Lovely hotel! Great views! Tasty food! Ice skating on the lake was truly magical. Skiing at Lake Louise was awesome. Winter is the best time to visit; much less crowded. Expensive hotel. Room rent was not too bad but the add on taxes, resort fees etc added $ 125 to the daily room rent.

Hotel's Favorite
My wife and I stay here every winter and summer, and even though we have spent well over 100 nights here, we still have reason to come back again. On this summer visit, we treated my mother and cousin to a nice 3-week vacation, split between the Chateau Lake Louise and the Banff Springs Hotel. Because there were four of us travelling, we booked a Two Bedroom Lakeview Suite. We were pleased to be assigned to 859 on the top floor. Arriving at the hotel, the valet staff promptly greeted us, unloaded our bags, and handed us the keys to our suite. We left the car with the valet and headed to the suite. It wasn't busy at the front desk, but it was nice to be able to skip and head directly to the suite. We were greeted in the suite by a nice bottle of wine and a welcome snack. Accor Diamond member benefits, such as the drink vouchers, were also provided on arrival. The suite was beautifully renovated, and provided good space for the four of us. With two bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths, large closets, a lovely living room and dining area, the suite had great space. And of course, great views from the six windows across the front of the turret! The only thing it could have used, was some additional dresser space for clothing in the second bedroom. The master bedroom had plenty of drawer space. We ate dinners in the Fairview, Alpine Social, Walliser Stube (always my favourite) and several times at the Lakeview Lounge. We had breakfast in Lago most mornings, but also ordered in-room dining a few times. It's nice to have breakfast included via both options. All meals were excellent. I don't know if we just got lucky, but we seemed to get the best window table for every meal (except Alpine Social, which doesn't really have any views), so that was appreciated. On our first day while having dinner in the Lakeview Lounge, the hotel's Manager of Dining Services came to our table, and said she noticed us having dinner, and offered any assistance with any meals for the remainder of our stay. We already had reservations for remaining nights, but it was very nice of her to reach out. If I had one complaint, it was about the time to get breakfast. There was nearly always a line to get a table, and with no way to reserve. Guests in suites are supposed to have priority dining access, but that clearly doesn't apply to breakfast! It also would be nice if you could have in-room dining earlier than 7:15, which is too late when planning some early morning hikes or trying to get to a Lake O'Hara bus reservation. I don't remember it like this on any of our prior stays, so this is an area that really needs to be addressed. I'm hoping once the delayed renovation of Louiza is completed and they finally open, perhaps they will offer breakfast in two restaurants? They certainly need more breakfast capacity to eliminate the waits. While not the responsibility of the hotel, over the course of the nearly two weeks we stayed here, it certainly helped that the weather was fabulous, with only one day with cloudy skies. We used the Moraine Lake shuttle bus a couple of times during the stay. We hiked about 50 miles and climbed a couple of peaks. It was a great trip! Now we just have to wait until March for our return visit.

Overall: Hotel is beautiful. There is no better view. We stayed in a 2 bedroom lakeview suite and it was perfect for our ski holiday. Lots of space to relax after a busy ski day. Bathrooms were newer and well appointed. No complaints on the room. Housekeeping was attentive and punctual. Extras: Skating and outdoor bar were great. The shuttle to the slopes was punctual and we never waited or got stuck. Ski storage was also great. We just dropped our skis off on the way in and picked up in the morning. Our girls used the pool once but we always enjoy an outdoor pool and hot tub when we're skiing. We missed this on this trip. I think perhaps they are building one as there was some construction where I think a pool would be. If not they should. Food: This was our one big complaint. There are several restaurants but they all serve what I would describe as fine dining food. Yes, there's a burger at Alpine and a beef dip at the Lakeview but overall there was no where casual to eat. I love fine dining but I didn't need a huge meal every day. And the lobby "bar" is so under-utilized. This is an AMAZING space with an incredible view. But on the website it says it closes at 5pm. But then we noticed it open after dinner and the hostess said "well sometimes we stay open". But they also serve food in the main lounge area and it was filled with kids. We just wanted to sit and have some drinks after dinner and we were told to go to Alpine Social, which is in the basement and not at all inviting. So we went to Fairview and after some back and forth they agreed to give us a table for drinks only. It just seems like not having a lobby bar that's open late and easily accessible is leaving a gap in their F&B offering. For such an expansive hotel I felt they fell short in this area. However the breakfast buffet was by far the best i've ever had.

I love the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. The location is spectacular and the service excellent. I look forward to visiting every year From the moment we arrived we felt valued and appreciated. There are limited dining options nearby so plan to eat at the various restaurants at the hotel or pop down to the little strip mall for great baking! We skied, we skated on the actual Lake and we went down to the ice bar and campfire. Definitely enough happening there to keep you entertained while feeling relaxed

This is the first time we have stayed in a Fairmont Hotel while travelling Canada and found it to be the most overrated place we have ever stayed. We have stayed in a myriad of hotels around the world, including 5 star Hotels and this would have to rate as one of the worst. We booked and stayed in one of their Fairmont Gold suites which we found presented well but very uninspiring and not worth the money. Check-in was dedicated to a special floor and on arriving - half an our before check-in time which was 4pm, we were told to take a seat as our room wasn't ready (if you are paying prices like we were the room should be ready, especially as we were only 30 minutes early). As it happened 4pm rolled around and it still wasn't ready. Breakfast was on the special dedicated floor and on arriving for breakfast there was a person on reception who failed to greet us or even speak to us - we had to wander around ourselves looking for our own table and walked around the buffet with the friendliest person being the guy that cooked the eggs. We found our own table and proceed to have breakfast only to be told by a girl on staff at 10.10am that it was last call for the buffet - she actually wasn't there to greet or direct us to a table but was around when making a last call. The service and place was not up to standard at all and felt like we were in a throwback to the 80's, it needs a good re-vamp and definitely not as glamours as they portray.

We had a fantastic time at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. The service was top notch. The food was very good although the new dinner service at Louiza needed some improvement, the wait staff made up for it with excellent service. Our kids loved ice skating and playing hockey on the frozen lake even after a long day of skiing. The spa was a wonderful way to recharge. We will be back again!

From the greeting at the entrance, to check in, to the room upgrade and anniversary treat, to dining, to walking the grounds, to the concierge, to check out - no complaints! We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in style. It was cold and we don't ski, but there was enough to do just looking at the mountains and being present. We also enjoyed a horse drawn sleigh ride around Lake Louise.

This hotel has a truly remarkable location, elevating the experience well beyond the hotel itself, which is a bit dated in some respects (the classic design is lovely, that's not the issue, it's more of some of the room elements need to be modernized, and the "fitness" room isn't the greatest though that isn't going to be a major concern for 99% of people staying at the Fairmont). The location is what this place is all about, as you are right at Lake Louise, there's nothing like that view with the mountains surrounding you. As well, you're right there for a 10-15 minute drive to Lake Moraine, so this location is unbeatable. We dined at the Fairview and Louiza, both were excellent. The hotel also provided every request we had, going above and beyond in being amenable and helpful.
