This was such a beautiful home away from home. There is so much character in this lovely Bed and Breakfast. The rooms are immaculate and the host Kelly was most gracious. The location is perfect as well. I highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast.

I've stayed in B&B's in Calgary previously but thought I would give this one a try. I'm glad I did. Extremely good value for money. Kelly is a super host. I did not want a 'big' breakfast and ended up with a very nice large fresh fruit bowl, cheese/grapes and fresh croissant. Very good comfortable bed, ensuite facilities, flat screen TV (with DVD built-in) and quiet area close to downtown. Rooms are a little small and lack good closet space for a long stay but more than adequate for a night or two. Kelly is renovating a third room which will be larger. I enjoyed my brief one night stay and have put this on my list as places to stay at again. Kelly recommended a local Persian restaurant for dinner - very good food and very good prices. Recommend this B&B if you are looking for good value for your money run my a friendly host while still being very comfortable. Wi-fi available. Also, as a plus there is a guest room available with full-size fridge, microwave, etc. Laundry facilities are also in room - I suspect you can use - I didn't ask. Appliances relatively new.

I've been in Calgary on business many times, and this time around decided to try a B&B. I was not disappointed with the experience. The house itself is a big beautiful Edwardian home with some really great details like heated floors in the bathrooms. The owner, Kelly, is a top notch gentleman - quick with recommendations on great places to go and always greeting us with a smile and sometimes even a song on the gorgeous piano in the living room. For those who, like me, get a little homesick for their pets, there's even a sweet little canine companion called Blanco. Make sure you scratch his ears for me (Blanco's, not Kelly's). I will definitely be making Hughes House my #1 choice when I stay in Calgary.

We chose this place because of the recommendations. They say in life you get what you pay for and for the price we didn't have very high expectations, but we didn't expect to be served hot oatmeal every day with a little sliced fruit and coffee. When we asked to have the oatmeal removed from the breakfast menu we received only a reheated muffin or croissant, sliced fruit and coffee. Our room was a work in progress as well as the main stairwell. We also had to complain about piano playing at night. Although we had paid for 6 nights, we were told that we had to leave a day early. Other tenants received the same treatment. Fortunately we had emails to support our claim. Last but not least were the strange noises late in the evening or early in the morning. I can not wholeheartedly recommend this B&B especially the breakfast.

Over the last eight years we have stayed numerous times at Hughes’ House and always enjoyed it. We have stayed in all his rooms. Each of them has a unique character furnished and decorated with beautiful antic things. All the rooms with their also unique bathrooms are spotless. With Kelly we met a man who truly loves people. He can give good advice about anything related to Calgary.
We never had breakfast with him but were invited a couple of times to parties he throws frequently to give young artists an audience and a place to perform.
At night when we returned from our kids he often waited for us with a glass of wine and we talked with him about God and the world.
Whoever is looking for a nice room, an excellent host and a central location this is the place to pick in Calgary.

I have the great pleasure of having several sets of grandparents who visit Calgary to see their kids. These folks are guests who have morphed into fine friends and I do miss them now that the kids have a bigger house with a guest bedroom for them. I do thank you for these past years of being a peripheral part of the family and do give us a ring next time you're in town. Best to you,K

Thanks to Kelly, our host at Hughes' House, my teenage son and I had a fabulous time in Calgary. We had comfortable, spacious adjoining rooms with a shared bath for our 2 week stay. Kelly not only introduced us to the sights and music scene in Calgary, but also to his delightful friends and neighbors. We shared many wonderful dinners on the front porch that included Alberta beef cooked on the grill by Kelly, and plenty of red wine. We enjoyed being able to walk to a wide variety of restaurants (only a 5 or 10 minute walk), and to downtown Calgary (a 20 minute walk). A friendly, gracious, accommodating host... comfortable rooms... perfect location... very reasonable price... what more can I say? The only hard part was leaving!

We recently had the great luck to stay several nights at this B&B in Calgary. Kelly, owner and host, is most welcoming and.. it isn't long before a glass of wine is being shared. The house has a vibe of Victorian with many subtle, perfect touches. We got the "4-Poster" room - complete with old-fashioned claw-foot tub. Delicious!! A grand stay in a grand house. Clean, well-cared for.. this is a lovely home away from home.

Kelly and his four legged friend Blanco give you a warm and friendly welcome to their carefully and lovingly restored 1914 house. Very clean and tidy with interesting furniture/pictures and musical instruments. Lovely en-suite rooms with lashings of hot water and underfloor heating. Good healthy breakfasts around a large dining table and a chance to meet fellow guests. If you are really good you will find yourself invited to a BBQ with fellow guests and friends drinking fine wine and getting an opportunity to sample even more of Kelly's culinary skills. Ideally located for downtown Calgary with all the activities on offer. The zoo is well worth checking out. If you are looking to stay in Calgary then look no further.

Don't overlook this B&B ,it is truly first class. The room was spotless and lovely and warm. The kitchenett which had a fridge/freezer, microwave, washer and dryer for guests use was an added bonus. It is in a great location within walking distance to downtown attractions. Close to carhire locations, wonderful restaurants and shopping. Host, Kelly, is more than accommodating and really a true blue Canadian who was only to happy to assist us with anything during our fortnight stay. We can highy recommend this B&B and will use it again on our next visit to Calgary.

Hi David, Thank-you for your inquiry. We would have a nice room with private en-suite bath available for you. Rate for a breakfast catered stay is $85 C$ per night at this time of year. As longer term guests get tired of our breakfast menu we offer a self catered stay at a reduced rate. The house has a guest hospitality room with frig and microwave for your use as well as laundry machines. You can find more pictures on our web pages.Kind regards,Kelly
