I have never been to Cumbria and the Lake District before and staying at Damson Dene was a great first experience. I had a lovely room overlooking the duck pond and garden. The room was spacious and well-appointed. The bathroom could have done with an upgrade, but it was perfectly adequate. There was an excellent selection of dishes for the...

I took a group of 45 to Damson Dene. The service was excellent, all with a smile. The leisure facilities were much appreciated by members of the group. As we had an early start every day, the pool was opened early to enable members to swim before breakfast. The food was delicious and the efficient service, to ensure everyone on...

For a three star hotel, I really cannot speak more highly. I have just returned as a member of a coach party, having spent 4 extremely comfortable nights in this warm, friendly atmosphere. The staff were very kind and helpful, the food was of an extremely high standard and considering that we were a large party, was tastefully presented, of...

Was looking after my 91 year old Mum for the weekend, and although we have a superb family house to go to - just felt the need not to cook etc, so decided that a third visit to the Damson Dene would be a great idea. Easy to book by phone, and arrived 9:15pmish on Friday. Nice welcome on arrival...

The double room was very small and we had trouble walking around the bed, and there was nowhere to hang your clothes if you needed more than six hangers. The hotel is not a long stay hotel taking the above into account. I feel the the hotel should advise people that there will be dog's roaming around off their leash....

Thanks so much for your review and stay. We appreciate your comments and constructive feedback about your stay. We don't hide the fact that we allow dogs, so people should be aware of that if they are interested in booking. However, we will redouble our efforts and ensure all staff speak to any guest who does not have their dog...

Stayed for 2 nights on a groupon voucher at the end of March. Yes, the hotel does need a bit of maintenance here and there but the staff and amenities at the hotel sure make up for it. Rooms very comfortable and warm, leisure facilities excellent. We had a three course meal on the first night (included in deal) which...

We had booked this and seen mixed reviews over the hotel. On arrival it was having building work being done. We were placed in a cottage and it was more than we had expected, very spacious and clean. We decided to have meals and drinks in the bar area for the two nights. The food was great and very hot....

Thanks so much for visiting. I'm delighted we exceeded your expectations and very much appreciate your kind comments about our accommodation, staff and food. It is too bad we lost that fifth star on the back of a £1 postage charge, although the receptionist was just following procedure as we have had people forget much larger items (like suitcases!) and...

Please know, this is not a MacDonalds, or a Hilton! This is a small, really very friendly place to stay, great value for money. Very very friendly staff, led by Wayne the manager. He is fun and friendly, chatting to everyone, asking if everything is all right. He spends a lot of his time telling you how great his staff...

We had an overnight stay with breakfast and dinner with families and friends. First impression, the hotel is undergoing some refurbishment/building expansion which unfortunately spoiled some of the lovely surround scenery. Inside the hotel, it felt dated and lacked character. The spa facilities were not the best; swimming pool was good size but was shared with a swimming lesson class,...

Stayed for 1 night's bed breakfast and evening meal after buying a Groupon deal. Lovely quiet and peaceful location. Used the Spa facilities which are very good. Rooms are what you need though shower was a bit on small side. Very nice views from bar and lounge area. The food was superb, the beef which is local produce was cooked...
