My partner and I recently went to El Dorado for eleven nights in September. First thing that we noticed was how beautiful our room was - it was even better than the pictures. The bed was huge, as was the TV and we walked in to chocolate and champagne waiting on us. The first thing we were told on arrival is that we could only eat at ‘Seaside market’ the buffet or room service. I’m a coeliac and I struggled immediately with the extreme lack of options for room service and the lack of allergen information in Seaside market. However, the food was good and the service was great. The next day, we had a tour of the hotel by the amazing Benjamin from the entertainment team. Benjamin definitely was a highlight of our trip, he never failed to make us laugh and went above and beyond to answer our questions. Restaurants are booked through a personal concierge and the options are La Carreta (Mexican), Mia Casa (Italian), Klay Talay (Asian), Gourmet Pub, and the Culinarium. I should mention that all of these restaurants are good with trying to accommodate people who can’t have gluten BUT the menus aren’t updated and some things marked as gluten free then aren’t when you try to order them. We ate at the Culinarium first where the food was good (the steak is excellent). Next, we ate at the Gourmet pub - the food was pretty good but not our favourites, though the portion sizes were great. There was only a popsicle as a dessert for me that was gluten free. That night (11th September), we were served by Alejandro and he made our dinner wonderful and was great at his job. We then ate at Klay Talay and for us this was the best food. They tried to make any dish I requested gluten free and the atmosphere was lovely. We were served by Aristeo (13th September) who was very careful with gluten for me and made our night excellent. The short rib and the coconut crème brûlée are definitely worth a try. After that, we tried La Carreta on the 15th September. Most of the food here including the fajitas and tacos were gluten free and they were stunning. It was my partner’s birthday and our server Bernardino couldn’t have been more smiley and really made our night one to remember. We also spent our last night at Klay Talay where we were served by Nelson, who again made our night one to remember and was excellent at his job. As for our other meals, we mainly ate lunch at the Beach BBQ because of the excellent views and we had breakfast there a lot or a few times at the Culinarium. A few servers who stuck out to us included Erick (breakfast 17th, Culinarium) who ensured I could have gluten free french toast, Carlos (breakfast 12th, Beach BBQ), Hermelindo (breakfast 18th, beach BBQ), and especially Osalde (14th, lunch, beach BBQ) who went out of his way to go to a different restaurant to get me a gluten free roll for my lunch. The only complaints we had about the food and unfortunately it was a big deal is that the allergens were definitely not labelled correctly (or sometimes at all) in Seaside Market, Beach BBQ, and the theme nights. I had a gluten exposure as did another girl I met who had a gluten allergy. In the cases where allergens were correctly labelled, there often weren’t options - for example, none of the buffet restaurants had a gluten free dessert option. If you are gluten free and go here, stick to the A La Carte restaurants for dinners and use your intuition! We did have a problem with my partner’s birthday where we had booked the candlelit dinner on the beach (160 USD) and when we got there, we were told our concierge hadn’t booked it properly and turned away at the podium. This was really awful and when we went to reception, they didn’t really offer apologies or solutions. Overall, any time we complained to reception (asking for allergy labels or with this situation), we never got our problems fixed. They didn’t rearrange the dinner for us in the end or even offer to. However, when we went to the lobby concierge Vera about another incident where we hadn’t been booked into a restaurant, she offered sincere apologies and fixed the issue for us immediately. If you want a problem solved, I recommend seeing Vera. When we tried to check out, the receptionists couldn’t remove the charge on our room for the candlelit dinner we hadn’t received so we went to see Alejandro (main lobby, TUI lanyard). Alejandro is THE BEST. We explained to him the situation and he could see on the system we were never let in and within five minutes he had fixed our issue and personally walked us over to a receptionist named Darwin who had also worked hard to help us. I can’t sing Alejandro’s praises more. Overall, the issue with my partner’s birthday and the lack of allergen information and accommodation did have a negative impact on our holiday. If you do have an allergy, be careful. BUT, the four stars are because the standard of the food and facilities were amazing. The staff and servers made our trip. The entertainment team were also great at involving us and adding fun to our trip - the ones that stood out to us aside from Benjamin were Alejandro, Fernanda and Maria. We had so much fun with them doing the quizzes and volleyball, etc. We had some fun beach zumba ran by Mike and Jaidy too. There were some TUI related things that went wrong such as lack of fitness activities but the hotel itself exceeded our expectations, and the staff really make the place as excellent as it is. Definitely worth a visit.

