Hotel's Favorite
We just stayed at the Marival Distinct for 6 days and it was absolutely over the top. The food, the service and attention to detail make this a must visit. We’ve been to a few if not most of the high end resorts in the area and this visit is one for the books. We travelled with two kids both under 5. We opted for the first floor demi pool two bedroom. If you have toddlers I would highly recommend this location. Makes tanning, eating, drinking and keeping an eye on the kids easy. The Demi pool is ideal because the waiters are always walking around so you never have to wait long for food or drink. We had one waiter our entire time and he was fantastic. He was always within reach. I never had to wonder when he’d be around for a drink because he was always around. He was working three families near us and they were all very happy. The restaurant by the main pool has excellent food. We tried the full menu and can tell you that everything was delicious. The drinks are absolutely incredible. We tried the emotions resort and I can tell you with certainty that distinct is a far superior resort in all aspects, especially drinks. Pillow menus made this a great visit. I was finally able to get some good sleep at a hotel. Room service food was incredible. The restaurants were all very good. Insu was amazing and the restaurant on the beach, Mosamare, was very nice. Loved having breakfast there. The views are incredible. This is how you make up for not being right on the beach. Eventually they will need to purchase the empty lot behind the beach area.
Cleaning service was also amazing. Never without clean sheets or snacks or drinks. They went above and beyond. They were also quiet when cleaning the rooms when our infant was sleeping.
The kids club on site is very cool too. The two girls working it were fantastic and our oldest had a blast doing arts and crafts and they made her feel very welcome. I wasn’t worried about here being there playing by herself. They do offer a nannie service in case mom and dad want to get away for the evening but we didn’t try it this go around.
As a visitor one thing to consider but shouldn’t discourage you from visiting is that this hotel is not on the beach but it does have its own beautifully lined private walkway to the beach that leads to a magnificent view and beach access for the hotel visitors. It’s a short 3 min walk so the older folk may have some difficulties getting there but if you take your time you will be fine. You can also request a golf cart give you a ride you just have to wait a few minutes for them to pick you up.
Overall it was an incredible experience. Only a few things that can be better. After ordering room service the wait to have the dishes picked up was a little long even after we requested they come in. This is an easy fix. Have transport on standby to walk from the hotel to the beach. Having to wait a few minutes isn’t a huge deal but when you want to catch the sunset it’s nice to have immediate transport. I know, I know just leave a little sooner but this is a vacation. You shouldn’t have to plan ahead. You should just do. This I believe is also an easy fix. Also why were the bicycles locked up when you are in an enclosed resort. That’s just silly. One other thing is the deal with flamingos golf needs improvement. When I spoke to the concierge they gave me one set price for the entire day. If you play you kno proces change as the day goes on. It would be nice to have that diled in or have a deal available. If not there is nothing wrong in saying sir we don’t have a deal with them. We can facilitate the reservation but the price will be the same. I’ll edit this if I come up with other items but over all the resort is incredible and the service is above and beyond.

This was our second trip to Marival and it was refreshing to find the same standard of excellence in every aspect of the resort. The entire staff, from the bell hops out front, the front desk, the cleaning staff, and the wait staff, were all friendly and greet you with smiles. They are all polite and professional and are obviously trained well and also seem to hold personal standards for success.
The food, in all venues, remains amazing. We dined in all restaurants and loved to revisit some of our old favorite tapas at Insu Sky Bar as well as at the other venues. Sorry to see the octopus at Mozza Mare absent from the menu but there were other great replacements; my steak was cooked to perfection and the multitude of sauces served with it was a nice surprise. Wentz, one of the great waiters at the pool, was so attentive to me, my wife, and daughter and was politely engaging but not overly so. A real hard worker and made our times at the pool very enjoyable. Also the kind gentleman who cleans sunglasses and does the ice cream cart was a great guy.
Our room was spotless and the housekeeping staff remains attentive to detail. The rooms are well-kept and the maintenance staff was fast to respond with a minor and easily fixable light bulb issue.
Be sure to tip the staff and cash pesos are much better than adding to the bill - these gestures go a long way and the staff certainly should be rewarded for going out of their way to make your trip great (and they do). I usually left between 70 and 100 pesos for breakfast and at the pool, and 15-20% at supper. Easy to exchange for pesos at the front desk, just bring your passport with you.
We look forward to coming back to this amazing property. What peace of mind to know what you are getting every time you book here!

