The bar area is not busy, only four beers on tap, and it's not got a great atmosphere, to be honest in 7 day's I didn't see anyone drinking at the bar...

The lobby and restaurants are beautifully updated but the guest rooms themselves are small, dark and dingy looking...

Our room was spacious, clean, good quality bedding sets...We got 2 complementary breakfast and it was excellent. Only thing to improve is the lights in the room and the decoration... Big white walls and "hospital neon" king of lights didn't give the best feeling...

Cons: the room was extremely small, the window of my room opened directly facing a supermarket, so whoever was passing by could see inside my room, there was a terrible smell in the lobby and in the room all the time... later, I stayed at a different hotel within the same price range, two minutes from this hotel, and I got much bigger nicer room...

...Fantastic room size and comfort... They do not offer a safe in the room that is odd for a hotel at this price level... The AC is dead quite and needs to run almost all the time in summer since the street facing rooms get direct sun and do get hot...

...I have been in many of the room types and can say that there is a great difference between them. There are rooms that you have to take the lift to the second floor then walk up stairs to the third floor as there is no access to these rooms any other way... For those with mobility issues this is not acceptable Some are so small there is only a meter around the bed and a shower only with a toilet wedged in beside it, to loft rooms with two queen beds and steep stairs to get up to the bedroom... Get a conventional room with access and facilities all on one level, stay clear of the loft rooms or the broom closet turned into a room or the third floor rooms that can only be accessed from the second floor and a staircase...

Everyone else seemed to get a great room... The ceiling was artexed with loads of dust hanging down from it, the overhead fan was filthy and rusted and the curtains at the window were filthy... Not sure if it's policy to stick solo travellers in the worst room in the hotel...

...The carpet is stained, was dinged, ceiling dinged, wall paper peeling off the walls, mold all around the tub and the list goes on.. I would NOT recommend this hotel until the rooms have had a major refurbishment!...

...Finally, the lack of cleaning was a turn-off. Without going into too many gory details, I will just say that we found a few things upon entering our room that made it obvious the room had just been superficially cleaned (vacuumed, beds made, that's it)...

Rooms cold and heating did not work.. was provided with a fan heater...

Negative comment for room 337: The air conditioning motor is on the roof outside the upstairs window, so there is a constant faint hum... We didn't complain, but if you don't like white noise, then avoid this room...

Our King Supreme room on the 2nd floor was better than expected... Front desk staff was very friendly and when I called to book the room they were very helpful... There was only two things the hotel needs to update and that is the blinds on the windows and larger pillows for the king size bed... We are going back in April and booked in to stay here again...

Stayed here for three nights to have a little mom escape... Requested a quiet room and the staff was very accommodating, putting me away from the elevator and not facing any streets... Room was quiet and comfortable, as was the bed... Would be nice to be able to do this once back at the room after a long cold day... I was traveling solo so there was plenty of room for me but I could see the room being a bit crowded with 4 people - especially the bathroom with the limited counter space...

...We booked their loft room which has 2 bedrooms on the loft floor and sofa bed on the main floor. It has a lot of room so we did not feel too cramped... Room was clean, looked nice and they also have Nespresso machine... Even though loft room only has one washroom, there's additional hotel washroom on the main floor for urgency...

This is a great modern hotel conveniently located on the main gig in downtown Banff... The rooms are air conditioned, which is a more important feature than one might imagine given the recent heat waves everywhere... We rented 2 rooms and they gave us 1 suite with a living room...

...later, I stayed at a different hotel within the same price range, two minutes from this hotel, and I got much bigger nicer room. Overall, the hotels in downtown Banff are very overpriced but this specific hotel really does not give you a value compared to other hotels nearby...

Have tried repeatedly to speak to someone on the front desk, to no avail!... Looks to me like I am going to have to cancel the order, refund the money to the customer!... Certainly wouldn’t want to risk making a reservation for this property!...

Overall - poor value for the money. Cheaply renovated hotel rooms with almost zero amenities... Cons: cheap reno - shower door wouldn't stay closed splashing water everywhere, drain of the shower wouldn't work either...

There was Scott, catching up with Dave, a colleague at the front desk, when I approached with a question... Did they know where I could buy a tie in Banff ahead of our cruise next week?... Scott asked what colour tie I needed and said he would go home as he was sure he had one... Imagine my delight and surprise when I returned after dinner to find the perfect red tie which matched my jacket and shirt to perfection... What an act of kindness, what great service... Simply Brilliant and this, with respect, from a senior member of the chef crew... Each with a smile, personality backed by professional service and a genuine desire to help and serve... The dining facilities are excellent, the place spotless, but the biggest asset which sets this place apart is the staff... Philip Slawsky - hang on to Scott Hergott as you may lose him - we need a new Prime Minister in the UK and I reckon Scott is the man to make Britain great again...