We went to seaside suites for our honeymoon 5 years ago and HAD to go back for our anniversary! Never disappoints. Incredible food. Incredible service. Incredible location. The most incredible staff/employees ever! “Sexy Elber” MADE OUR TRIP. He is amazing and a huge asset to this location! He created so much fun for us while we were there!! We also loved Ohlahleeoh (not sure on spelling), but he was our bartender at Cotorros and we LOVED him! He was amazing and made the best drinks! They take wonderful care of their guests. I couldn’t say enough great things about El Dorado Seaside Suites! 5 star!!!!!

I’ve been fortunate to visit various 5* hotels in Mexico, Jamaica, DR, Cuba etc and had very high hopes after reading reviews and the info about this hotel thinking this would surpass them all however having just got back this is much more a 4 star, potentially 4 and a half at very best. I want to leave an honest and fair review and one I would’ve appreciated seeing prior to booking my recent holiday. The rooms are extremely tired, more like “exhausted” in fairness and very dated. When we arrived the initial room we were put in was old damp, smelly and very run down. We complained and in all fairness we’re given an upgrade to a beach front room which was definitely nicer but in no way incredible, 5 star etc. Even though bath tubs in the rooms which are another main selling point for the hotel look like they belong in the 1990’s and have seen better days. It is worth noting though that the reception moved upgrades us without hesitation which was appreciated. In the TUI side of the hotel there are two main pools, a quiet one near reception and a more lively one with a swim up bar where the activities take place. This is extremely dilapidated with broken tiles on the floor, inside the pool (I sliced my toe whilst in the pool) and at the swim up bar. The pool is very dirty and tiles needs cleaning. The table service by the pool is very hit and miss and again nothing like 5* hotels I have stayed in the past which offer this service where the waiters are attentive and regular. The food is very mixed. The speciality restaurants are generally great and easy to book. However, the food in the buffets, breakfast and most especially lunch, is poor. The food is not varied and not very fresh and the service is very poor, often waiting a long time for waiters to take drinks orders and clear plates. Also, on the description on TUI it boasts the room service food menu which was supposed to add to the luxury of the hotel however this was another huge disappointment, with the menu mainly consisting of burgers, pizza, club sandwich etc. To summarise, this hotel is by no means horrendous, the staff are lovely, friendly people and some of the food in the speciality restaurants is great. However, if you are going and expecting 5* quality I would definitely reconsider. I think at one point this may have been a quality hotel years ago but those days have long gone and the hotel is in desperate need of a refurb and update and sadly does not deliver what they or TUI advertise.

If you are thinking of booking here as part of the Tui Blue For Two collection and you are looking for a romantic and chilled out environment then this resort is possibly not for you. If you are happy with a party atmosphere then it's perfect. The Hotel is very beautiful (apart from the premium block, this looks like a high rise block of flats) and the staff are completely amazing and work very hard, the food is also the best I have ever experienced at an all inclusive resort. The Hotel also has lots of Instagram spots, so if you are interested in this then again, it would be good for you. However, if like me, you were expecting it to be like other For Two hotels you are likely to be disappointed. The premuim block is a high rise block of suites, we stayed in the premuim swim up rooms and we had a lot of noise from other rooms. We could hear our neighbours going to the toilet as if they were in our room. Lots of people take speakers out onto their patio areas and play music loud enough for other guests to hear. The pool is busy and there are groups of people doing shots through out the day. Although the premium pool is meant to be for premium guests only, other guests do come in and use the pool so it can be difficult to get beds there. One day we came back from the beach to find someone had used our private beds and left their pool floats on our patio. I had to go to reception one morning at 1am as the TV in the next room was blaring, I tried knocking on the door but no answer, so I called reception 4 times