I travelled solo via motorcycle east to west across Canada in July 2014. Through Ontario and the prairies I was paying $80 to $130 for accommodations at motels in small towns. Banff is where I decided to experience my first hostel. Much to my surprise,...More
Found this to be a nice hostel, fairly clean with nice rooms and facilities. It's a little ways out of town but with the bus service that really isn't much of a problem. It's definitely good value and has a nice atmosphere.

Hi, all three of the snow resorts have transportation leaving from the town. Norquay is 10 minutes away, Sunshine is 20 minutes and Lake Louise is 40 minutes away. All three have their advantages and it's worth visiting all of them! The HI-Banff gives guests a free city bus pass, so you can take the transit right from outside the hostel to the snow bus hub and from there to your ski/board destination - plus it gives you transportation to a lot of the other local attractions for free.
