Huge resort, took a bit of getting used to and was a little over-whelming at times. Getting in and out was a pain, but once in you could stay there for the whole vacation. Some good eating out options, nice pools and scenary. The on-site supermarket was expensive, charging for the coffee and water welcome pack was cheeky. Rooms were superficially nice but ours needed some TLC. When we arrived it was not guest ready, we complained and this was addressed with a more thorough clean. Using the balcony splash pool was not a good idea, stagnant water was a breeding ground for mosquitos, best to avoid.

A super great experience as we were welcomed by Rafael Campos Moscada and got the chance to practice our Spanish. So helpful, friendly, and a warm reception to Vidanta. A gorgeous setting, so much to do, a perfect spot to celebrate my birthday and our anniversary.

Edgar Canela Bell Boy was great. He explained the processes of our luggage being transported in great detail, and ensured the safety of our personal belongings under his care. Edgar made sure we knew our things would be taken care of with him.

My family and I visited Puerto Vallarta for the first time in mid November. While we were exiting the airport, we were brought into the lobby of tour guides. Not sure of who they were, we showed them the QR code of our booked taxi to Hyatt Ziva. We were made to believe that they were the taxi folks and told us they will bring in the taxi for us in 15 mins. We were shown pics of all the touristy places in PV and we showed an interest in scuba diving at the Marietta islands. We were then told that we could be taken there for free if we were open to sitting for a 60 min presentation at Vidanta, accompanied with free breakfast. Following that we could go scuba diving. A free bottle of Tequila was also pushed to us. Our first red flags were when they asked us to not tell our hotel Hyatt Ziva about this conversation and to hide our free bottle of Tequila and water bottles too. Flag#2 was that we were supposed to walk out of our resort the next day for the taxi ride to Vidanta. We had to pay $40 USD for some fees. The next day, as committed we showed up and were driven for 30 mins to Vidanta. We had packed our bags with towels, swimsuits for a scuba diving tour to Marietta islands. As soon we got there we were packed off in golf carts to their reception desk. With multiple waits to sit here & there, we realized we have been signed on to a sales pitch for a time share type of scheme. At the front desk, when checking us in for the free breakfast and presentation, they seemed hesitant about the scuba diving actually happening on the same day. We sat through a breakfast with one relatively young fresh graduate sales/marketing guy who is making small talk. With a direct question on what their model is and costs are we don’t get any answers. After breakfast we are walked through the resort, walked through their rooms, given some idea on what the cost of booking these rooms etc would be. More about their upcoming amusement park yada yada. Then we are taken into an office, where they tell us it’s $15,000 one time membership fee, with a million xyz benefits. It’s 3 hours spent on what was supposed to be 1 hr of our time and clear indication that no scuba diving is happening on the same day. When we got ready to leave, little did we realize we would each time be promised an exit only to be handed off to the next sales persons. The price got slashed down to as low of $2500 (!!) and it started to feel like a hostage situation. Each person in this scam, right from the guy at the airport to the last sales manager we spoke to is complicit in their knowledge of this being a scam and waste of the family’s time. After 6 hrs we were finally let off, with no support on actually knowing how to exit! What a scam!! Don’t go anywhere near this resort! Oh also, we did get our free coupon for scuba diving that we didn’t bother to use after such a terrible experience.

I usually stay at the Luxxe. But with as many family members and kids that we had we opted to stay at the Grand Mayan. Check in was a little more difficult than what we are used to. But we enjoyed our stay. One outstanding employee was Isabel at the pool towels. She is the kindest, sweetest lady I have met in a long time on the property. Almost all employees are nice. She was just very much more a sweet person who was always happy to help us and always made it easy for us to check out towels and return towels (something we are not used to). Always wears a smile. Always welcoming. I actually looked forward to checking out my towels so I could say hi to her. She is a bright light at the resort for sure.

I have been GM member for over 20 years and this was my 1st visit to NV site. This is a huge resort where its impossible to walk out, except from beach and they designed it that way to keep you hostage. The outside landscape, restaurant and amenities are beautiful but the GM rooms need major renovation and maintenance. Outdated furniture, water leak marks, musty and mildew, broken appliances, old TVs with limited english speaking channels, no streaming services, balcony pool area filthy, bad tasting water, broken or missing ice machines on several floors. Nice amenities include the market, shuttle buses, free entertainment at Santerium, gondola, restaurants, lazy river and Brio spa. The service from maids and servers are outstanding. Pool area is often overcrowded so you must get a spot early. Beach is a good distance walk and they do not have chairs near shore. This resort is definitely not for anyone with mobility issues using walkers or scooters. The amusement park is years away from completion and I would challenge the safety measures - its not US standards. The airport is always a nightmare and you have to get pass a gauntlet of rude and obnoxious time share hockers to exit- why does Mexico allow this at every airport? They tried again to upsell us on Grand Luxxe/Bliss which is an indicator they do not have any plans to upgrade the GM suites anytime soon -same with their Cabo location. While the resort is 5 stars, the GM suites are 2 stars. Unless you have money to throw away, I would venture over to newer resorts or hotel brands where loyalty is rewarded if you are considering purchasing timeshares.

We traveled with friends - 3 couples occupied 2 bedroom master suite. Beautiful spacious rooms, your own small pool on the balcony. Property is very well maintained, staff is extremely friendly, polite, and helpful. A lot of pools, lazy river, newly opened theme park, great shows every night - your dream vacations! But be ready to spend a lot of money on food and drinks - prices are just as high as in Manhattan!

Overall great resort, lots of activities and beautiful grounds, pools, lots of great restaurants. Prices have definitely gone up since our last visit in 2017. We last stayed in the Mayan Palace and when we booked through RCI we saw the Grand Mayan was available which is supposed to be a big upgrade in room / pool area etc. When we arrived we were in what used to be the Mayan Palace, almost the same we had back in 2017. Very disappointed, the just changed the names around so feel we were mislead into thinking we were staying in a better newer unit. The Grand Mayan rooms now are dated furniture, appliances, shower, pots and pans. Definitely needs upgrading. We had booked a 1 bedroom and decided to bring our 2 adult boys along. Room says sleeps 4 and has 2 pull out couches. They are not pull outs and were very uncomfortable, boys didn't sleep all week.
