Stayed at the hotel for a hockey tournament and had a small issue with our room not being included in the team rate. Navin at the front desk got us fixed up quickly and easily! We had breakfast at Colours and the variety was impressive. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Lots of options for food and bar space here. The room was in great shape for an older hotel. You can't beat an older hotel for the solid concrete build. Even with tons of kids staying there we hardly heard any noise. Even the elevators were fast. Lots of easy parking and quick access around the city. Will stay here again.

Attending/working at a conference in the hotel. Check in staff and banquet staff were great. Food was good. Hallways are noisy, early morning wasn't pleasant after a late night. Biggest surprise was a MOUSE TRAP behind the air conditioning/heating unit. Grossed me out. Never in my life have I experienced that in a hotel.

Response from Grant Erickson, Marketing at Sheraton Cavalier Calgary Hotel
Responded 3 weeks ago
Hi cjopba, Thanks for sharing your review on Trip Advisor, we appreciated having yourself and your fellow conference attendees with us. We appreciate the positive feedback surrounding our Front Desk and Banquet service teams as well as the food that was served during your visit. Please accept our apologies for the presence of the mouse trap. (While we had several floors closed for almost two years, placing these devices was recommended by our pest control provider. While we worked to remove all of the pest control devices upon re-opening floors, we will do our best to identify the room you occupied and ensure we remove that as soon as possible, as we do not have any current issues that would warrant the device remaining in place and would not want a guest to be in a position to be concerned during their stay as a result.) Thank you again for sharing your review on Trip Advisor and all the best for a great day. Grant Grant Erickson General Manager

Very old hotel. Outdated everything. They have newer furniture in the lobby. But the furniture in the rooms are outdated! They charge for pool use, even though it is nothing great. Nothing outstanding. And old. Needs a major Reno. Tiny screens in rooms. Not impressed with the small screens. Nothing to watch. They don’t want to pay for closed caption, I suppose!!

Hi X8094LKlaurat, Thank you for sharing your review on trip advisor. We appreciate your feedback and are pleased to share we are in process of procuring the new Marriott Guest Entertainment System, which we are confident will provide an experience that will address your concerns, including larger TVs. (This has been delayed due to supply chain issues, unfortunately, but we are working to implement the system as soon as possible.) In regards to our decor scheme, being a "traditional" flavor can give the appearance of being outdated, depending on what your preferences are. (Our photos on our website do reflect our current decor throughout the hotel.) While we are always disappointed when we do not exceed guest expectations, we do appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration as we make ongoing improvements to all aspects of our guest experience. Thank you again for sharing your review and all the best. Grant Grant Erickson General Manager

I stayed here for a night on my through Red Deer in January. I had stayed a previous time in the summer prior, and experienced a few issues which I won’t get into because I truly believe they were anomalies, and they were dealt with appropriately by management who invited me to return and stay again, which I took advantage of. Check in was fast and efficient and staff were friendly and recognized my titanium status. I was Upgraded to a large 1 bedroom suite, which was very spacious, with a sitting area, small table, and separate bathroom. The room was clean, the bed comfortable. The balcony is closed due to some admittedly haphazard looking cement. Pool / waterslide area was fun as usual. One waterslide was not on, but the kids had fun on the other one and in the pool. It does get crowded down there sometimes which is the only real negative. Breakfast buffet at colours was better than average, with normal hotel fare, but a good selection. Staff were very nice, and pleasant. Lots of free parking, covered and uncovered, and close to the airport and lots of restaurants, makes this an attractive stay, especially at the usual price point it’s at. A pretty good value proposition. Does it need some refurbishing? Yes. The common areas and parts of the room are by no means modern, but on this occasion it was clean, comfortable and not so bad that it detracts from the stay. Pros - large suite, comfortable bed, free parking Cons - starting to show its age, can get busy in water park

We showed up on New Years Eve 2023 @ 10AM, hoping to drop our baggage off in the room. Not expecting early check in the room was ready and clean! The check in was fast and efficient. we left during the day but returned in the evening. When we got back we went to the pool which was very busy, but well maintained. They even had a life guard on duty. They have a bar at the pool so you can charge drinks to your room. Great for family's doing an over night who want the best of both worlds. In the evening, we went to Henry's pub for some food and a couple drinks. The staff was so friendly and cheerful, and the food was fresh and fast. After that we moved into the hotel lobby bar (colors bistro lobby), it was SLAMMED! As the hotel had two weddings that weekend, however - it didn't affect service even in the slightest. My husband and I sat at the bar and all of the integrity of the cocktails was maintained and everyone was served in a timely manner. Another manager Amanda, came onto the floor to assist and she was not only friendly to guest but also showed great respect to her staff. Once the lobby bar had cleared out, they had this gentleman who worked for cleaning that swiftly came in and cleaned and moved all the tables and chairs back. Having travelled allot for work, I was so impressed with the transition. It was new years and the bar was closing before 12PM, however the general manager of the hotel, allowed us to purchase an additional few drinks and we could stay seated in the lobby. He was kind and gracious and wanted us to enjoy our night. Over all bang for your buck is a 10! Cleanliness and service 10! This hotel has it all for the everyday modern family.

Basic Sheraton hotel. Beds were comfortable and more than enough room for our family of 4! Very dry in the rooms but not much you can do about that in November. The Pool and water slide were a hit with our kids and it wasn’t very busy for a Friday night. The hotel looks very dated from the outside but is updated nicely inside.

Although an older hotel (inside and out), my stay at the Sheraton Cavalier was great considering what I paid. The front desk and restaurant team was welcoming and personable, the upgraded suite was nice enough and somewhat updated, and sleep quality was good. Free parking was also a plus, considering the hotel was farther out and transit wasn't the most convenient. A “lounge” was also available, but it was more like a pantry as there was nothing noteworthy being served minus some assorted bagged snacks, a coffee machine and some soft drinks - no breakfast or afternoon snack service. Still beats the vending machines though, it was free stuff after all. From what I heard a reno should be on its way, but even at its current state I would definitely book again if the price were right.

When you enter the lobby, you are met with the most amazing smell ever. Cleanliness and the staff at the desk were super amazing. They were awesome at their job. The rooms were very clean and no musty odours . I always book Marriott hotels and have never been disappointed ~Margaret

Sheraton Cavalier Hotel needs an updated review of 3 stars. Over the same year, I’ve visited many 3 star hotels that have far surpassed Sheraton Cavalier who claims to be 4 stars. The outside and main lobby look prestigious but the actual hotel rooms are unupgraded and old. The washrooms are smaller than most other hotels and the bathtub was unclean. BUT THAT’S NOT ALL. HORRIBLY thin walls. I can hear every single whisper down the hallways, and got woken up multiple times at 3am to footsteps and whispers of groups of people. You can hear every click of all the doors opening and/or closing and turns out the door is too small for the door frame. Because this is most commonly known as a family hotel, I could hear little kids running up and down. They weren’t even yelling or screaming, but I heard every exclamation or remark they made. My whole family was unable to sleep well. Is that not the main point to a hotel? To produce a comfortable place to spend the night? We will be cutting our stay short. Room is also incredibly small for 4 people and the washroom is a tight fit. I could have gotten a better deal for a less cost at a 3 star hotel elsewhere. If Sheraton cavalier wants to keep its 4 stars, it needs to keep up with the times and update their rooms, sound proofing, and much more. Oh and the view of pipes and fans is truly nice. Update: talked to front desk to see if anything could be done (like moving to a more sound proof room) but they couldn’t do anything about it. Staff is nice enough and the water park is great for kids but the rooms itself are a huge problem. This is the basic necessity to a hotel, please update rooms.
