The hotel is in a lovely peaceful situation directly on fhe beach with its breaking waves. It is a good 45 minute car journey north of the main town of Puerto Escondido Some might find it quite remote. Staff go to much effort and rooms are clean and well maintained. However during our stay rooms 16 and 15 had a pungent smell every night between 7pm and midnight. Food is below average but the property next door has good food and the nearby restaurant Omakase is excellent.
This place is perfect if you want to get away with someone and leave most of the world behind. The location is far from crowds and the beach is clean and wide. The rooms are beautiful, clean and each has a large plunge pool so you could actually never leave the extreme privacy of your suite. Expensive and a hike to get to- but we thought it was very much worth it. Staff was wonderful in the restaurant and spa.
This is a lovely, boutique hotel right on the beach. Nice pool right next to the beach. Very private beach because the resort is remote. Wonderful staff. Private bungalows. 14 rooms. Nice restaurant. It is remote and hard to get to - very rough dirt road. While they have air conditioning in the rooms, they are not "air-tight" rooms and the AC is not real large - so consider how hot it may be at night.
We had the best time here, I highly recommend this beautiful place with lush greenery, delicious food. The staff are incredible. We ate must of our meals at the hotel, after tasting the delicious food at the hotel was hard to go anywhere else. Daniel, Vielka & Ariadne in the restaurant made our experience in the hotel restaurant perfect. Stephanie at the reception was great, everyone in this hotel was smiling and so welcoming . Thank you Valle Escondido for making our stay unforgettable. The good energy here was just what we need it.. 🥰🥰 Nivia Weitzner HHI, SC
This Hotel is far away from puerto escondido town. Very calm and nice environment When a place like this has a bad management is not posible to have a good team. They have to call the taxis to pick you up , they have to help with reservation, is in the middle of nothing, but management don’t help. Very bad service , not because of the employs its because they don’t know how to do it. We have a nice stay, when we live the place a taxi that they call came to pick us up and the back of the taxi was wet. We ask for a towel, and the manager didnt want to give us and she vas rude. Also the cover of the room has stain and not toilet paper in the room , you have to call every day. Never space for aspa treatment, they don’t have people to do it. Not recommended until change management, very potencial to be a great place.…
One of the 15 spacious palapas, up little winding paths , with their own plunge pools , a hop skip and jump from the beach, was our home for 5 nights. This exquisite room was only marred by an enormous. TV (surely not required) and the poor lighting which made bed time reading virtually impossible, although appreciated use of solar power may be the cause of this. The a la carte food was excellent and the cocktails superb but the set menu dinners could be disappointing. Included breakfast not particularly exciting either. The staff were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. The pool bar was closed during our stay so they spent a lot of time running across hot sand collecting drinks from the restaurant always with a smile!! Be warned that this hotel is often used as a weekend wedding venue and "setting up" can begin during your stay. Equally the surf can be big, the waves strong and I certainly didnt swim.…
My wife and I came here for our honeymoon after getting married in Oaxaca City. We drove down from Oaxaca on highway 131, which we’ll never do again, because it was the most stressful and harrowing drive I’ve ever done. So, after the 7+ hour drive through the mountains and more potholes than you can shake a stick at we finally arrived at hotel Escondido. What a welcome sight after that drive. The peaceful and quiet nature of the hotel immediately put us at ease. It’s got a super cool design and is immersed in nature not just sat on top of it. We spent most of our days sipping cocktails by the pool because the surf was a little too rough to swim in but we didn’t mind. The pool, the food and the vibe were immaculate. Not too many people around but just enough to have some cool conversations. We especially loved our personal plunge pool and sun deck attached to our rooms. The staff was very attentive and the service was great. Since the rooms are immersed in nature you may get the occasional bug or lizard in your room but we didn’t mind at all. For us it was all a part of the experience. There isn’t much else to do in the area because of its remoteness so keep that in mind. Puerto Escondido is about 45 mins away so once you’re there, you’re there. There is an amazing sushi place walkable from there called Kakurega Omakase which we loved. Also, Casa Wabi is down the road a ways and is worth taking the tour. We loved our stay here and hope to make it back again soon.…
We stayed here twice. First time was 2 nights in May 2021 the second time was for 5 nights on November 2021. On the first night of our second visit I woke up with many bed bug bites all over my body. It ruined the rest of my stay. The hotel staff changed the mattress and cleaned the room but other than that did not yield much. Manager made it seem as if getting bed bug bites was part of the experience of staying in a remote location like this. Be prepared for less than sympathetic staff. The location and design of the hotel are nice but it seems overpriced for what you get. There are more affordable and better places to stay in the area. For what you are paying I found the service was average and was not impressed. I wouldn’t stay there again nor recommend it. Only thing excellent was the food at the restaurant.…