Marital Distinct is superior because of the staff who caters to your every need while always wearing a smile. From the front desk staff (*Alexandra) to the food servers and all of the pool staff (*Carlos & more) everyone pays attention to providing top service. Timeshare staff possess the typical sales methods of chasing you down to attend a presentation. We felt a bit stalked by them and had to turn away from them frequently. There is an obvious behavior difference between the hospitality staff & sales staff.

We arrived at Marival Distinct Luxury Residences on Jan 19/20 for 1 week. Our introduction to the resort began with a gentleman named Victor, who gave us a very, very hard sell to join a breakfast "presentation" the next morning which he said was not a timeshare sell but it was definitely some sort of attempt to sell us something related to property. He even tried to get us to sign a contract that we would attend. We declined and he pushed and pushed until I started to get angry. Finally, he backed off but not before explaining that he was on commission and then we felt badly for not going. Next we were taken to our 1 bedroom Penthouse Suite which was spacious and quite nice, except for the splatter of unknown material on the wall next to the bed. Also, the Expedia write-up on this hotel specified that there was a separate bath/shower. There is not. The hotel sent cleaners to take care of the wall, but wound up painting it which left the smell of wet paint in our room for a few days. They also neglected to pick up their paint fans for several days which sat in our bedroom until the day before we left (we were there 1 week). They did send us an apology note and bottle of wine with cheese/meat plate, which was thoughtful. The rooftop pool is literally knee deep. In order to get the "spectacular ocean view" which is advertised, you had to be IN the pool. You could not see the ocean from the chaise or table area. We were really dispappointed in that as it was why we booked this room. The view from the lower living room deck was nice, but in direct sun and no shade during the day. These 1 bedroom Penthouses do NOT face the beach. They face the other side of the hotel. This hotel, while lovely in appearance, is very focused on sell, sell, sell. We felt it immediately upon arrival. The spa called our room trying to sell, they have ladies on the beach from the spa trying to sell. It was just too much for an all-inclusive. Lastly, the food options are limited and you have to take a golf cart shuttle to their sister property (Marival Emotions) down the road to get to some of the restaurants. We bought a bottle of wine at the Italian restaurant at the other resort to have with dinner and my husband had to leave the restaurant, go downstairs to the front desk and wait in line to pay for the wine. It's a terrible system. Took him about 20 mins to pay for the wine while I sat and waited in the restaurant. On our first full day (Monday), we tried to get reservations at Mozza Mare, the beach restaurant, and were told they were booked up all week (we wanted an early dinner and were offered times in the 9pm range). A manager did get us in once but an all-inclusive booked up all week?? All in all, we felt we paid twice as much as we should have for the experience we had. We would definitely not return.

It is a shame you didn’t enjoy your penthouse suite; all of them no matter in which of the buildings are located, have an amazing view due to their location, the top floor; the ones located in building 1 have an amazing view to the south of the bay, the ones located in building 3, they have the view to the north of the bay We deeply regret all the inconveniences you had during your stay with us, this is definitely not our Four Diamonds standards and we must apologize with you for that. The first impressions were very nice. Staff quickly greeted us at the car and walked us into a check in lounge where we were offered drinks and a gentlemen sat with us while our receptionist got our paperwork ready. I was waiting for the plea to join the timeshare talk to begin and after we were all checked in, that’s exactly what happened. And taking no for an answer was not what this man wanted to do. We were tired and our 5 year old just wanted to begin her vacation. Finally, we were allowed to get our room key ( which they held on to until the time share man could get his time ). We were walked to the room, shown around and we were our way to vacation
The property itself was very nice. The room was large and clean with all the amenities you will need on your trip. The penthouse had a balcony and upstairs a patio with a small pool, which was nice and relaxing. Every evening staff would come in and turndown the room and leave a candy or cookie on the bed, oh and they had a pillow menu with different pillow choices for your heads enjoyment.
The resort itself was nice, very small, very quiet. My biggest complaint about the resort is there is not any smoking restricted areas. So the poor kids playing had to deal with the smoke of all the rest of the people staying at the resort. This includes the outdoor sections out the restaurants, and 3 of them are only outdoor. Gross ! It’s 2020 while are you people being so gross ??
Finally the food. The food was not good. Even at their reservation only restaurant, which we needed to visit at 9pm 4 days after we arrived because they were “full” was not great. It was just ok. The upstairs skylounge “ tapas” restaurant served meatballs that had the consistency of cat food and the taste that I would have imagined cat food would taste like. In the morning , at their breakfast buffet the food not covered was COVERED with bugs. And inwokle cringe when someone would scare them off and an unknowing guest would grab some food that was just covered. I’ll attach a photo.
Lastly, the service. All was great. The staff would continue to check on you weather you were at the. Beach or pool, keeping the drinks full. They would require you to sign a “ check “ when you left for 0 dollars but then you’re given the opportunity to tip, which they deserve. All in all, there are much better resorts to stay at. I would not choose this one again