and they didn't pick up to me. We had an entire day with no water and electricity and were not informed that this was going to happen, one of the other guests lost her medication as it needed to be kept in the fridge. We were woken by a generator at 5am that morning. The hotel has 24 hours room service which in theory is brilliant, but our neighbour ordered it every morning between 5am and 6am and then didn't get up for it, so the butler had to knock on the door several times to wake them up. We eventually had to move rooms to a beach front room which was much quieter and was very far away from the main bar. After two days in this room we arrived back from the beach to find scaffolding had been erected at the side of our room and there were two work men there. We found the construction work very disruptive, I have several videos of the noise levels, I wish I had been informed about the construction work before hand, but I wasn't. There are large groups of guests that travel together and tend to be very loud, hence the party feel, they also eat as large groups in the restaurants so it can be difficult to get a romantic meal out. The waiting on staff are amazing and work very hard, they have to put up with some difficult behaviour from other guests and that can be uncomfortable to watch. We did do the dinner on the beach one night, the food was amazing and the setting is lovely, however, it is next to the busy bar and also there was a rock quiz on the beach and a rock band the night we did it, so again there was a lot of noise. There were large groups of guests gathering on the beach with speakers playing loud music with not much consideration to other guests. There is a guy who sells drugs on the beach, this may or may not be a benefit to you. The poor rep had queues of people complaining to her, she tries her best under very difficult circumstances. So please be aware that Tui are not properly marketing this resort, it is not what you would expect from the For Two collection

So... we booked this " trip of a lifetime" with Tui... we upgraded our seats to PE, chose the specific seat upon booking and upgraded our rooms to " swim up suites" ... 18 months later and we come to day before travel- tui took it upon themselves to move us so we werent sitting together on the plane- distaster! i didnt want my teenage daugher sitting for 11 hours next to a stranger- especially after we booked and paid for specific seats so far in advance. 8 hour of phone calls to Tui and they fixed it- eventually, the 4 of us were split us but at least we sat next to someone we knew. Then the fun started when we arrived at the hotel! we specifically booked twin rooms as were werent couples- hotel advised us they dont do twins FULL STOP was double or nothing.... we mentioned the room we booked had sofas in the them so one of us woul sleep on the sofas- again- misselling by Tui- there are No sofas in the bedrooms . When we got to the room one of them had a stench that was quite frankly like someone had died in there. Despite the actionf of a team of cleaners- the smell never went rendering the room unusual so 4 of us slept in one room that night. The following day after spending 6 hours in reception they found another room - room didnt have a smell but was FILTHY, no wifi, shower didnt work and the bed was broken. the hotel was full so the hotel were unable to move us. We asked the rep to come to the room to examine it, but he didnt... we were only there for a week so we put up with it and used our other room for the duration. Came to the final day and we used the hot tub /jacuzzi in the room ( for which we paid a premium) the towel that dropped into it by mistake came out covered in FAECES.... i kid you not- the jacuzzi was full of unmentionables... we have never stayed somewhere so dirty- and for a 5 star hotel this was unnaceptable. The hotel was billed as Adults only- however there was a wedding party there which meant there was around 9 children on site ( not a big deal ) but it mean they reserved the main nicest pool for them exclusively so we were unable to use it! HOWEVER, we had a lovely break, the staff on site are amazing, the food was good and the sun shone- would we go back ? no... Tui need to sort the resort out and respond to customer feedback.

El dorado seaside suites is a beautiful resort. We had a pool swim out room and spent 6 days enjoying the pool entertainment. Miriam and Elber were fantastic! But Elber made the trip even better!!! Food was fantastic Weather was great but wow hot and humid Staff very friendly Go and enjoy the pool and the entertainment Elber gives!!!

