Our stay at the Hotel was excellent. We drove up from Reykjavik on a Tuesday morning. We took the tunnel route and the drive is nice. The tunnel is a toll road and its around $10 US. They take debit and credit cards. There were a few waterfalls along the way which make for nice stops. We arrived a couple...

Just checked out after two nights at this lovely hotel. Our first time to Iceland, and earlier reviews are on-target - service is not cuddly "warm" (in the, say, southern European sense) but I think this is really a cultural matter. Service was friendly but not effusive, fine by me. Room was very clean, scandinavian minimalist. We dined both evenings...

We escaped from our busy sight seeing duties to visit the Snafellesnes region and was captured by the raw beauty of the landscapes. Hotel budir offers the intimate and warm enclave for us to rest and recharge. We enjoyed the gourmet meal at their shabby chic style restaurant. We even saw the northern lights while we were drinking local beers...

The hotel is nice but I think it is too expensive. The facilities and size of the economy room was average and basic. There was no view from the room except from a small window at the loft. We were lucky not to be allocated a room at the other part of the hotel as some reviews had rightly pointed...

This hotel is located in an idyllic and secluded spot on the south coast of the Sneafellsnes peninsula. The hotel looks great, the food is amazing. The waitstaff were excellent but otherwise the service was a bit cold. Overall very good.

The pictures say it all, the hotel located on an isolated spit on the south side of the Snaefellness peninsular. This is a very high quality hotel and comes at a price but is well worth it. Dinner was excellent but again very expensive as you come to expect in Iceland although we did go for the tasting menu. The...

We stayed for 2 nights and it was magical. The location is sublime and the countryside is beautiful. The hotel is warm and welcoming and beautifully looked after. My only comment would be that a few more vegetarian options on the menu would be welcomed, however, the food we did have was wonderful!! We will be back for sure.

I spent 3 nights here recently. We booked on the back of tons of great reviews. and the negative ones seemed to complain mostly about paying for breakfast or having a small room i felt the staff went out of their way to help us. they were great at recommending things to do while there (FYI they never responded to...

Absolutely gorgeous landscape frames the entire experience at Hotel Budir, and the beautiful church and vast open spaces creates a heart wrenching, but beautiful, sense of desolation. The hotel itself is quite simple, the lobby/bar area is very picturesque, but the rooms are in need of some improvements (dings and scratches on walls abound, toilet slightly broken). Our room did...

Hotel Budir is a truly beautiful hotel located in an excluded part of Iceland. We arrived on a particularly stormy night and walking into the hotel was as if awakening in a dream. The lobby and bar were so inviting and the staff was friendly and helpful. As we walked to our rooms we noticed a cute living area which...

Hotel Budir is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful countryside hotels in Iceland, just a short drive from Iceland's capital city, Reykjavik. The hotel sits in a lava field on the westernmost tip of the Snaefellsnes peninsula, in the western region of Iceland. Hotel Budir's restaurant, arguably one of the most romantic restaurants in Iceland, has been referred to as "The Mecca of Icelandic cooking", due to its unique and delightful cuisine. The restaurant's menu is seasonal and takes advantage of fresh local produce like seafood and fish from neighbouring villages such as Stykkisholmur, Olafsvik and Borgarnes. The hotel also organises and hosts a number of weddings, all of which are unique and tailor made with the wedding couple or their representatives. Many of the weddings ceremonies are conducted in the little church close to Hotel Budir or in the hotel reception; it is even possible to get married on the golden sand beach close to the hotel. In addition, the hotel also offers facilities for meetings and small-to-medium sized conferences thus making it ideal for business-meetings or conferences with colleagues.Hotel Budir has it all, a world-class service, fine food and drink and luxurious rooms, making it ideal for get-togethers with friends and family, or a romantic weekend with a loved one - all of which can be enjoyed in an indescribably beautiful environment. ... more   less
