good activities for our daughter (great pool!)... I received a second receipt the day after my stay at the Fairmont Palliser. It charged me for items in the 'refreshment centre' (I'm assuming that is another way to say 'fridge'), that I did not have - including red wine and Hennessey... If the Fairmont wants to fill the fridge with purchasable items, they should provide another fridge for the customer to use for personal items... ...Good rest was imperative for our family and we specifically asked for a quiet room. The hotel staff decided to do their worst... To start with, they put us into an adjoining room separated by a simple wooden door with big holes around it... Then, the hotel staff decided to put into the adjoining room a person with a guitar – a brilliant decision based on our request for a quiet room... When we were there, the waiter was clearly busy with more important clients than with us – he barely talked to us and was around some particular people... He showed up 15 minutes later, and was not pleased that we hadn’t paid yet... To summarize, even if it’s a super expensive hotel, don’t expect any good service and good rest – their staff is careless...

...The towels were nowhere near the quality I’d expect in a 5-star hotel – they were rather thin and not quite white... They gave us a coupon for a glass of sparkling wine or a dessert for our anniversary, which we appreciated... The concierges didn’t seem to know much... When we asked about things to do they steered us to shopping and restaurants, never telling us about Fort Calgary, the free train throughout downtown, the Glenbow Museum or Studio Bell (the Canadian National Music Centre)... When we asked about transportation to the airport, she had to Google it to find out!... One night the elevators weren’t working for over an hour – and they spent lots of time trying to open stairwells for people to use... They finally got 1 elevator working, but really didn’t seem to have good contingency plans...

The main entrance to this hotel is quite impressive and so is the dining and foyer area. However the room are quite antiquated, tiny, beds are too soft, pillows have absolutely no support, the showers are so tiny a 6ft2" person barely fits and then the water pressure was abysmal... We came to Calgary to see family and freinds and booked a couple nights at the Fairmont Palliser as a treat... When we arrived Jill at the front desk welcomed us with a big smile and a complimentary room upgrade!... Our room view was from the 10 th floor and looked right up centre street!... We came down for a drink and to eat ; Sara in the bar sent over the local beer ( nice) stopped by for a laugh and we enjoyed family time... Thursday we went out to Major Toms for more views and a fancy cocktail and when we returned to hotel, Alex asked about our day and offered a complimentary bubbly in the hotel lobby... She made us smile every time we walked through the lobby... Many staff were helpful and funny and kind and I don’t have all the names but we felt special and pampered ...

...The renovations in the lobby that date to a few years ago, continue to look fresh and with the times. Hawthorne is a beautiful room with one of the cosiest fireplaces... We were staying on the Gold Floor and had been upgraded from the original room category... The room was beautiful, large, and perfect for a longer stay with enough space for our clothes and kugga and to feel comfortable... The Gold Floor team was more than welcoming and always very serviable... The Gold Floor is an ideal space to spend some time playing cards, getting some work done, and just have a cocktail... The pool is also a fun diversion... The Palliser is undoubtedly the best hotel in Calgary!...

Hotel's Favorite
My daughter and I just enjoyed a quick 2-day getaway at the Palliser this weekend and all I can say is WOW. For two seconds of backstory, my husband and I are expecting our 4th baby in March (yes, you read that right) and so before I’m once again up to my eyeballs in diapers and milk cloths, my 8-year-old and I thought it would be fun to have one last fancy hurrah somewhere close to home. From the moment we walked into the hotel we knew we were somewhere special. The ambiance, the décor… all beautifully ornate yet still very comforting. What really impressed me the most was the unforgeable service we received throughout our stay, especially on the Gold Floor. Simply put, we were treated like family. Karandeep in reception and Kathy in the Gold Lounge were two of the most welcoming and accommodating individuals that I have ever met in the service industry. A sincere thanks to both of you for making our stay unforgettable. I also wanted to thank Neha (the Fairmont Gold supervisor) for upgrading us to such an extraordinary room. The Heritage Suite is truly a room fit for a king or queen… and by some miracle we got to stay in there as well. If you haven’t seen pictures online, I implore you to look them up… because no words can truly do it justice. I suppose the only downside to all of this is that after staying is such an amazing suite, everything else now looks second best. Thanks for ruining us!! But moreso, thank you all so much for such a memorable weekend – till next time!

Lovely slightly old fashioned hotel in down town Calgary. Right next to the Calgary tower. Good location for the airport shuttle bus and tour bus pick up. The en-suite bathroom was rather cramped, at least it had a small bath and a shower. Impossible for both of us to use the bathroom at the same time. Very clean, well presented and really comfy bed. Room was on the front, set in so not noisy at all, even with one of the windows open at night for fresh air. Our friends were given a room at the back of the hotel looking over the railroad tracks which they said was noisy at night. Very tasty breakfast, good service but expensive for what it was. Would stay here again for the location but eat out locally.

Stayed here for Thanksgiving Long Weekend which was also our Anniversary. We have stayed at many Fairmont hotels but this was our first stay at the Pallisar. We enjoyed our stay on the Gold Floor. Our room was spacious and clean. Upon arrival we found staff had made special arrangements to personalize our room for our anniversary. I truly appreciate the extra effort and details. Gold Floor lounge did not disappoint. They provided a wonderful variety of snacks and beaverages. It was also a comfortable place to relax. We didn’t have time this trip to use the spa so I cannot comment on that. The restaurant was ok. Not as impressive as other Fairmont restaurants. We typically spend our Thanksgiving/Anniversary weekend at a Fairmont and always look forward to Thanksgiving dinner. Thanksgiving dinner I have to sadly be honest and report was HORRIBLE! We didn’t complain as I felt bad for our waitress. All tables around us were complaining about the very small portion and it just wasn’t traditional. All courses were disappointing. I know the hotel and restaurant should be two different reviews but if you are looking at staying for Thanksgiving, I would recommend eating elsewhere. Other than that this hotel is lovey and I would book a stay here again.

The hotel is conveniently located. The experience was Consistent and Seamless as always is wigh Fairmont. Warm, Welcoming and Wonderful visit. The staff is wonderful and ready to assist you with a smile. (Except for the evening team which manages valet and guest luggage. Mostly was greeted by cold stare when entering back late evenings) The green and sustainablity initiative by the hotel is really commendable. Got a surprise room upgrade, which was nice. Definitely recommended.

The bed is very comfortable, and hotel is well located if you like to explore on foot. Literally right next door to the Calgary tower. They only offer valet parking, but you can save $$ if you park yourself (same parking lot) and take a short walk. The restaurant is over priced for what you get.