The service we received when we checked in was amazing. I had called the morning of about parking at the property before check in and was told to come to reception and check in and get a pass... From previous reviews, I thought we would be parking at the high school, but we had underground parking for 2 days at no charge... And even better yet, our room was ready and we could enjoy the afternoon in Banff!... An awesome experience at Elk and Avenue for our first time to Banff and only staying one night, it made travelling and shopping/eating very easy with kids...

...It has nepresso machines and a water heater... He is friendly, always have a smile in his face... Roam transportation to and from the Gondola and Hot springs stops couple minutes walk...

Of all the places I stayed on this trip, including the Fairmont on Lake Louis, The Elk and Ave was my favorite!... My room had a bucket for compost bucket!... My room service containers were all recycled and recyclable!... The staff was very down to earth, helpful and friendly...

Tried calling en route to see if our room was ready. Finally, I was not called as promised when our room was ready after having to write my name and number down for the staff member (Shouldn’t that info be on the screen in front of you, or easily accessible after pulling up the info to confirm our room wasn’t ready???)...

...I booked my trip through Trailfinders who arranged flights, hotel, ski passes and return transfers suing Brewster busses. I did miss my slotted brewster bus time due to delays, but the lady from Brewsters was still at the Kiosk near door 7 at Calgary airport and arranged for me to go on the next bus... Be Careful, as a taxi driver did approach me and told me that there was no more Brewster busses and he would do a good deal to take me to Banff... Which i am glad i ignored as there was another Brewster bus for me to be transferred to Banff The welcome from the lady receptionist was excellent and made me feel at ease after travelling 23 hours... She explained everything regarding the Hotel, handed me my ski passes and informed me of where i can get the ski busses with the time schedules... My 1st Morning i had traditional breakfast in the hotel which was hot, well presented and very filling... Also had 2 evening meals at the hotel which was of superb standard... My room was very clean for the 11 days stay, clean towels etc, and the bed was very comfy, slept really well... The jacuzzi was amazing and really hot soothing away aching muscles at the end of the day of skiing... While staying at the hotel, i needed my skis serviced... Matthew was amazing, arranged for my skis to be picked up and retuned to the hotel... Matthew, like all the receptionist staff are always friendly Thank you The hotel has a booking office to book trips, i booked the Gondola to Sulphur Mountain... You use the Roam busses to get to the Gondola for 2canadian dollars... The roam bus stops are opposite the Hotel and less than 2 min walk down the road from the Hotel... I used the Roam bus to visit Canmore 12 Candain dollars return, it was ok but i wished i had travelled to Johnson canyon instead... The Hotel has a cafe, you can buy coffee, tea, cakes, sandwiches and porridge... The ski bus stops outside the hotel next door, you can get to any of the 3 mountains...

Our King Supreme room on the 2nd floor was better than expected... They do supply earplugs for anyone sensitive to general traffic and city noises... The WiFi was really fast which was a huge bonus... Front desk staff was very friendly and when I called to book the room they were very helpful... All in all I would recommend this hotel to everyone visiting Banff... We are going back in April and booked in to stay here again...

My wife does not walk easily - the receptionist placed us in room 104 which was steps away from the lobby, the elevator to our car, the lounge and the restaurant... We had a comfortable, stress free stay and will very likely return...

I booked a loft room for two friends and myself for a ski trip... Otherwise our accommodations were quite comfortable during our trip and our party had pleasant interactions with the front desk staff when we needed supply replenishments... We appreciated the jacuzzi, heated underground parking garage and the use of guest laundry facilities...

We stayed at Elk & Avenue when the weather was freakishly cold. The very spacious room was great fornour family of 5... We got an extra heater and blankets though... The hot tub and sauna were fabulous!... There was one particular member of staff at reception who was exceptional... If he ever needed a job in the UK in guest services, we'd hire him on the spot!... Nespresso machine in the room with as much coffee as we wanted and tea also available... Cleaning staff also friendly and helpful... We had a very good stay at Elk & Avenue... Their restaurant Farm & Fire is also superb...

The front desk staff were wonderful at check in. Our family of 4 all needed a shower after a day of hiking and they sent us lots of extra soaps right away... Very warm and friendly staff members upon arrival who gave us all the necessary information and directions in an efficient manner. The sauna / steam room area was unfortunately closed but due to this if you went to the Banff Upper Hot Springs and returned with your receipt then they would reimburse you (I forgot to get my receipt but it was fine as we intended to go there anyway)... You use the Roam busses to get to the Gondola for 2canadian dollars... The roam bus stops are opposite the Hotel and less than 2 min walk down the road from the Hotel... The must go trip is to Lake Louise, stunning hotel and walking on the lake to the end was breathtaking... If you fancy a walk, Bow fall Trail at the bottom of Banff town is a must, beautiful scenery... The Hotel has a cafe, you can buy coffee, tea, cakes, sandwiches and porridge... The ski bus stops outside the hotel next door, you can get to any of the 3 mountains... There is a supermarket just around the corner which is great if you want to prepare your own snacks for your daily travels... The hotel is about 5 min walk to town centre, shops bars restaurants...

