We had a lovely stay at the Punch Bowl. The evening meal was outstanding and was really what we enjoy about dining out, interesting and innovative dishes which were beautifully presented served by efficient staff. We felt that the accommodation was a little on the expensive side. Our room was very smart and looked attractive but in some areas lacked... More

Warm reception from friendly and helpful staff. Evening meal good but slightly less nouvelle cuisine and more traditional might help. Room (Danson) spacious and comfortable but old radiator very difficult to control so overheating a strong possibility. Country view from window. FM/AM/LW radio in room was of no use in hours of darkness. Coffee and tea are available at all... More

Managed to get a table at the last minute (how lucky where we!) on a very busy Saturday night. I recommend booking to avoid possible disappointment. The moment we walked in we were greeted by friendly and professional staff. The food was faultless and the atmosphere really great. A very enjoyable evening and somewhere we will definitely travel back to.

Two establishments a few miles apart on the same road. Make sure you end up at the Punchbowl Inn at Crossthwaite and you should not be disappointed. If you are unlucky enough to end up at the one at Underbarrow prepare to be massively disappointed, it represents everything that is wrong with dining out in the UK. We have visited,... More

We recently visited for dinner as we were staying in the area. Firstly I would recommend to book as due to guests staying at the inn some nights can be pretty busy. On entrance we where met with a welcoming warm smile and quickly seated into a nice ambient cosy area. Service was superb, the menu was varied I was... More

Review: 28th February 2015 From the very first email that received a prompt, polite and accurate response, to the standard of location, interior decor, accuracy of staff, warmth of staff, great service and high standard of food quality and presentation... we were thrilled to have found this location. We needed a little pick me up in the middle of February as it seems too long to our next holiday, so a Saturday night staying in the Lake District was in order. We had a busy day out in the fresh air on Saturday and arrived at around 5pm where the complimentary scone and tea was served on arrival... More

We came here a year ago, and thought it was amazing, so booked it again for the last night of our holidays, and it didn't let us down. Both food and service were as good, if not better than we remembered, and we are so please we went back. There is a really good range of food on the menu,... More

We had lunch at the Punchbowl Inn today and were very impressed. The bar area was lovely with a cosy atmosphere and a log burner and the restaurant was equally as nice. Nice selection of ales and although not a huge menu there would be something on there to appeal to everyone. I had what I can only describe as... More
