We stayed here mostly on the suggestion of a friend who loved the adjacent Bill Peyto's Cafe. To be fair we had not stayed in hostel accommodations for several decades, and found the room a bit too basic for our tastes. However, it was clean and the shower and toilet outside the room were clean. The competition nearby did not... More

We were only there for the one night but don't have any complaints. We had a private room, shared bathroom, the room was nice enough and the bathrooms were clean and plentiful (toilet just outside, shared with one other room, showers and more toilets just down the hall). The kitchen was spacious and well equipped. The show stopper is the... More

I stayed here for a week snowboarding on a trip between Alberta and BC, really lovely clean and modern interiors. The restaurant downstairs is great, tasty and affordable food (better option than at the grocery store as prices are high!). The location is beautiful, great hikes nearby and easy to get to the ski hill. It is quite quiet, there... More

Spent two nights in the idyllically located hostel. The room was basic but perfectly acceptable. The freight train runs nearby but is not too disruptive. Plenty of car parking on-site and WIFI worked well (except during the area-wide blackout). There are plenty of options nearby for restaurants, snacks etc but the restaurant provides a superb selection of affordable, delicious food.... More

We stayed in a private room and the bed was made but when we pulled back the sheets there were pubic hairs, food crumbs and what we thought were dead bugs all through the sheets. When we talked to the manager he was useless and didn't even applogized to us as he was tucking in his shirt. It was very... More

My gf and I stayed here for one night between our jasper and banff trip. We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects. Below are my pros and cons of our stay. Pros: Couldn't have a better location! Staff were friendly and polite! Room was clean and spacious, plenty of locker space The decor was very cool, added to a great atmosphere The... More

This place was almost excellent. Three people arrived here at 9:15 in the evening before skiing Lake Louise and Sunshine. Went to Banff next day. The room was beyond expectations. Very cosy and clean. However... We arrived at 9:15 am in busy season. Hoped to have a beer. Not possible. The bar was closed. Dissapointing... Breakfast was toast. Lasted almost... More

We have stayed several times in this hostel. It attracts young and old alike with dorms or private rooms. There are two buildings. The new building often has young families in it and there are some nice public areas outside the rooms. The old building is abuzz with travellers, kids, teens. It's harder to find a quiet place to read.... More

Spent a night here while climbing waterfall ice in the Rockies. It's a comfortable hostel with a helpful staff and a really nice common room. The self-catering kitchen was very crowded when we were there, but it was 7 pm on a Saturday so that's probably as bad as it gets.

We stayed three nights mountaineering in the region. Unfortunately, some people with other activities were sharing our room, and not allowing us to sleep a a reasonable time. The receptionist should takd this into consideration and putting all bar flies in the same bunk. The mattress was too old.

Thank you for your review and comments. We will use them to help improve our hostel. Sorry we didn't quite meet your expectations. We are aware of the condition of some of our mattresses - we are working hard to gain approval for new ones. In the past month we have been able to secure a number of better mattresses,... More
