Don't choose a room near a door as they are banged open and closed all night. Find out which rooms are on more modern heating etc and not on the boiler( if any as impossible to turn heating off if you get hot at night) No tv in room 121 if that's important to you . Not sure about other... More

The Deer Lodge hotel has SO much potential. Located just behind Chateau Lake Louise, it has the perfect location. It can be used as a base for hiking and exploring the area. Moraine Lake is about a 15 minute drive away. The dining rooms - both in the lounge and the formal dining rooms - are excellent. Self-parking is free.... More

The only positive point is the proximity to the beautiful Lake Louise. From the outside Deer Lodge looks rather nice.. but enter at your peril. The whole place is dark, dreary and unloved. The corridors are poorly lit, with dark walls, which makes it feel quite spooky. There are no lifts so its a bit of a struggle with a... More

Our recent stay at Deer Lodge proved to be the best of our trip through the Canadian Rockies. A stones throw from Lake Louise (walking distance) and the accommodations (3rd floor facing mountains) was perfectly wonderful. Listening to the brook running along the road at nite lulled us to sleep. The Staff, from the front desk to the restaurant were... More

We booked this motel because it was walking distance to lake Louise. Hugh mistake. The lodge is old which we knew but it has not been maintained like similar lodges that we have stayed at. The carpets are very worn and dirty. The room was small with one double bed against the wall. Not what we thought we had booked.... More

Room 307 should be condemned by the Canadian Tourist Authorities: it is of miniscule size, with bed to match, hot with uncontrollable heating, without a bedside table or light, without accessible power sockets or safe, which is at floor level in a ‘cupboard’, without tea/coffee facilities, without air extraction in the bathroom – the whole place steams up, without bathroom... This is an historic property about 200 yards down the hill from the top-end Fairmont Lake Louise hotel. It is much quieter than its rival up,the hill, but if you want relaxed woodsy ambiance this is the place for you. The restaurant service and cuisine were superb. Unfortunately, the front desk staff was harried and not too friendly, and it... More

Deer lodge, I really dislike giving very poor reviews but if I could give zero stars that would be fair. We had one night here & that was one too many, as far as accommodation is concerned. Registration required ID, first time ever I have been asked, as well as the obligatory credit card. What a pain. We knew it... More

Married couple early 60's - World wide travellers from England:- Large but inhospitable room - none of the rooms have TV. There is one in a cold basement. Food fairly good but advertised as exceptional. Restaurant staff over gushing and insincere. Residents take second place to walk in diners for the more modest bar meals (that is you cannot book... If you want to book a room in the Deer Lodge for you or for your family read all the negative comments, of all those previous deposed travelers and think carefully whether you want to book a room here, because in reality, the rooms are even worse as described. On top of the normal exaggerated room price I have paid... More
