The two lovely, comfortable guest rooms face the back and there is an outside area for sitting outside if the weather cooperates. There is also a sitting area with facilities for making tea and coffee. We had interesting conversations with our host while enjoying a lovely breakfast. Susan has travelled to many places in the world and we thoroughly enjoyed... More

Pro 1: The location. It is a short walk to the main street in Banff and restaurants and shops. Also it was very quiet despite being so close to town. There is a semi-busy street in front, but the rooms are in the back and I couldn’t hear traffic when I was in the front anyway. (There is a train... More

We had a wonderful weekend at the Poplar Inn. Ideally situated, close to everything in downtown Banff, yet off the beaten path. Easy parking out front, which can be a challenge even in mid-September. Great breakfast and good insights from the innkeeper, a Banff native.

Stayed here for 2 nights at the start of our 10 day Banff,Lake Louise, and Jasper vacation and everything was great. Susan, the owner was great. Very knowledgeable about the area. Breakfast was great both mornings. Great location as it was only a 5-minute walk to center of town. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed for two nights as part of a longer trip from Vancouver to Calgary. We had some difficulty communicating with Susan before arrival and considered staying elsewhere. We wish we had. Upon arrival, there was a note on the door and instructions for entry. We tried to get Susan on the phone with questions about parking and amenities but... More

I apologize for not being available to greet you. I try my best to be there for my guests but as I am by myself I sometimes am required to leave for other obligations or appointments. I always leave messages for my guests and try to make them as clear as possible. I will make better efforts to use my... More

We stayed for four nights and found the Poplar in a very convenient location as it is only a five minute walk into town. Although it is on a fairly busy road, there is no road noise in the rooms as they are at the back of the property, accessed from an entrance and balcony that are separate from the... More

Two first floor bedrooms with king beds (great sheets) and each with a private full bath were ideal for us (2 couples) traveling to Banff. The Poplar Inn is clean and well managed, with a private entrance, porches and mini kitchen/common room. Breakfasts were excellent, different menu each day and all very fresh and well presented. Easy parking and you... More

We just came back from our Banff trip and we stayed at The Poplar Inn the whole time. We loved the convenience of the Inn as it is located just on the edge of town within 5 minutes walk to all the downtown spots. Susan, who owns the Inn has wonderful recommendations for restaurants and other things you may need... More

Our stay started on an unhappy note. I found a pre authorisation on my card for the amount of one nights stay. This would have been fine except that I was not told that this would happen and therefore she did not have my permission to do so. When we arrived we found a note on the door saying that... More

Elyse, I am sorry that you did not know that I would pre-authorize your card but that is a common practice in this business. When you give your card number and the expiration date out you are agreeing to the terms of the Inn or hotel and the cancellation policy. I did not charge you until after you left. You... More

We arrived, with another couple , sharing the two bedrooms, and it was perfect for the four of us. We had the breakfast nook/gathering room, all to ourselves. Susan was the perfect hostess.
