This property was nice but staff was horrible. Our "personal concierge " did a sub par job at goving us neccessary information to get covid tests before we departed, which wasted a bunch of time. We were forced into a time share presentation that was supposed to be a " welcome breakfast" then when we arrived with our hungry 5 children they made it clear that they did not want to feed us. Wasted 3 hours of our day. Then when we went to get our gift, which was masssages, they informed us the kids club was not going to be open that day, and that our 2 year old was too young to go. Information that could have been givin to us when we arrived. The 1 time we tried to take the kids to kids club we were told it was closed for the day even though there were kids in there. It seemed to be a very racist and or discriminatory resort. Most guests were actual Mexican people and they treated us like out casts. I will be strongly discouraging ALL black people on all my networks to avoid this resort like the plague. There was mold growing on the beers in the minibar as well. And they only provide you with 2-4 soft drinks per day in a 2 bedroom suite. We had 5 children and this was not sufficient.

We had a great stay for one week as a couple and will come back. Here’s the good and the bad. Good - Adult pool was super relaxing - cabanas pool side were great but you had to get there by 7 am to claim one - easy to get other chairs at the adult pool - Great drink service daily by the adult pool thanks to Alejandra - she knew our drinks after the first day and kept them coming with a smile… she was awesome! - Stunning beach. Soft sand, clean, amazing ocean swims and playing in the waves - Great food at a la cartes - notably the Italian restaurant. Servers went above and beyond and food was great. - Good food at buffets but the buffet was a bit chaotic and messy - we tried to stick to a la cartes or the pizza snack bar which was more chill - Clean room and gardens - we stayed in the club side, which is older - but quieter… and near the adult pool - great lobby bar with live music many nights - amazing Mexican party one night on the pool deck - have never seen something like that before / it was like a wedding for the whole resort! - Lots of locals, so more local food than American which was nice - walkable to Bucerias (and hour and a half a long the beach - take a cab back… or even a horse on the beach) which was a great adventure - everyone was super kind - even the vendors on the beach - and the service overall was lovely. Some reviewers said they felt second class if they weren’t time shares but we never felt that way … staff took great care of us - delicious drinks - we read reviews about low quality liquor but we were happy to see Malibu, Absolut vodka (regular, mango and lemon), different kinds of tequila (Cuervo, Casadores and el Jimador) and Bacardi rums Bad - As other reviewers said, process to get reservations at a la cartes was brutal. As a party of two, we were able to get in most nights, however. Nobody wants to line up on vacation - should be able to make your reservations when you check in. - not all restaurants open every night - Not as bad as we thought, maybe because only two groups checking in when we did, but the time share sell at check in was annoying. Reception told us we had a ground level room that wasn’t very nice and then the time-share woman tried to tell us she would upgrade us if we signed up for the time share presentation. When we go to the room we were pleased we had a top floor room with an ocean view - it seems resort will do almost anything to get you to participate in the time share presentation, including lying about what room you’re in. - The VIP beach area and restaurants for time share guests only were annoying but we knew it coming in, so meh. - plumbing In the room was hit or miss. Some days the water was brown and some days there was no water for a bit… but it always came back and didn’t really bother us - it might be better in the resort rooms - theatre and night club rarely open if you care about that (we did not)

Staff was kind, friendly, helpful and great with my baby. It was almost exclusively families and older people. The room did not have a bathtub (despite picture on site showing one) which made it challenging with a baby. Internet wasn’t included in the all inclusive package however we ended up getting a code for free. We were able to get adjoining rooms which was nice with the baby but the adjoining rooms didn’t have bathtubs… may not matter to most but we would have liked both options. Limited restaurants open and couldn’t go to one breakfast a la carte as only for gold members. There was another a la cart for breakfast that had a nice menu and we could get in easily. Very little Mexican food and no avocado/guacamole at the buffet except on the Mexican fiesta night. Buffet was okay (not great) and snack bar was disappointing. The fiesta every Tuesday was great. Good food Mexican and fresh churros) and a mariachi band. I believe the site says you’re only allowed 3 a la carts in a week but this was not enforced when we were there (it wasn’t very busy). However, VERY annoying that you have to line up to make reservations for a la carts around 440 everyday (maybe earlier if it’s busier at the resort). There was also a pool and beach club (in addition to the restaurant noted above) that we’re for “Gold members” only. I’ve never been to Puerto Vallarta before (always go to Mayan Riviera) and had never experienced going to an all inclusive where there were areas we could not enjoy/use but I’ve heard this is more common in Puerto Vallarta. The nightly entertainment wasn’t very good compared to other resorts I’ve been to. The sunsets were beautiful and the beach was nice and long so great for walking.

