The lodge is beautifully situated in a conservancy near a Masai village. Plentiful animals in the conservancy with easy access to the Masai Mara park. The predominantly Masai staff were simply wonderful. We had a great time with our guides and spotters (Joshua, Marco, and Jason). The meals were delicious and we loved our bush breakfasts and lunches! Our tent was extremely spacious and comfortable. Plenty of hot water for showers after the game drives. The lodge and staff exceeded our expectations in every way. The Masai and Kenya kept a piece of our hearts with them when we left.

My family had a wonderful time at this camp. We had the Forest Suite, which is a huge and fantastic space with animals that come by at night. The staff at the camp were truly wonderful, lavishing attention on us and doing extra things for our boys like bringing out marshmallows to toast and making them spears and teaching them how to throw them. They spent the better part of a day unplugged and chucking spears! We really enjoyed interacting with the Maasai folks and appreciated the presentation on their culture and traditions on our last night. The only downside to this camp is it’s a long drive from the main part of the park where the animals are abundant. But if you’re willing to chill for 90 minutes on a rough road at the ends of the day, you’ll see a part of the Mara that is more verdant, beautiful, and interesting than the open plains where all the other camps seem to be clustered. It’s worth it.

My father and I had the pleasure of staying at the Instinct of the Mara for three nights. This place is so beautiful and peaceful. The Richard and his staff was so wonderful, kind, and generous. They truly made us feel at home. The forest suite was beautiful with all the amenities. The deck facing the forest was prefect for watching and hearing wildlife. The food was incredible. The staff made a delicious spit dinner in the bush during sunset. And our sportsman and guide were the best! We saw everything we wanted to see and then some. This place is truly special. They not only work with the surrounding Masi community but their efforts in conservation help protect the wildlife and their land. I can honestly say Instinct of the Mara is a gem. We will definitely go back again! Miss you all! Iraida and Orlando

I was fortunate enough to stay over at Instinct of the Mara for one night in September 2019. I was part of a group of mountain bikers who had just finished a 10 Day Rift Valley Odyssey and this was the most incredible place to finish at. After a super long and hot day on our bicycles, we were welcomed with cool drinks, welcoming smiles and a delicious lunch. The view from the deck and dining area is absolutely beautiful and I didn't want to leave just in case I missed something coming out of the bush toward camp :-) My husband & I were so happy we upgraded to sleep in one of the camp's tents: a beautiful bedroom and super functional bathroom with lovely organic Kenyan toiletries for us to use. The bed was very comfortable and we had a fantastic view from our verandah. All the staff were super helpful and friendly and treated is like royalty. They even woke us up with freshly brewed coffee delivered to our verandah at 05:30 in the morning. All our meals were delicious and prepared with care. To top it all off, I was fortunate enough to be awake at 03:00 am to see a lioness walking past my tent. I was told by the Maasai askaris that she passes through that section of the camp almost every night. I would highly recommend this camp and hope to visit it again soon.

This is a unique and beautiful place to be Very private and secret in the middle of the marvelous beautiful bush of Massai Mara the team is beautiful and kind, the meals are excellent and the tend you live in is luxurious and Highly comfortable! But don’t forget: you live in der middle of the bush and in der Night you hear several animals And their sounds close to the tent! At the early morning Safari we were able to see giraffes Zebras and other animals The guides namely Tize and Zombe, a Massai!, are highly competent and very helpful and showed us a lot during our safaris The lodge tries to be helpful to the environment using solar technique for the electricity

With my great surprise I discovered on internet this camp. It s a bad bad copy of Muthaiga Black leopard . The camp is the same, the tents are the same, the location is the same . But the difference is enormous !!! Before the tents were well furnished, with all comfort you needs, fantastic antique furniture, Lois Vuitton cabinet , triple mat table in the donning room, softy amd elegant cushion by interior designer , under plate in silver plate , Italian cuisine. The big tents built ed by an important Italian fashion industry was rich of an elegant touch . Now it s a bad bad copy of what is was . I posted the original photos , after you decide if it s convenient or not to try .

I had the great pleasure to stay at this magical location with a small group. Brilliant combination of sustainability, eco chic, with professionalism and care that can only be compared to fine hotels and resorts. The service is outstanding. "You will arrive as a guest and leave as a friend." True. The chef will spoil your taste buds, wonderful wine selection and cocktails will greet you after your safari. The wildlife sightings exceeded any of my dreams, following tracks was exhilarating. You will always feel safe here! The genuine kindness of the staff, combined with their training, will impress you. Only negative? You will have to leave. Say goodbyes. Won’t be easy. Yes, I believe the staff is used to tearful exits. Enjoy your stay!

I booked out the entire lodge for my small group and, frankly, was a bit apprehensive - knowing that it was opened only a few months ago. Our experience was exceptional! The staff - most of whom were herding goats a few months ago - could not have been more accommodating and helpful. David is a superb manager. Without exception, all of my travelers mentioned the kindness of the staff. Accommodations are comfortable and well-designed and the main living room is decorated with family antiques. We requested a back-of-house tour and were blown away by the thoughtful planning and sustainability of this remote lodge. And the food ... WAY beyond our expectations! The guides: exceptional! Being on a conservancy, we could go off-road in search of game (which was plentiful), and did not encounter lots of other vehicles as can happen at other lodges. There are many game lodges in the Mara, and it can be difficult to discern one from another, but you cannot go wrong with this property. Instinct of the Mara is true to its name.
