We had a fantastic time at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. The service was top notch. The food was very good although the new dinner service at Louiza needed some improvement, the wait staff made up for it with excellent service. Our kids loved ice skating and playing hockey on the frozen lake even after a long day of skiing. The spa was a wonderful way to recharge. We will be back again!
My wife and I stay here every winter and summer, and even though we have spent well over 100 nights here, we still have reason to come back again. On this summer visit, we treated my mother and cousin to a nice 3-week vacation, split between the Chateau Lake Louise and the Banff Springs Hotel. Because there were four of us travelling, we booked a Two Bedroom Lakeview Suite. We were pleased to be assigned to 859 on the top floor. Arriving at the hotel, the valet staff promptly greeted us, unloaded our bags, and handed us the keys to our suite. We left the car with the valet and headed to the suite. It wasn't busy at the front desk, but it was nice to be able to skip and head directly to the suite. We were greeted in the suite by a nice bottle of wine and a welcome snack. Accor Diamond member benefits, such as the drink vouchers, were also provided on arrival. The suite was beautifully renovated, and provided good space for the four of us. With two bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths, large closets, a lovely living room and dining area, the suite had great space. And of course, great views from the six windows across the front of the turret! The only thing it could have used, was some additional dresser space for clothing in the second bedroom. The master bedroom had plenty of drawer space. We ate dinners in the Fairview, Alpine Social, Walliser Stube (always my favourite) and several times at the Lakeview Lounge. We had breakfast in Lago most mornings, but also ordered in-room dining a few times. It's nice to have breakfast included via both options. All meals were excellent. I don't know if we just got lucky, but we seemed to get the best window table for every meal (except Alpine Social, which doesn't really have any views), so that was appreciated. On our first day while having dinner in the Lakeview Lounge, the hotel's Manager of Dining Services came to our table, and said she noticed us having dinner, and offered any assistance with any meals for the remainder of our stay. We already had reservations for remaining nights, but it was very nice of her to reach out. If I had one complaint, it was about the time to get breakfast. There was nearly always a line to get a table, and with no way to reserve. Guests in suites are supposed to have priority dining access, but that clearly doesn't apply to breakfast! It also would be nice if you could have in-room dining earlier than 7:15, which is too late when planning some early morning hikes or trying to get to a Lake O'Hara bus reservation. I don't remember it like this on any of our prior stays, so this is an area that really needs to be addressed. I'm hoping once the delayed renovation of Louiza is completed and they finally open, perhaps they will offer breakfast in two restaurants? They certainly need more breakfast capacity to eliminate the waits. While not the responsibility of the hotel, over the course of the nearly two weeks we stayed here, it certainly helped that the weather was fabulous, with only one day with cloudy skies. We used the Moraine Lake shuttle bus a couple of times during the stay. We hiked about 50 miles and climbed a couple of peaks. It was a great trip! Now we just have to wait until March for our return visit.…
The best place , clean , fresh , no damp smell , excellent view ( can’t get better view of Lake Louis and glacier , take lake view room Very warm staff who have exceptional humanity traits , well diverse staffing and very accommodating, making over all experience WOW!!
This is a must do experience. If you are going to visit Lake Louise, a stay at this legendary hotel is the icing on the cake. Make sure you have a Lake View room and dine in one of the hotels amazing restaurants. We will be back.
From the greeting at the entrance, to check in, to the room upgrade and anniversary treat, to dining, to walking the grounds, to the concierge, to check out - no complaints! We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in style. It was cold and we don't ski, but there was enough to do just looking at the mountains and being present. We also enjoyed a horse drawn sleigh ride around Lake Louise.
This hotel has a truly remarkable location, elevating the experience well beyond the hotel itself, which is a bit dated in some respects (the classic design is lovely, that's not the issue, it's more of some of the room elements need to be modernized, and the "fitness" room isn't the greatest though that isn't going to be a major concern for 99% of people staying at the Fairmont). The location is what this place is all about, as you are right at Lake Louise, there's nothing like that view with the mountains surrounding you. As well, you're right there for a 10-15 minute drive to Lake Moraine, so this location is unbeatable. We dined at the Fairview and Louiza, both were excellent. The hotel also provided every request we had, going above and beyond in being amenable and helpful.
The hotel is in a very beautiful setting, absurdly wonderful panoramic views. The bedroom and all restaurants were magnificent. We stayed in Fairmont Gold and the club staff were beyond friendly and helpful. Only glitch was some of the Service teams weren’t willingly helpful nor friendly (Ski Locker and Bell Captain) I’m afraid. But…this was an exceptionally good hotel in a most beautiful part of the World and I’d go back in a heartbeat.
Had a wonderful stay at your beautiful hotel. Honestly the views from the lakeside are just stunning, and I think I would be disappointed if I didn't face the lake. The staff were all very well trained and accommodating - especially the valet team. We were disappointed in the pool and jacuzzi which was just underwhelming. Nothing wrong with it except it just wasn't very attractive or lux. Bissgest issue if any was with the food. It's very expensive and overly rich. You should have at least one healthy eating restaurant or healthier dishes as options. Too much meat and fried food. No vegetable and legumes - not enough mediterranean style foods - grilled fish and veggies. Also we wanted to have the afternoon tea one day and were surprised to see it was served at 12 noon instead of 2pm. Okay then. But we wanted to enjoy it in the Lakeview Lounge and were shown instead the Fairview Restaurant where NO ONE was eating . Honestly sitting in the Fairview is not a very appealing idea. There is no vibe there at all. It seems to be built for tour buses only. Very cold and 80's. The staff would not serve the cream tea in the Lakeview. This was a bad decision as it wouldnt not have disrupted the service at all and you would have scored another meal on us. Another evening we had booked in the Fairview and were so sad to see again that we would be the only people there. It's such a lonely thing to dine in an empty dining room. You should rethink this policy during slow periods. But this hotel has what is probably the best skating rink in the entire world so if you love skating than this is the place to be. Just stunning!!!…
Excellent hotel in beautiful location, truly magical. Our third visit to this amazing location, made very special by the sleigh ride which glides along the woodland tracks to the lake. Everything about our stay was so memorable and is consistent on every visit.
We stayed here during the cold snap in February 2023. Despite the -20 C temperatures our stay was magical. We stayed in suite 636 which was a large 1 bedroom suite we booked far in advance in a package deal that included breakfast at Louiza restaurant. The rooms were large and spacious with 2 bathrooms and we had a huge tub in the bathroom! We were advised to book all restaurants & excursions in advance by the hotel which we did and we were not sorry! The hotel was quite full when we were visiting so it was helpful to have the reservations in advance. The hotel also has a Kids Club which had times throughout the day where it was open for 1-2 hours. My 7 and 10 year old son enjoyed playing games, watching videos, the climbing wall and arts & crafts there. One evening my husband & I were able to have dinner on our own while the kids went to the the Kids Club which was nice. We also pre-booked a sleigh ride, which was really special. While there we skied at Lake Louise Ski Resort 1 day. The transfer bus there was on time and seamless with drop off in front of the resort after about a 10 minute ride from the resort. The ski rental desk in the hotel is conveniently located right in the lobby and near to the free shuttle pickup\drop-off. We also went ice skating and cross country skiing while there on the frozen lake and the rentals from the hotel were easy to obtain and plentiful. The pool was ok but quite busy when we went after skiing. We heard from staff that they are currently rebuilding the outdoor pool of bygone days. We did not get to experience the spa but it looked quite nice. I will do a separate review for the hotel restaurants but the nicest in my opinion was the Fairview. If you’re there in the winter be sure to check out the ice castle and ice bar!…
