We arrived via the road to the north of the river which meant a 4-wheel drive trip across an estuary and a small boat to the island (the crossing was only 30 metres or so). There we were met by Betty the donkey pulling a cart with our luggage and the always friendly Bamba from the Lodge. Upon arrival we...

Just returned from a wonderful week at Jinack Lodge. I have travelled extensively in Africa but this was my 8 year old son's first visit. I couldnt have asked for a better introduction to Africa for him, particularly as he has African heritage. He has learning difficuties and autism and the environment couldn't have been better for him, he absolutley...

This really merits 4.5 stars but unfortunately TA doesn’t have this option. If you visit here (and I definitely recommend it), the first thing you have to do is adjust to Jinack Time. /Gambia Time. I had heard of Gambia time but in my previous 8 days, hadn't really experienced it, so I found myself initially becoming frustrated when the...

Everything you need is there: a good bed with muscitonet; a good shower, toillet and outside good seating. Reading your book resting in the hammock in the shade, what more...

We decided to come here as a family as we are not keen on too many holidaymakers. We travelled with our son, aged 13 and stayed on the Island for 2 weeks. Initially we were worried he may be bored, but this was the complete opposite. Upon arrival at Banjul we were met by Amms and he took us to...

Jinack Lodge is an absolutely amazing place, a great get a way. The owners Devon and Ams, cannot do enough to make their guests comfortable. The accommodation, is clean and comfortable, and in a Gambian style. The food is just amazing, cooked fresh, plentiful and tasty! Lots of beautiful birds around and the gorgeous sandy beach is to die for....

We visited Jinack ("eco") Lodge during our holiday to Gambia, as we wanted to see more than just the busier, touristy parts of the country. It was everything and more we'd hoped for. Jinack Island isn't actually an island, more a finger-shaped peninsula joined by a strip to the northern mainland. We arranged directly with Jinack Lodge to pick us...

We spent Xmas 2012 at Jinack Lodge and couldn't have asked for any more. We only booked for 2 nights initially but we ended up staying for 7 in all. After we arrived there was no way we were going to go anywhere else! The lodges are perfect and very comfortable, the authentic african food was great, candle lit meals...
