Are you looking for a place away from it all nestled in the beautiful Lake district? We stayed here for a few days and loved it. Elizabeth and David were so cordial. Her cooking changed my view of English food. The birds we saw in the gardens were amazing. It was a quiet, wonderful change of pace.

We stayed here for one night on a journey from Scotland. The rooms are well appointed and clean with free wi-fi and TV. We ate dinner here the evening we arrived and it was a good freshly cooked meal. We also enjoyed our breakfast. This is a lovely quiet location and convenient for Kirkby Lonsdale. Not the place to stay... More

We stayed for 2 nights whilst doing the 3 peak challenge. Liz and David couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. The rooms were clean, spacious and very comfortable. The beds are amazing - we're all going to be investing in memory foam mattress topper. The evening meals and breakfast were very tasty and of a good size. If we're in the... More

We have just returned from our third visit to 'The Head' and loved it. Liz and David are lovely hosts and were so sweet to our dog Tom even when his behaviour resembled that of a fractious toddler! That meant so much to us and really was appreciated. All the rooms are in a delightful garden filled with birdsong, we... More

We stayed for one night at this beautiful little gem near Kirkby Lonsdale. I say beautiful because the double room was perfect for our needs, separate from the main building with a lovely peaceful garden at the front of it. All four rooms are situated in a block next to the garden area. The suite itself was very clean and... More

Very friendly place. Very peaceful and ideal location for a quiet break away and some walking. Dog friendly. Very good pub food and although we didn't sample it the full English breakfast looked a thing to die for. Rooms at the rear of the premises are perhaps a little tired but perfectly pleasant.

We stayed for two nights and accommodation was very comfortable. With an 11 and 14 year old it was great to have a big family room with two proper single beds behind a partition to give them some privacy. The room was very warm and cosy. Both the evening meal and breakfasts were excellent with plenty of choice. Would definitely... More

Two nights stay in a comfortable and cosy room with en suite. Plenty of choice at breakfast including full English which was very good. Friendly hosts who made us and our dog most welcome. Ideally situated for a relaxing walking break. Evening meals recommended, we ate in the bar both nights and had two great meals.

We stayed here to break up our journey from Scotland back to Dover Kent. It's in a beautiful, quiet setting. We were greeted by Elizabeth the owner who was friendly, very welcoming and the room that we was given was beautifully presented and clean. We had an evening meal that was absolutely delicious. The prices were extremely reasonable and it... More
