Resort was VERY LARGE, if you like a wide spread of things to do then this is the place to come we prefer smaller resorts personally. It was a little over whelming, had to take a trolley to various activities. Took us a few days to understand the lay of the land. Shout out to a young man named Antonio from concierge, he went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay for our family. Even booked our COVID test and filled out all paperwork for the lab, this was Canadian government mandated to return home. We were able to enjoy our vacation and Antonio did the rest!!! Restaurants are quite expensive on the resort, we did a quick trip to Walmart which saved a lot $$$. Beach is “ok”. Nice but nothing special. Pools everywhere! Great scenery Very Well taken care of property and lots to do.

I want to leave a review for Jesús Escamillo who helped teach us Spanish and was an overall great guy. We also enjoyed many other things about The Grand Mayan. All the staff were really nice, food was good, and went on some adventures as well.

The rooms are very nice and large. Around 900 square feet large. Housekeeping is quite thorough every day and the property is well maintained. The pools are everywhere you look and a great layout with several obligatory bars in the water. The beach is strange. Clearly the beach has been extended over the years such that it’s almost 100 yards deeper and four or five feet higher than the water. Why? God only knows. The sand is ok, but seems more dirt than sand, but that’s comparing it to Hawaii or the Caribbean. The breakfast buffet at Samba is excellent. The usual world tour of breakfast foods, from Mexican to American to European. Love it! Dinners are an entirely different matter. Stupidly over priced with either rude or indifferent service is the norm. Food quality at dinner is very mediocre. Most Americans will think it’s good, but if you’re a foodie at all, it’s fair at best, to downright horrible. For example, o e dinner we had shrimp and half of them were still grey and raw. We complained and were told that’s how they’re supposed to be, and then the waiter walked away. Later he came back (much later, as is the norm at these hotel restaurants) and I showed him a couple of articles on my phone about why one shouldn’t eat raw shrimp, he shrugged and then just walked away. One night we left the property and went to a restaurant at the Nuevo Vallarta marina a short walk away and had a wonderful seafood dinner, buckets of the best tequila and the price was less than half what Vidanta charges for their piss poor hotel restaurants. I’d strongly recommend coming here so long as you know not to eat dinner on the property. The Nuevo Vallarta Marina, the Puerto Vallarta Marina and downtown Puerto Vallarta are loaded with great restaurants and many of them are relatively inexpensive, so stay at the hotel and eat dinner off the property.