Thought I should write my review as we have been home for 2 weeks now. We have been to this resort 3 times before and to the sister resort Maroma once. We flew with TUI from Scotland. Our flight was delayed over an hour, but no major issues. On arrival in Cancun, we managed to get through customs quickly despite pressing red on the green/red button and needing to be checked. Our transfer (VIP Riviera Maya) was waiting for us despite the delay. Other visitors weren’t so lucky. We arrived in resort in just over an hour. Check in went smoothly and we were in our room, unpacked and having our first drink before the bus arrived. We booked a premium swim up and our room was all we expected it to be. There was a “Welcome Back” message on the bed as well as 2 hot chocolate spoons and 2 miniature bottles of something I think is alcohol. This was due to us being returning guests. On previous occasions we have had champagne, flowers, fruit, room sprays and T-shirts as returning gifts. Guess they are scaling down now. We were lucky to get this as other guests received nothing despite filling in the returning guest form. The resort was mainly as we remember it. Excellent staff, who go above and beyond. Amazing food in all the restaurants. We booked a visit to the spa, a must do for all guests. It’s amazing with the best massages ever. We booked restaurants via our concierge easily enough and booked moonlight dinner on the beach in the white gazebo. On this visit we had no towel art which was a bit disappointing as it was the highlight of our days, seeing what animal we would come into. Maybe something that can be reintroduced. We had fab neighbours, Jase and Lisa next door in 112 and Elizabeth and Darren in 114. Was a pleasure meeting you guys. Due to having a premium swim up, we didn’t have to take part in the daily sun bed race. We witnessed selfish guests on a daily basis take 4 towels from the towel box and place 2 on the dry beds and 2 on the wet beds, before disappearing until well after 2pm. This resulted in some premium guest being unable to get a sun bed around the pool at all. It is supposed to be policed but isn’t. On previous visits, premium guests had a towel card which was exchanged for a different coloured towel. This ensured that only premium guests used the pool and bar area, unlike now. Maybe this should be reintroduced also. I would be unhappy to find out that I paid a premium for these rooms and pool area to find out others were using them (heard guests saying they came daily as it was a nicer pool than the one near their room) despite the signs saying it was for premium guests only. As previously stated, we had booked dinner on the beach midway through our holiday. If you did this before then someone came to your room, picked you up and took you to your chosen spot on a golf buggy. This has now stopped, and you must make your own way there. We arrived at the white gazebo to find that not only was it not dressed as on previous occasions (tea lights in paper bags lighting the path, and the gazebo dressed in voile and drapes) there was someone having dinner. We returned to the reception to find out what was going on, to be told it was booked for us. The woman asked us to wait, and she would sort it out. On return she informed us that someone else had booked dinner on the beach and thought they could go anywhere. She arranged for them to be moved to where they were supposed to be. We then walked back to the gazebo to see them change the tablecloth. The waiter apologised for the mistake. When he went to open our champagne, we had to stop him. We paid $320 for the upgraded meal, location, and pink moet champagne. The champagne he was going to open was the resort own brand. He quickly went to try sort it out, which took about 30 mins. They couldn’t find the pink moet that we ordered (They opened it for the previous couple) so we ended up with the regular moet. The rest of the meal went well. The following day we informed reception about our experience and how we were a bit disappointed it didn’t live up to previous visits. We were told that we would be discounted on the meal due to the mix up. This did not happen as we paid full amount on check out despite saying we were supposed to be discounted. It wasn’t documented anywhere. We were able to get Bali beds easily enough on the occasions we went to the beach. If your happy to walk along to the far end you can usually get one no problem. We stopped going to the beach after a few days, due to the vendors who walked up and down. These vendors walk into the resort through the front gate (We witnessed this). These vendors offer to sell you cigars, hats, sunglasses, and Cocaine. Even going to the bathroom, they accost you asking if you want to get high! I have travelled extensively and have never been offered drugs in a resort. We reported this to reception. They informed us it would be dealt with; however, it was not, as the men were there daily. I don’t expect this to occur in a 5* resort and to be honest it put me off returning. Everyone I spoke to say they were also offered drugs at the beach. TUI sell this resort as an adults/couples only resort. Selling it as a romantic destination. Unfortunately, it is no longer that as there are large groups going. A group of 30 isn’t romantic to me. Large groups in restaurants can cause it to be quite noisy and can mean a longer wait time for your food. There seems to be more of a spring break vibe at time, with numerous hen parties. Again, witnessed when they were chatting about visiting each bar in a set time. Due to this I don’t know if we would return. I get that after covid they need to make up the shortfall, but they are going to reduce the number of guests that want to return to the original resort.
