This was my second time here, and I lucked out because of a last minute cancellation. The staff was so great they actually called me back after telling me sorry, they had no vacancy. The cabins are so cute, I do prefer the cabins in the back on top of the hill with a real fireplace and a huge bathroom... More

The cabins are dingy & need a good cleaning; that might help get rid of the mice. Housekeeping doesn't do more than they have to. They deliver sheets & towels to your cabin & you do the changing. If these cabins were $50 a nite we would not stay here. The area is lovely but if you want to hike... More

I have a lot of mixed feelings about Johnston Canyon Resort. On the one hand, I read other reviews complaining that is was muddy (it rained when we were there - we know!), or that it's not a resort. True enough, but these are historic cabins, on the edge of the wilderness, in the woods. This is what they are... More

I did not stay at the resort, rather just ate in the restaurant. After hiking to the Ink Pots we stopped in for a Bison burger. It was just okay, but basically boring. I was hoping for something more flavourful like the Moose sausages that you get in Newfoundland.

It's a shame these historic cabins in this scenic location are run so poorly. We stayed in the most expensive cabin (almost $300 per night US). The week before we stayed in the KOA in West Glacier in Montana. HUGE DIFFERENCE! JCR needs serious maintenance. Mud everywhere. Can't keep anything clean. Walk to your car, or to a path, or... We spent 3 nights here in one of the family "two room" cabins, which are NOT two rooms, but one, with a partial wall dividing the living area with the sofa bed and the area with the main bed. The cafe was just ok, but enough for hungry travelers after a long day. Still, the location is great and it's... More

Johnston Canyon Resort may have been our favorite accommodation on our trip through the parks. We had a fireplace cabin, which was perfect for our needs. Just the right size (for the two of us and our baby), quiet, conveniently located and surrounded by beauty (like the Johnston Canyon falls on site). We took advantage of the community grills, and... The cabin had a very foul smell that was spread over with febreze. We had to leave our windows open just to breath. We were then smelling cigarette, pot smoke with it. The shower and bathroom were tiny and right next to a bed. We were freezing all night with a disgusting smell. We noticed squirrels living under our cabin.... More

The cabins were exactly what we were looking for and as described. We selected a mid-level cabin for its porch which was a key feature. Having expected some of the salt of the earth features like the wood burning stove and VHS TV we found the cabin charming and well-suited to our needs. I could have sworn, however, that I... More

We had the most deluxe cabin, about $275.00/night usd, and overall pretty pricey and not necessarily worth it. The Pros: Great location and proximity to the canyons, nice location overlooking the canyons and pilot mountain, comfortable beds, nice sized cabin. The porch is very nice as well, and they have gliding swings that overlook the moutains. The Cons: Sink leaked,... More