After spending a few spectacular days, very happy, I had an incident that makes me very hesitant to return. The last night I slept there at 2AM a scorpion came to my pillow and stung at my head. It was a terrible, painful, and very disconcerting experience. Half of my face and tongue fell asleep, I had a big headache, and my eyes were clouded. But equally complicated was that I did not have clarity what I should do, how to react to a situation with that gravity. The hotel maintenance janitor arrived, an extremely simple, friendly, and helpful man, but obviously unable to guide me or support me with medical or technical assistance that would give me peace of mind. The same happened with the person at the reception who sent me a painkiller and an antihistamine to resolve the situation, but who did not go through medical or technical analysis of the situation. Thank God the scorpion was not one of the most poisonous and my body was able to absorb the poison and 24 hours later I was quite fine, but if it had been one of the most lethal, I would have died in the hotel. The next morning, after trying to sleep in the same room where the scorpion appeared, I went to the reception where they did me the favor of calling a doctor who at 9AM ( 7hours after the accident) on the phone attended me and gave me some instructions to treat the scorpion poisoning. The hotel, even though that day the cleaning of my room was not completed, the fumigation is obviously not being effective, and the mosquito net systems to isolate the room are not working, was never worried about it. But more important than that, it that the responsibility of the hotel to ensure the well-being and safety of its guests, and THE HOTEL NEVER SHOWED RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENED TO ME. It didn’t go past the two painkiller pills, the call to the doctor and that the people at the front desk were kind to me when I arrived looking for help. The Hotel had no consideration and was never responsible for anything. In addition to paying the full rate for that night of terror, I requested a late checkout, that I didn’t get. For most of the people who do not live in the countryside, surrounded by scorpions, this is a very serious situation, full of uncertainty and stress, which was handled by the hotel in a relaxed way with very little importance. Even though the place is wonderful and beautiful, the hotel does not have the ability to guarantee my safety and the staff is not trained to achieve it. For a fee of $600 per night I would have expected the response of a hotel in this category.…
Hotel Escondido is paradise! This is the most luxurious and peaceful hotel we’ve ever stayed at. We loved every aspect of our romantic vacation at this gorgeous boutique resort: the individual casitas are beautiful and each has a private patio and pool, the food was phenomenal, the large infinity pool and private beach are gorgeous, the massage and facial were very relaxing, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. We especially enjoyed talking with Omar, who was our server each evening. He is very kind and excellent at his job. He greeted us whenever he walked by, always asking us how we were doing and if he could bring us any food or drinks. He was also patient as we practiced ordering in Spanish. We were nervous about whether the restaurant would be able to accommodate our vegetarian diet and whether there would be enough variety with the dishes. There was no need to worry! We had a delicious three course dinner, with a different appetizer and main dish every evening. Our favorite vegetarian meals were the pan fried cauliflower with romesco sauce, garlic rice with sautéed vegetables, vegetable burger wrapped in plantain and served with potato wedges. We also loved the guacamole, vegetarian tlayuda, gazpacho, and quinoa salad for lunch. The bed was comfortable and our casita was cleaned every day. We appreciated the variety of seating on our private patio and at the shared pool; there were daybeds, hammocks, dish chairs, and comfortable patio couches. As other reviews mention, you may find some insects and lizards in the casitas. This is because the casitas are open air buildings built on the beach! We were not bothered by these little creatures because we love nature and enjoyed the fresh breeze from the ocean. It would be impossible to expect a boutique hotel on the beach in rural Mexico not to have some insects. Complaints about the internet speed are ridiculous. Again, this resort is in rural Mexico and the internet is sufficient. Don’t come to Hotel Escondido if you want to spend your vacation on your phone or laptop! We loved having a bonfire on the beach and we highly recommend requesting a bonfire! It was very romantic and relaxing. Every detail is exquisite - from the scent of the hand soap and lotion to the calming tropical playlist. They are very intentional about creating a peaceful environment for their guests. This is the perfect honeymoon destination in Mexico. We couldn’t have asked for anything better and our experience here exceeded all of our expectations! We stayed for a week and didn’t want to leave! Hotel Escondido is a slice of heaven and a hidden gem. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.…
