My family and I had the opportunity to stay at the hotel last week. We were originally planning to stay there 3 nights and then head to Jasper. Of course with the fires in Jasper we quickly needed to change our plans. The Post was able to extend our stay as they had anticipated this happening to their guests. We absolutely loved this hotel with their special touches and details to making our stay unbelievable. The staff make this hotel with their kindness and impeccable service. Connor in The Sir Norman Lounge and Nick in The Outpost were particularly memorable but our waiter in the dining room was excellent as well. We will cherish our experience at this hotel. Job well done.

Hotel's Favorite
We just finished a three night stay at the Post Hotel & Spa. In all fairness, we tried to get into the Fairmont but couldn't and out travel agent booked us at the Post Hotel instead. Boy were we glad. While the Fairmont is right on Lake Louise (and if you have a room on the side of the hotel you would have a breathtaking view of one of the world's most beautiful sights), it is a very large, very busy overrun hotel. The Post Hotel is about a mile and a half from Lake Louise and in town (such as it is). One caveat, public parking at Lake Louise is often impossible so expect to take a public of private shuttle. Our room was very rustic in decor but clean and comfortable. Be aware, there is no air conditioning in the hotel so if you come during August when its warm (which we did), your room could be a bit uncomfortable. The staff is really what sets this hotel apart. Everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) was friendly and helpful. We ate dinner at the fine dining restaurant one night and the meal was truly exceptional (especially when you consider we were miles and miles away from a big city). The hotel is famous for its wine list and it did not disappoint. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and helpful and his assistant gave us a tour of the wine cellar before dinner. We ate dinner another night in the casual pub and the food was definitely better than normal pub food. I want to single out Rachel who worked behind the bar and also served us our food. She was so friendly and but up with special requests and a million questions. Two quick asides. There are very few dining options in Lake Louise but we also ate at the Train Station at it was very good if you want to go off premises for a dinner. finally, don't miss the Columbia Icefields about an hour and a half north of Lake Louise. Very much worth the trip. I am not sure we will ever be back in Lake Louise but if we do come back, we will for sure stay at the Post Hotel.

We recently spent two weeks traveling in Western Canada and the Canadian Rockies. Our three nights at The Post Hotel were a highlight in terms of lodging and food. The hotel is charming…our junior suite facing the river was very comfortable. Dinners in the hotel’s restaurant were pricey but excellent!! And the customer service was exceptional throughout. If you are planning a visit to Lake Louise I’d highly recommend the Post Hotel. Be advised there is no AC …not an issue for us in mid September ….also our room had a real wood burning fireplace. We didn’t use but would be fun in the winter.

We stayed at the post for a few nights & were thrilled with our experience for the most part!! First impression was nice! Of course you have the beautiful mountains all around. You have a BEAUTIFUL flower arrangement right in the front lobby & you will find beautiful flowers all around the property inside & out. They definitely put a lot of effort into the appearance of the grounds. Decor was maybe a little dated, but for my taste personally it made me feel more at home. Staff! Staff! Staff! Dining staff was exceptional. All of the servers we had were very attentive to all of our needs without being overbearing and the dining experience didn't feel snooty at all! Bellmen were great & very friendly. Especially the tall German man who greeted us initially! Front desk staff seemed to be hit or miss. Emily was extremely helpful and attentive every time we saw her & she helped us come up with some day trips during our stay which we ended up LOVING. We had a small problem with our room which front desk handled very professionally & quickly. The gentleman who checked us out seemed a little rude. Interrupted us a few times and just seemed generally uninterested but it's a small thing & when I say it was our only negative point to our ENTIRE stay, i mean it. The small little details definitely didn't go unnoticed. The cookies & note card are such a simple addition, but it truly makes a difference! In-house baked goods are definitely more personal than some hotels where they just give you a piece of chocolate for turn down service. The room was perfectly cleaned & the refreshed the room twice a day which was just lovely. Nothing better than falling asleep to a clean room. Unfortunately, our travel agent did book us at the fairmont for the last two nights of our trip & it just doesn't even come close to comparing. It is nice that it's right on the lake but otherwise, it's just a tourist hub. We felt much more relaxed at the Post. If we ever are back in the area, we will be back!!!! I understand what the hype is about now