We stayed here for 7 nights and it was by far the best experience I have ever had in a foreign country! and mind you this is Post pandemic travel. On or off the resort we felt safe and comfortable, everyone everywhere was friendly and helpful. Temperature checks were common when entering restraunts or comming back to the resort, and the hand sanitizer was more accesible here than anywhere i have seen back in the states. We booked this stay as our first Family trip with our 3 children (aged 5, 7, and 16) and everybody could find things to do all the time. nobody was left out ever.
Starting with our room, 6th floor with our own private sitting pool to look out over the bay, sunsets were to die for! the mini splits in the room worked great and kept us comfortable even in the hottest of the day. the bathrooms made us feel like upper class! and we had a master suite to ourselves. the littles shared a room and the couch was folded out into a surprisingly comfortable bed for the teenager to have his own space.
kids club for the littles was great. small park in the middle of the resort next to the pool with shade and cover. The two girls that were there most of the time were friendly and made the kids feel included and welcomed all the time. they planned crafts and activities that were clearly labeled with times and descriptions on a board near the park.
The beach was beautiful and clean. The staff was amazing, as soon as you walk toward the sand somebody was greeting you and cleaning and sanitizing everything before you got there. they brought towels for each of us and would flag down a waiter if our hands didn't already have a margarita in it.
We also booked a few trips off the resort and the bell boys at the front door would arrange for a taxi to bring us to our location and never did it feel the least bit sketchy. If you do decide to make the trip, Please do yourself a favor and go to Las Caletas it was amazing, but that will be for another review (shout out to Chai, Alam, Cristian, Elder, Jaime, Alejandro, and my Amigo Juan Manuel for making that trip amazing!)
The food we ate here was incredible! all the restaurants were clean and the food was next level! many of the restaurant had indoor and outdoor options for seating and the weather was so pleasant!
Concierge was amazing at guiding us and making sure we got the most out of our trip, thankyou Carlos for everything you did. the waitstaff was incredible, the housekeeping was amazing, i cant say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay. beyond incredible.

Marival is doing an excellent job with keeping everyone safe during Covid. All staff are wearing masks, temperature checks and hand sanitizer before entering restaurants. We were in a first floor Demi pool room. Highly recommend! Huge room that walks right out to the pool. The service here is impeccable. Felix by the pool assures your chair is setup like you want it, spritzes you with scented water, brings cold washcloths and cleans your sunglasses. Thanks to Lamberto and Octavio at breakfast and then the pool, always anticipating our needs and putting a smile on our faces. The food is amazing here. I eat Vegan and could find something to eat at every restaurant. My favorite was Insu, the roof top bar. The first night the chef, Valentine made me a delicious soup just for me. The next night Sergio, Gabriel and Herbieto remembered me and without even saying anything brought me the best vegan spaghetti. Will definitely return here!!

We recently stayed here for a week and really enjoyed our stay.
We posted a video on our YouTube channel under Alex & Erika for anyone interested in seeing a tour of the resort and our 2 bedroom suite.
You will pay more than other all inclusive options but I think it provides excellent value for the money. Compared to another all inclusive we stayed at last month in Cabo that was much cheaper the Marival Distinct was worth the additional money.
The staff was outstanding and really went above the beyond.
The food was very good, it exceeded our expectations.
The cocktails were also great. It was nice to order a cocktail with better quality alcohol and know that you would be served what you ordered and not some plastic bottle liquor.
We spent the most time at the beach club which was great. That was one of our favorite spots in the report. Easy access, a short walk away and a golf cart was always available if you wanted a ride.
My only issue was a couple times the "no fun patrol" manager would come around and ask us to turn down our music even when it wasn't very loud or nobody else was around.