Our King Supreme room on the 2nd floor was better than expected. Such a beautiful view with huge windows... It was nice that we had a little hallway from the main door to our actual bedroom area... They do supply earplugs for anyone sensitive to general traffic and city noises... The WiFi was really fast which was a huge bonus... Front desk staff was very friendly and when I called to book the room they were very helpful... All in all I would recommend this hotel to everyone visiting Banff... We are going back in April and booked in to stay here again...

Hotel has a very good restaurant and lots of comfortable seating areas throughout the lobby. It connects to a wonderful coffee shop too... Check-in and check-out were simple and every employee we interacted with was pleasant and knowledgeable...

...I opted for the Elk and I wasn't disappointed, a clean, modern well lit and bright hotel, with friendly staff, the rooms are bright and airy, the beds were very comfortable, I had a large shower with a sliding glass door that was very powerful, there are containers on the shower wall with complementary shampoo, conditioner and shower gel, my only small gripe with the room was the lack of drawer space for clothes and NO SAFE, I have never been to a hotel where there isn't a safe to secure your passport, keys or other belongings, the pillows were small square pillows rather than oblong ones which is the norm for most hotels, the only other note, is make sure you get a room in the middle of the hotel or the right side, my first room was on the left and it was opposite the IGA (Banff convenience store) I thought when I got to the room, that the two sets of complimentary ear plugs was a sign, and it was the traffic going in and out of the IGA was very noisy. The hotel changed my room for me, without any issues and even let me see three rooms to make my choice from, cannot fault the staff... All that said, it's proximity to town and it's overall offering makes this hard to beat, and if you are in town for skiing, the bus stops outside the Ptarmigan the hotel next door...

...The highlights of the accommodation were the nice mountain view and the large shower instead of the bathtub and most of all the hand held shower instead of just the over the head one...

We stayed 6 nights, including New Years Eve, in a loft room... It had a dining table, a sofa bed and TV downstairs, and 2 queen beds upstairs... The beds were comfy, and the pillows were ok (I'm not a fan of feather pillows), but they are probably the best I've ever slept on... The sofa bed was also comfortable, and if left unfolded, there was still room to move around it... The bathroom was big, and there was a shower, which was great (no shower over bath, which seems to be the norm everywhere)... Restaurant downstairs is wonderful, staff in the hotel and restaurant are all very friendly... There is an IGA across the road and the hotel is pretty much at the end of the shopping strip so it's close to everything, with a 15 minute walk to the end of the street to the Bow River...

I booked a loft room for two friends and myself for a ski trip. The beds were comfortable and space itself did not disappoint, however the cleanliness could have been improved... Otherwise our accommodations were quite comfortable during our trip and our party had pleasant interactions with the front desk staff when we needed supply replenishments... We appreciated the jacuzzi, heated underground parking garage and the use of guest laundry facilities...

...Elk + Avnue was a modern hotel with a cool vibe to it. We stayed in a suite that was larger than expected... Highlights for me were the front desk staff was great, the restaurant Farm & Fire in the lobby is fantastic, the hotel is connected to a coffee shop that has great food and coffee and the parking garage is heated and connected to the hotel... You are also right in the center of town and can walk anywhere you need in case you want to have a few drinks... There is also an IGA across the street which is great if you need to stock up on food for day trips, skiing or just grab some cheese and crackers for the room...

We stayed here for 6 nights to ski at Lake Louise. Our adult kids (age 21, 23) loved the easy access to bars and food at all hours... Our room was large enough to accommodate all the gear we needed, and there were lockers in the basement for skis...

Location was great, staff was professional... There are no microwave in rooms, but they have a common area on the side of the lobby that everyone can use... Close to shuttle, grocery store, downtown and bus stop...

...We booked their loft room which has 2 bedrooms on the loft floor and sofa bed on the main floor. It has a lot of room so we did not feel too cramped... Room was clean, looked nice and they also have Nespresso machine... Even though loft room only has one washroom, there's additional hotel washroom on the main floor for urgency... Their hot tub was also nice with shower and washroom...

The front desk staff were wonderful at check in. Our family of 4 all needed a shower after a day of hiking and they sent us lots of extra soaps right away... The temperature and pressure of the shower was perfect... I do wish the bathroom had a fan in it though... Very convenient to walk a few minutes to the good earth cafe to get our morning coffee and danishes... Overall our getaway at this hotel was amazing and we will definitely return in the future...

...We requested a room with a view we got the room with a view, but we were also placed right outside the elevator... With no roomservice available, it was hard to justify the price we paid... Front desk was very helpful and friendly... If it wasn't for the free breakfast voucher for being Albertans, my rating would be 1-2 stars lower...

This is a great modern hotel conveniently located on the main gig in downtown Banff. Prices were reasonable, the bus was across the street for those who might want to take it... The rooms are air conditioned, which is a more important feature than one might imagine given the recent heat waves everywhere... We rented 2 rooms and they gave us 1 suite with a living room...