A lovely hotel, well located for Lake Louise and with good amenities. The gym is fairly well equipped and there is a small pool. Our room opened out onto to a pretty garden and river. The restaurant on-site offers a fixed four course menu of lovely but rather fussy food for a family. We therefore ate in the adjacent pub, where the food options were rustic but better for our teenage son. We enjoyed the free apples at reception but tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms would have been nice. The hotel is about a 45 minute walk to Lake Louise (50 if you take your time). Whilst you do not need to be particularly fit, there are a few steep parts which are quite strenuous. It is a lovely walk through woodland and by the river, with Lake Louise providing a beautiful destination. We stopped on the way at the Trailhead cafe, which gets busy but offered a great place for breakfast or a coffee/ cake.

A lovely family run hotel. Very clean but I had some reservations. There was no air conditioning. The rooms were just too hot in peak summer and it was impossible to sleep. The food was good but hugely overpriced. The outpost pub is decent and I really enjoyed the steak but I had great expectations of the food in the Dining Room and it didn’t quite live up to that. Very expensive and in fact there was probably too much food. The rooms were big and well appointed. The toiletries were well stocked and the beds comfortable. The decor needs an upgrade. The gym was tired and the swimming pool is small but perfectly acceptable. We had a spa treatment which was average. The location though is right by the train station. The trains do not come that often but worth noting. The hotel is by a little shopping / food area so you can venture out quite easily. It is about an hour’s hike from lake Louise. The hotel feels as though you are in a Swiss chalet.

We toyed with staying at the Fairmont due it’s proximity to the lake, but after visiting the property and the lakefront, we are so happy we stayed at the Post Hotel. It truly is an oasis from the congestion of Lake Louise tourism, yet it is only a short walk to the village shops. Rooms are adequately sized, with modern bathrooms. Our room had a wood burning fireplace. From deck outside our room, you could see the glacial stream flowing by and at night you can hear the water gurgling. Daytime highs were in the low 80’s during our stay and there is no air conditioning. However, we left the doors and windows open all day. The room was comfortable at bedtime and was refreshingly chilly by morning. Breakfast was served in the main dining room and was very good. The Adirondack chairs set out on the lawn were a delightful place to have a pre or post dinner cocktail. One recommendation to hotel management (if they read TripAdvisor). The hotel should run a shuttle to Lake Louise every hour from 8-5 and charge a fee for the service. Right now, the Roam Transit buses are not accepting Lake Louise Village passengers, the only taxi service in town does not return phone calls, parking is nearly impossible and it’s a 2.5 mile uphill walk to the shoreline.

My wife and I stayed here for five days and it was delightful. The staff were exceptional; efficient, accommodating and friendly. Accommodation is not cheap but worth every penny. This is probably one of the best hotels we have stayed in over many years. Rooms are large with both closet and drawer space. Comfortable seating. Electronic infrastructure is adequate. Bathroom was large with sink, toilet and combined tub and shower. My wife was delighted with the integrated whirlpool in the tub. The public area is akin to someone's living room; numerous comfortable easy chairs and sofas and an outdoor patio and garden off this area. Complimentary tea is served in the afternoon. The restaurant is excellent. The food is both creative and tasteful with service to match. The bedrooms look onto either the parking lot; not overly intrusive (people here appear to retire at a civilized hour) but the rail line also runs by these bedrooms. Whilst its not a commuter line (that's an understatement) the trains are long (maybe a mile) and they do run until midnight. The other side is idyllic; bordering a rushing river and open grass area. Definitely recommend this more expensive option. I cannot recommend this hotel enough.
