We really enjoyed our 2 nights at the Rimrock. Although the hotel is about 15 minutes from downtown Banff, guests are provided with a free bus pass and the bus picks up and drops off guests right in front of the hotel. Our room was spacious with a great view of the mountains. Staff were excellent both at the reception desk and the concierge desk. The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable. We particularly like their "green" policy which allowed us to choose not to have our room cleaned during our stay. For this, we were given a credit to put towards any hotel purchases. The Banff Gondola is just a few minutes' walk from the hotel which is very convenient.
We loved this hotel. Not only was it clean, modern and spacious, but every single staff member went above and beyond to greet and to help us. A huge shout out to the concierge service for helping us as we got displaced by the Jasper fires. The rooms had no carpet, which I loved. Our balcony had a beautiful mountain view. The bedding and towels were clean and crisp. There were plenty of power strips with USB ports placed around the room. The hotel also gives you passes to take the shuttle into the town of Banff. In addition, the restaurant located at this hotel, Primrose, was one of the best. Delicious food, excellent service. Thank you.
I was a guest at Rimrock Resort last week, and had a great experience. However, wanted to specifically shout out a gentleman EDDINE who works at Rimrock. I explained to him that I was looking for hiking recommendations and he proceeded to spend the next hour or so giving me an extensive list of recommended hikes and things to do in the local area. He was so kind and so very thoughtful in explaining to me the different kinds of hikes, what to watch out for, things to skip. He showed me some spectacular photos and even showed me how to track the auroras. He even went above and beyond and (as ill-prepared as I was) provided me with his very own bear spray and offered up his own hiking poles. I have stayed at some incredible hotels but this was the first time I have experienced this level of kindness, enthusiasm and passion from a complete stranger that it touched my heart. I saw him before I checked out of the hotel and that warmth and kindness and actual interest in what I had been up to was still present (despite being incredibly busy)! Thank you thank you thank you Eddine!…
All the staff here were very friendly and helpful. we valet parked the car and the valet brought our luggage to the reception. We were asked at check in if we would like to do the green policy of not having housekeeping and getting a $15 credit per night. Most other big hotels did not offer housekeeping and they did not offer a discount so well done Rimrock. Our room on the 8th floor was large with big windows overlooking the mountains. Big comfortable bed with plenty of storage and 2 comfy seats in the window area. There was no free bottled water but this was not a big issue for us. The bathroom had a shower over the bath and was not the most powerful shower but was very clean. We went to The Larkspur Lounge on our first night and had a few drinks and shared fish and chips which were massive. We tried to go on our last night but it was full. This was very disappointing as at 7pm I didn't want to travel into Banff. The young waitress at Larkspur put us on the waiting list and we were sent a text to say a table was available at about 8pm. We used the cafe a few times to get snacks and breakfasts which we ate outside on the lawn. Also used the concierge to book a couple of trips. We didn't find the hotel dated and liked the look and feel of it. We walked to the gondola which took about 5 minutes. The free bus to town ran very promptly every 20 minutes and dropped you back outside the hotel. This is a place we would come back to.…
If you like modern hotels with drab brown decor then this is the place for you. Myself I prefer a place that has atmosphere and is period. The good: comfortable beds and great pillows with good quality bedding. If you like being out of town then it is near the springs and the Banff Gondola. If it's a clear night the stars look really bright. Good views from the lounge over Banff. We did not eat in the hotel restaurant as it was to pricey. Also whilst we waited for our room we had a coffee, which was probably the worst I have ever had. It was very bitter. The bad: be prepared for them to want to hold your credit card. Again I refused this so they wanted $250 Canadian as a deposit. I told them that I was not prepared to do this as we would pay for things as we went. Eventually a Manager agreed to let us do this. It is quiet a walk from the town. There is a bus but it isn't as often as it states. Also the walk back is up a very steep hill. We were staying here on a Rocky Mountaineer tour. Originally we were supposed to be in the Fairmont Banff Springs. But got put into this one instead. I would not choose this myself.…
Good location. Very Expensive for the quality of the room. Seems like an old hotel. They do not provide water bottles and did not have glasses. Only paper glasses. It is far from the centre of the city and the hotel provides passes for travel on Public buses.
I’ve been to this resort multiple times for spa getaways/RnR. This time, we took our infant (4 months) and I was impressed with how well the hotel accommodated for us! Would highly recommend this location for professionals or parents/families needing some rest and relaxation!
The Rimrock is a large hotel, and I will admit to preferring smaller hotels, as I like the more personalized experience. That said, they do very well. Most of the rooms are below the lobby level, and ours had a fantastic view over Banff and the valley. You could possibly walk into town, but probably would not want to walk back up the hill. Fortunately Rimrock residents get a pass for the local transit bus. This runs about every 20 mins in the day, but less frequently in the evening, when it could get very busy. The lounge bar gets very busy, but there is another bar along the corridor which was nearly empty when we were there. Overall a comfortable stay, without standing out.
The bar in this hotel can only be accessed via a booking system when the hotel is very busy. We had a very busy day out and wanted to enjoy a drink but were told the bar was full and we'd have to go on a waiting list to recieve a text to say when we could get a drink. The alternative was to order room service who would then charge $4 for delivery. Our dinner in their supposed "best restaurant" was so bland we didn't bother to finish our main meals. We were really disappointed with this hotel and would certainly never return.
If you have a valley view room you will have a treat every morning as you open your curtains to the Banff mountain region. Rooms are well appointed with a massive extra king sized bed, 2 x armchairs and reasonable bathroom . Check in good and free bus pass into town invaluable as it’s a long way on foot and the walk back would be uphill all the way. Gondola and hot springs are 10 minutes walk away
