We stayed November 10th-17th. PROs: The property is beautiful, we loved the Tropical rain forest feel and vibe the place has. The grounds are well maintained and clean throughout. The pool bar on the infinity side is a fun place to hang out. Apollo and Marcello are awesome bartenders and were on top of our drink orders daily. The entertainment staff of Claudia and David were great hosting several trivia games, shows, and pool volleyball during the few times we played. Our room was on the top floor with its own infinity pool and the room layout was beautiful, the bed was very comfortable and we especially loved the whirlpool in our room. We used it daily to relax before going to dinner. The infinity pool on the balcony was more of a novelty then being something you’ll look forward to using all the time. The housekeeping staff is top notch and our room was always clean and turned down in the evening with our mini bar always refilled, they are also very fast with the service, we went to breakfast and came up to find our room was already cleaned. The Spa, We did the Spa twice during our week and it’s outstanding the service and treatment we received. Dora, Rosario, and Erika are excellent masseuses and were gentle and friendly. We h it got recommend the spa even though it’s a little pricey but the service you receive is worth it. Room service is amazing, Food is in our room in under a half hour and it’s arguably better then most of the food served in the specialty restaurants! Highly recommend to room service if you can’t get a reservation or don’t feel like waiting for a shuttle to go out. Overall the staff was excellent and very friendly, they always greeted us with a smile when walking through the hallways and restaurants. We never felt unwelcome for the entire week we stayed. Our previous trip to Mexico at a higher end resort made us feel like we were bothering the staff and few actually spoke English to answer our questions, the staff at El Dorado was completely the opposite and inspired us to add Mexico back to our vacation destination list. CONs: Golf cart shuttles with inconsistent service, It rained most of the week we visited and being that the property is so large, you’ll have to take a shuttle to get around to most of the restaurants. With the limited amount of shuttles and the large amount of people led to long wait times and missed dinner reservations twice during the week even with a 20-30 minute lead time before our plans. We were also not aware of having to take a shuttle all over the place when we booked and may have had second thoughts knowing prior. Lack of information, It was our first time at the resort and a lot of information was left out when we first arrived, like the fact that it was 3 days into our trip before we learned we had a concierge that was supposed to set up our dinner reservations. We also weren’t aware of a second pool on the other side of the property until the second to last day of our trip. These details should have been explained a lot better to us. By the time we made reservations, a few of the places were already booked up for the week and we had limited options which was even less due to long shuttle waits and lines. One thing that was very clearly explained to us was the time share/membership seminar they pushed hard on us. We got some perks out of partaking in the seminar like money off our spa and purchase around the resort, but the value for the amount of money for the resort membership was not worth it at all. Food variety, The seaside market was ok but lacked any real tasty dishes and was focused more on meats which took a long time to replace when the tray ran out. The same was for breakfast, it was a rare chance to get French toast or potatoes due to it running out and taking a long time to refill. The restaurants have many options but very small portions. You’ll have to order every course in order to feel fulfilled with dinner. Amount of entertainment, Sure trivia games, towel folding, painting a coconut, bingo, and the occasional pool volleyball game are great but that was really about it for the week. Other resorts have a daily list of activities and games for the week, this resort not so much. I enjoy pool volleyball and that was organized maybe two or three times during our stay. We saw some of the nightly shows and did the casino night, but it was kinda lame and nothing to really brag about. The fitness center, In a resort that holds hundreds of people, you would think the gym would have more then three treadmills and a small rack of free weights with two benches. The resort wasn’t close to full capacity so wait times for a machine wasn’t long during our stay, however at peak it would likely be impossible to get a workout in. Dinner reservations, I read on older reviews that restaurant waits were long and I’m guessing the reservations were put in place to cut that down however, when we finally learned about our concierge, we were informed that we need to book early for any specialty restaurant and most were already booked for the week with only a handful still open for a late dinner around 8-8:30 and even 9pm. Balcony infinity pool, This actually sold us on this resort when we saw it in the pictures but it’s a novelty. I stood in it and was ok, this is boring. It was also stagnate water which breeds mosquitos and it why the pool was loaded with dead bugs. It also is not filtered, the water doesn’t flow or have any filtration so aside from the chemicals they treat the water with, it’s not properly cleaned as a pool should be. Slippery flooded outdoor hallways, Not sure if it’s a drainage issue or what, but our hallways were constantly wet and damp the entire week and had large puddles in other areas. The staff worked hard to clear the floors but it made for some slippery floors which is a hazard especially after having a few drinks and making our way back to the room or a restaurant. Besides the weather cutting short some of our pool and relaxing time and some of the minor items we came across, we still had a great vacation and felt we got our money’s worth on this trip. We rate our vacations by how we are feeling by the end of the trip and if we felt wanting more time on the resort, content with the amount of time spent or bored and wish we took fewer days. We felt the 7 nights spent here was perfect and we felt content at the end of our vacation. We would recommend this place to our friends and may even return in the future.

Awesome check in experience! From the one that you arrive you can tell a great vacation awaits you. We were greeted by friendly hotel staff with a smile, a cold towel and a cold glass of champagne! The infinity edge rooms on the upper floors are best if you want to have a quieter experience. You still get the water experience from your balcony without all the noise. The pool gets kind of loud during the day over by the swim up bar but it’s fun to go there during the day for entertainment then back to your room. You must try the foam party it was so fun! The swings and hammocks inside the ocean are great places for photos and some quiet relaxation. We had a great stay. I will say it was more like a 4.5 star rather than a full 5 star but it was awesome. You won’t be disappointed. As far as the food it was just ok. We fined at the Asian, The pub and the no reservations restaurants. I was ok with it because it kept me from over indulging since it’s all inclusive.

The resort is a model of quality service that is seamlessly woven into every aspect of the experience: aesthetic, developed landscape, sense of security in procedure and design, logistics and variety of quality events, fine dining, and attention to details. All staff are qualified to answer key questions. The concierge staff are life savers who work diligently to make sure your time and energy is spent on enjoying your vacation. They are a valuable resource for anything you may need! Crystal and Luis in Concierge were invaluable. Tomas Sosa was our bellboy, shuttle driver and guide. He didn't miss a beat. The work ethic and pleasantries displayed were impressive so much so that it had a medicinal effect on our ability to destress and enjoy the culture.
