This is a nice small hotel with a nice restaurant … actually based on the signages, it seems to be more a restaurant (Oxbow) with a hotel ;-) All the staffs we encountered were super helpful and friendly. The location was perfect for the artsy, walkable Kensington area of Calgary. One big downside is there is no dedicated place to stash the car on Memorial Drive while trying to check in. The attached under ground garage was in an alley way in the back without any sign indicating it is for the hotel. Once we figured that out, getting in and out was no more difficult than any other hotels we stayed in.

Fantastic little boutique hotel in a great location. As this hotel is quite small there is no gym or pool, but the excellent, personalized service more than makes up for that. The staff is nothing short of amazing. You are walking distance to shopping and restaurants in Kensington, but honestly the Oxbow restaurant is so good you will want to eat there. We ate there three out of four nights. It's THAT good. Nice wine selection too. Luxury room - entry level- no fridge but everything else you need. The still and sparkling water refreshed daily was a nice touch. The room was comfortable and nicely appointed. The continental breakfast is standard fare, but presented very nicely. We enjoyed it. We look forward to staying here again.

We were recommended by Canadian Surgical Solutions - Clearpoint to stay at Hotel Arts Kensington during my husband’s knee replacement surgery. They met our every request to make our stay comfortable with efficiency and kindness- providing a ground floor room, bath stool, fridge, kettle, frequent ice, specific timed room cleaning, installing a raised toilet seat and luggage handling arriving and departing. I can’t say enough good things about them all. The room was spacious with a lovely outdoor patio off it.

Everything shiny and new, very comfortable bed and gourmet (box) breakfast. Excellent service, staff was helpful. Good location for restaurants, and quite central. We got a ground floor room with an outside patio.

We Stayed at this hotel for one night which was a mistake. We called ahead about a secure parking spot for our vehicle {pick up} When we got there the spot was in back alley behind hotel. We did not feel comfortable with leaving the vehicle there after seeing what the neighborhood was like. Sure enough woke up to $2.000. in damages to vehicle and theft of items. The area is full of homeless people and obviously criminals. You wouldn't want to walk around area after dark. Will never stay there again. Manager would not even comp the room after the thieves cleaned us out.

Response from Colin Middleton, Owner at Hotel Arts Kensington
Responded Jul 12, 2021
Hello Greg R, We are truly sorry about what happened to your vehicle during your stay. It is very regrettable that your vehicle was targeted by thieves - over the 4 years I have been at this property this is the first such occasion of a guest vehicle being targeted in the back lane. We are able to accommodate vehicles up to 6'6" in our private underground parkade and unfortunately your vehicle would not fit, necessitating you to park outside. Please note that parking is always at owner's risk and it is generally advisable that valuables be removed from the vehicle when parking in publicly accessible areas of the city. While Kensington is typically a very safe neighborhood full of vibrant shops, lively restaurants and an active community that cares, thieves will take advantage when opportunity presents itself - no matter the area of the city. We would be truly grateful to welcome you back should you ever wish to return to Hotel Arts Kensington. Yours in hospitality, Colin Middleton Rooms Operations Manager
