Sebastiana is one of the most wonderful people I have ever met. She waited on us and was so honest and assertive. The buffet restaurant was good. Definetly coming back to the BARCELO MAYA CARIBE just to see her. Great service....
Sailing with Carlos We had a great little ride with Carlos on the sailboats at Barcelo. It’s a free activity that you can sign up for in the morning. The water and wind were perfect. He taught us how the sail boat works and let my husband try it out.
Flew with TUI fron UK Manchester booked premium so had the lounge in T2 inluded which was really nice start to holiday, flight was 9.5hrs no issues in Manchester straight through completed immigration form on plane which you hand in when you go through passport control please keep the 2nd part safe for return journey. At present TUI are mentioning vistax we tried numerous times to pay before going but wouldnt accept our payment and read on numerous pages same happening and didnt bother, wasn't needed when coming home so dont worry about it. Cancun airport getting the luggage and transfer took foever after a long flight was quite stressful all in all another 3.5 hrs :-( The fun then started we all have different expectatith for our holidays and I have been to Mexico many times so I will be honest with my review. 3 bookings 6 people in party, I had all bookings under my email etc eventually arrive at Colonial we believed we staying at Caribe but they chnage at last minute even though I had emailed previously as had asked for suprise in room for husbands 60th cake maybe sparkly wine. Only had 1 reservation for 1 group no TUI rep on site had previously downloaded APP sent numerous messages they advertise always in contact 24/7 response supposed to be within 30 minutes still not had a response absolute waste of time no idea what I would have done if emergency. Eventually they get booked into the Caribe, now they mush have had my booking as one of he couples in their room had choclates, a cake and sparkly wine so they thought that was the norm. The Caribe reception staff where amazing as we all wanted to be together they couldnt move us that night but agreed to move day after, which I was so pleasd about, as the colonial rooms not sure if all the same but ours was so musty the bedding felt as if been put on not dry due to the humidy wasn't a nice feeling everything was damp, next day Caribe moves us from Colonial with rest of group. There in an evironmental tax you pay per room per night can only be paid by card or pesos 2 weeks was 440 pesos (there abouts) which isnt a lot for 2 weeks but we where not told about it and some in the group only had dollars. You can use any of the four hotels their facilities their restaurants at the Beach, Caribe, Colonial and Tropical, this is really good as the first few days we thought we where are at club 18 to 30 in Ibiza there was young adults everywhere in the Caribe pool, smoking in the pool cans plastic bottles everywhere not soemthing you expect and if this had been the only pool it would have been horrendous. utilise all the facilities there are plenty of areas to party or just relax, there is a lovely little adults only pool in the Beach hotel area which is away from the bech more internal and they have day beds you can hire for 20 dollars lovely secluded area, but again can suddenly get inundated with young adults, but found this very quiet early on. All hotels are easy to get to once you get your bearings, all have breakfast buffets, all have outside lunch grills and all have pool bars, some with daily entertainment. We found the Colonial nicest for breakfast and the Captain Morgans grill best for lunch, didnt like any of the buffets for night time unless you had food cooked there and then its just so hard for the food to be kept warm nothing was ever hot but saying that you would never go hungry. You have access to 5 restaurants a week and need to pre book. we only booked a couple as never knew what we would be doing, majority for the men need long pants and are very strict on this. A number of nights we just went on the off chance if they had availability and every time we got a table. There is nightly shows at 9.30pm in two of the theatres. These where better than average there is nothing to do after the shows apart from sit at the lobby bars which have no atmosphere this is something you have to make yourself, the other option is strikers which is in the Caribe side open till 2am had bowling and a variety of other games which you have to pay for it is very much geared around the Canadians/Americans but did show UK football there is a guide when walk in with whats on. The beaches we struggled the whole two weeks we where there due to the seaweed they are endless in the work that they do to try and clear a walk way into the sea but it is soo bad for them and also the rocks to get in cut your feet to shreds you have to wear shoes to go in as cant see them and a few people had some nasty injuries. We managed to find the turtles this is amaxing just walk to the Palace hotel looking out to the sea its the last hotel on left wade out and just wait for their heads to pop up for air, also there are a number of sting rays right at the edge. Mexico is a lovely place we did coco bongos this was our third time wouldnt go again gone more into being a night club than the amazing show it used to be but if you have never been go its an experience its just mad mayhem but make sure book a table. The canadians tip for everything we tipped if we had a good service some bars drinks where excellent same drink in another bar where terrible just try them all some bars we drank smirnoff other bars wouldnt serve it as not premium so dont know just ask. We had a lovely two weeks, if there is something you dont like remember there are three other hotels that you can use you will find one you like being at. There are a numbe of facebook groups where you can get plenty of hints and tips from. I used them all the time but be mindful you will not find any negative comments on there they will rip people to bits if anything negative is said lol so just use it for any questions. What we noticed the last few nights that they ran out of glasses around 9.30 so drinks where being served in take out cardboard coffee cups again this is not something I expected for a 4^ resort, but for some people they dont mind. It is a beautul place, the surroundings, the gardens majority of the people your holiday is what you make it I am sure within the four hotels you will have a wonderful time, the resort try their best sometimes its the guests that ruin it for others.…
Very good service, very kind and took care of us. We tipped them pretty good, and they made sure to match the top with there service and work. Really enjoyed coming to the buffet. The food was good. But I’m still very shocked with abricel. He’s very kind and thoughtful
Had Nicolas caalam for our waiter. Great, friendly attentive service. Top notch guy.. The breakfast buffets were the best stop for a meal each day. Dined outside where it was a lot more peaceful and beautiful.
Great worker very nice guy Thankful for letting me play fifa against him even though he bet us in penalties it was good to meet you and play with you, very good drink and fun timesEduardo Pedro Jessi Diana

I must confess right up front I am biased. Biased towards great service; great location; and great staff. The Barcelo was unknown to us until, at the coordination of a friend, we went on our 25th anniversary. The experience was, shall we say, life changing. Since then, we have mad 17 trip to the Barcelo Maya Grand Resort (not what it was called originally) and frankly it is, as the Resort Manager, Sr. Bacerra called it, the Barcelo "is our home away from home.". Now, to be clear the folks at the Barcelo are NOT PERFECT. There are many reviews to confirm this. They ARE HOWEVER the most sincere and kind folks in the hospitality industry. From the houeskeeper to managers like Senor Arturo Bustos (our most recent host at The Caribe Resort) they are one and all among the nicest and most accomodating hosts in all the hospitality industry. To date we have enccourage 12 couples to try the Barcelo and of these already more than half are regulars. Now, to be clear, I realize that after 18 trips we may get more kindness than the first year visitor, but it was how great our first visit was that we became 18 time guests! There is not better value and no better escape than the Barcelo Maya Grand Resort. Our son and daughter in law had their honeymoon there (and have been back 4 more times); our next door neighbors just spent their 5th stay with us in February 2022. My former coworker went in 2021 at our suggestion and in 2022 went back again. So, if your looking for a rowdy spring breaker location to get crazy, sorry, the Barcelo is NOT you option. But if you are a grown up looking to be treated, as my closest friend said after his first trip, "to be treated like a king" at a genuinely quality resort in the Riviera Maya, the Barcelo is absolutely to be considered.…
If you want an amazing cocktail, visit Rogelio and Antonio and Deysi! They are FANTASTIC and made our vacation fabulous! Barcelo is a fantastic resort to visit and we cannot wait to come back as soon as possible.