We had a great family vacation. It was the first time back to the Marival since Covid. The menus and food in the Specialty restaurants was better this trip than previously. The food was served hot and delicious. Alonso made check in and out very easy. Dalia is the best and always provides great service. Alejandra at the adult pool was fabulous. She took great care of our family of 7. The captains are always accommodating. Thank you Cristhian, Leo and Daniella. Rene at La Pergola always provides great service. Looking forward to our next visit

It is no longer what it was before... low quality... it had just been in April 2021... as in the last 15 years; and it had always been the best thing about my vacations, but this year was the exception: the lady in charge of the omelet station at CASA BELLA restaurant, bad-faced and angry all the time; if from the first day you do not leave a tip; the following days she treats you badly; many new waiters...but with old vices: if you don't leave them a tip they say goodbye to you with very exaggerated, ironic and burlesque "thanks"...this in the same restaurant; CASA BELLA. Before...(in previous years)....at the Piazzetta dei Forni restaurant you ate a delicious pizza; very good quality ingredients were perceived and savored; this year was different: the dough was very bland and undercooked, the ingredients were perceived as low quality or "ECONOMIC" quality. In the bars of the pools they did not have dark beer, only in the bar of the pool for adults and in the other bars inside the hotel. In general, the attention was good...except for the places I already mentioned, and the bad experience I had last year with the manager of INOVATION TRAVEL...I think that next year I won't be back...after 15 years uninterrupted :( It is time to look for more options.

Beautiful place, had a relaxing visit Staff is very friendly. Special thanks to: Dalia - best bartender and best drinks Daniela - Capitana en Pérgola y Chelsea Christian - Capitan en Amalfi Guillermo y Edgar - mesero y asistente de Amalfi, y Elsa Macias - Recepcionista del miembros Rosario - Capitana de La Bamba Beware, when checking in - you have to sit with a timeshare representative to get your bracelet and room keys. They are pushy and don’t take no very easily. I feel like I have to be rude to get my key so I can get to my room. This is the unpleasant part of the stay

This is our 5th stay at Marival (the Grand Marival when we stayed before). Weˋve always enjoyed coming but we definitely noticed some changes since before Covid and not for the better.  We won't be back. Here's a list of what we had issues with: - Check in was a BRUTAL timeshare sales affair. Stop it! I've been traveling since 2:30am and I need to get out of these winter clothes and get a drink in my hand! - You have to be a VIP to get anything resembling 5 star...they get the preferred a la carte restaurant times, the cabanas on the beach, access to the beach restaurant, etc. It wasn't like this before. My guess is the reviewers giving anything more than 3 stars is a VIP. - On one occasion at the Italian restaurant my wife became sick afterwards. We believe it was cross contamination of fish in her food as she has allergies to shellfish, although made specifically made mention of this. - On another occasion at the Italian restaurant one of the guests at our table could not get plain lobster she requested and paid extra for. Twice it was served with sauces and then she gave up. Perhaps it was a language issue. After that we had to ask to get additional service as our table was being ignored.  We all left and did not return to eat there again. - The La Bamba Steak restaurant is closed and the Mai Tai restaurant is only available to VIPs. The food selection at La Pergola is essentially the same as the Italian restaurant. There is simply not enough a la carte restaurants available for a stay of 2 weeks or longer. - The a la carte restaurant booking arrangements are ridiculous. We come for a vacation but have to stand in line in the middle of the afternoon for an hour to book a time for dinner instead of enjoying our vacation time. The period from 7 to 8pm is unavailable because we are not VIP and VIPs are allowed to prebook, yet they have they're own Mai Tai restaurant to enjoy.  So you have to eat at 5pm or after 8:30. I understand the need for reservations, but there needs to be a better way to deal with this. - The lunch food at La Bamba was horrible. Always cold, or warm at best, and greasy. We ate there twice and then only went to Casa Bella for lunch.  We miss having the old pizza place open for lunch...it was amazing and I couldnˋt wait to enjoy it again only to find out it had changed. - All our drinks, no matter which bar, tasted like it was made with artificial sweetener like aspartame.  Horrible. 5 star resort and only bottom to lower mid shelf selection of alcohol available. Hereˋs what was good: - the rooms were clean and in good repair - the service by all staff was excellent...as always - the Mexican Night food and entertainment was fantastic!! - the food at Casa Bella was great - the evening entertainment at the lobbies was great We only vacation for 2 weeks or more at a time now and, unless there is at least one more a la carte restaurant available; the issue with the Italian restaurant is resolved; and better drinks, unfortunately we wonˋt be returning to Marival.

At Bar Mirabel, Dalia and Estefani were exceptionally helpful and friendly whenever I had questions or needs. We saw them often and they were always a pleasure. One of the best parts of our stay at the resort.