We were please with the look and feel of the property on arrival. The open air lobby that opened to the the beautiful swimming pool area was inviting and set the mood for what every traveler desires....a beautiful facility, in a beautiful setting with copious amounts of food and cocktails. We had to endure a bit of a hard-sell pitch to buy a Spa massage package before we were handed our room keys, but the cocktails that were given to us made it easier to bare. Other than that one distraction our check in process was easy, quick and painless.
We were escorted via golf cart to our 2 room Penthouse suite, but after getting settled in we realized the room was dirty; unemptied garbage cans and hair on the floor caused us to call the front desk and ask for the room to be cleaned. The Cleaning staff was soon in our room taking care of the mess, but in our mind we were already thinking, "what else is not clean?".
After getting settled in and touring our room (which had a private pool on the roof), we set off to find the beach. Marival is located among other resorts, but it feel secluded. There is easy walking access to the beach, although it should be noted this property is not actually on the beach. We found the beach and continued our exploration with the pool. The pool area is beautiful and well cared for and the pool staff is very good. They are quick with food and drink, which is not always the case at and all-inclusive facility.
The food ranges from average to above average, but it does not approach "good". We ate at all of the Marival restaurants and the service is acceptable, but there was more than one issue based on a language barrier. To be fair, we were in their country so perhaps it is us who should have been required to speak better Spanish instead of expecting them to speak better English. On our last night we ate at a restaurant called Omaggio and it was bad. From beginning to end they got nothing right. The lady who seated us was not friendly (which was very uncommon), the waiter spoke almost no English and did not even come close to getting our order correct. One of our party ordered Lobster (which came with an extra cost) and it was so tough we couldn't even cut it with a knife. It was a one pound lobster and more that half of it was untouched. To top things off, the lobster was brought to the table almost 15 minutes after the other entrees. Everyone else at the table had finished their entrees (which were brought out at the same exact time as the salad), the plates had all been picked up and then the lobster arrived. The waiter apologized, but not one person in the restaurant tried to correct the problem or even acknowledged the problem.
I did speak to the manager of all the restaurants and he apologized, but the issue was over at that point and there was nothing to be done. The situation did funnel down to the concierge who initiated a conversation with me the next day. Again, he apologized and acknowledged that none of the issues at Omaggio should have happened, but there was nothing he could do about it other than to apologize and assure me he would make things right on my next visit.
On that point, I should mention that the concierge staff was outstanding for the entirety of our stay. The were very professional, knowledgeable and very helpful.

Firstly the positive. The setting of the resort is lovely and it is very well maintained. The beach club is spectacular! Ernesto, Himer and Fernando are excellent wait staff!!
We were expecting to come to a 5 star, 4 Diamond AAA rated hotel. While they present the resort as one of luxury, they miss the mark on so many levels.
When we checked in, the staff were forcefully trying to get us to go to a timeshare presentation and only told us about the restaurants. They did not tell us about any of the other facilities.
Places where they fall short are missing amenities in the bathrooms, inconsistent and very often late turn down service (sometimes we were already in bed), the surly and unfriendly waiters (some, not all), the unaccommodating kitchen and the unbending front desk staff.
Service from waiters is not consistent throughout the resort. Staff in Omaggio restaurant are excellent but this does not apply in all the restaurants. The same applies to the kitchen - Sometimes they were flexible in adapting the menu choices for special diets and sometimes not.
There seems to be a shortage of knives - the table is set with one knife and if you use it for the first course and they remove it, they don’t replace it unless you ask. Is this 5 star service?
In the beginning of our stay, we were planning on coming back for the Christmas week in December with extended family - party of 10. The main reason we would never return to
the Marival is over a $20 discrepancy for wifi service. We are 4 adults in a 2 bedroom unit paying full fare for 4 adults. We were not told ahead of time that they only provide wifi for 3 devices. We tried to make the case that 2 of the adults do not drink a drop of alcohol, could they not accommodate us and provide wifi for 4 devices. The front desk manager would not budge and give us wifi for the 4th. device. Please note that if you have a phone and an iPad or laptop, you are only able to use one device and you cannot switch between different devices. Or so I was told. So we paid $20 dollars for internet but it’s not about the $. It is about the unbending stance of the management.
Needless to say, we will not be returning.
