Brilliant place to stay with excellent food. Freshly home cooked food and specials served daily Themed nights are back on and also Sunday lunch is now being served You can book through "Resdairy" to avoid disappointment
On arrival room was as shown in pictures from booking which was nice and in general all appeared good quality however the bed was one of the worst we have slept in, either old or cheap and small(could take bigger bed without issue). No air conditioning meant the room was so uncomfortable during the the night and with being on the ground floor didn't feel safe leaving a patio door or window open this coupled with the bed meant very little sleep during our five night stay. The site itself felt cramped all the properties on top of each other unlike other properties owned by the company which are more spread out, this appeared to be designed to fit as many lodges/apartments into the site as possible. Amenities where poor outside, putting green was 9 holes in a piece of grass which wasn't even cut short or rolled so defiantly no putting could take place and we did try. Crazy golf was something from a holiday camp in the 70's, concrete slabs with some coloured painted bricks and obstacles, and frisbee golf which went round the site so kids and frisbees flying all over, there was a kids play area to the rear which we didn't use as no kids with us. There are several other issue I could list but these are possibly related to our booking company according to management and also due to Covid related issues with we fully support but how things where being managed on site was poor to say the least and we actually felt like an inconvenience to them as they where only honouring a few bookings as the hotel isn't due to re open until 2021 now. All in all a very disappoint stay which we cut short ourselves and will certainly not return to Whitbarrow.…
I'm seeing lots of posts about hotels not solving people's visits due to the corona virus. I had booked this lovely hotel for an anniversary birthday gift for my in laws having spent a lovely time their for my sons birthdsy. I was worried about their visit and got in touch date changed no problem. Keep up the good work
Just back from a three night break at Whitebarrow. We had a duplex suite which suited our needs superbly, comfortable living room, splendid little kitchenette, excellent modern bathroom and comfortable bed, what more could you want. Food of course, the breakfast was superb and like many reviewers before us we a have to give special mention to the mango yoghurt, dinner was always well presented even if the menu quite basic, paninis, pizzas, steaks and burgers. As a gluten intolerant traveller it's at this point I must give special mention to the lengths that Whitebarrow go to for the GF customer. Almost every meal selection on the menu is available as GF or GF alternative but for me the best thing was the two (YES 2) draught gluten free beers, absolutely superb. One negative here, the wine list is far too heavy on price. The swimming pool, sauna. steam room and jacuzzi are fantastic with great changing facilities. The position of the hotel is excellent, 15 minutes from the M6, 10 minutes from Ullswater and 20 minutes from Keswick. We both enjoyed our trip and will definitely be back which is probably the best revieww anyone can give..…
The Whitbarrow is a welcoming hotel with all the amenities you need for a relaxing stay. The rooms were spotlessly clean , and very confortable. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly and the Eden cafe served very tasty and satisfying meals, Would definitely return for a second visit.
