Hostel • Apartments • Cafe • Pub • Kiosk • Activity Centre • Events & Meetings Florli is a roadless hamlet serviced by four ferries per day. It lies deep into the spectacular Lysefjord, close to the Kjerag bigwalls. Florli is popular for its 4444 steps right up the mountain - the longest wooden stairway in the world. It is also known for its hydropower history - in the power hall you can visit the exposition and enjoy the summer-open Power Cafe. Florli is a place to relax. It is also a basecamp for great outdoor adventures. Wake up to the perfect mirror of the silent fjord on a warm summer day. Feel the fresh fjord breeze in your face as you kayak along steep shores. Get your thrills hovering the void on the Kjeragbolten. Hike right up to enter to the Frafjordheiane Landscape Reserve. Get a lucky bait and row your fish-dinner to shore. There are plenty of others like you in Florli and you will find good company around the bonfire in the big laptent or over a beer in our School-pub.
Had a trip with our boat into Lysefjorden today. Beautiful weather and quiet fjord. We had put a pot of mutton cabbage on the stove before we left. Stopped at Flørli Cafe and saw what they had. Lightly salted cod, lovely oven-baked potatoes, sweet potato puree etc. Absolutely gorgeus! Not many deliver the same experience at such prices. Gold stick for dessert. The nature experience is included in the purchase. Really a nice experience. Recommended!

Had 6 nights at Florli and it was wonderful. Basic but very clean accommodation right by the fjord, the staff (Hessel and Deniss) were great and always willing to advise or help. Despite the challenges of coronavirus, they made sure that people could still stay and also were always full of tips and information. Friendly and relaxed place to stay.
Basic and simple but perfect for this location. Some great hikes in this area if you are active and typical Norwegian fjord scenery. HIGHLY recommended for a visit, especially as it is only about 90 minutes by Kolumbus boat from Stavanger city centre.
Come here for the great hikes or just to relax by the water, rental kayakks also available and food in the cafe when you get back. Traditional (old) accommodation but it suits the atmosphere of this place.
It is the sort of place that you will want to return to, a real travel find. Recommended !!

Had a lovely short stay in Flørli. The ferry brings you right to the bottom of the main attraction, the stairway to the top of the hydroelectric dam. We slept at the historic hostel and had a room with a fantastic view. It’s nothing like a hostel except for the shared barhroom and kitchen. You can order the breakfast basket for a more hotel-like stay. It was lovely!
Flørli is a fantastic pittoresque place where you can do spectacular hikes that rivals any famous norwegian nature site, just without the mass tourism. Have a swim in the lake on top of the stairs or in the river on the way down. There are several hiking routes out of Flørli, so we recommend staying more than one night if you’re into that sort of thing.
The cafe in the old powerplant serves lunch and dinner, but closes around 7pm, be aware. You can cook your own food at the hostel if your perfer eating later.

We spent one night at Flørli after hiking from Vinddalen. We were served a delicious dinner (very good vegetarian and gluten-free alternatives), tasty dessert, and serving of wine and beer.
The apartment was spacious and clean, overlooking Lysefjorden. Breakfast was ordered up front and was delivered after the dinner the arrival night. Fresh bread (also gluten-free bread), cheese, jam, fruit, coffee and apple juice.
Very good service, both before arrival and during our stay! Great value for money! Thanks!

We came down to Flørli after a two-day hike from Skrøylo. Great trip with a tent overnight on the way. In fantastic September weather, we came down the steep valley to Flørli, hoping for an open café. There we met atmospheric premises and pleasant hospitality. Game burger and good beer. Fantastic! Recommended!

Stayed for 2 nights with our girls, 10 and 7. The setting is stunning. We had a lovely, clean house, and were very well looked after by Hessel, who was really friendly and helpful. Generous breakfast basket, which also saw us through lunch, and then good dinners in the cafe. Really good walking in the area - a couple suited to a family, with several more strenuous options. The history (and the stairs) add that bit extra to the location. We also had a fantastic kayak trip, spotting numerous seals. A very special place.

This was one of the coolest places I've ever been. It was the highlight of our Norway trip! A very fun mix of history and great hiking and time in nature. Cafe was delicious, staff were friendly. I love how they revived an abandoned town.

Flørli was like heaven. To wake up in Radiobua and look at the fjord and the mountains in sunrice, what can be more romantic. And to climb the 4444 steps up, then you can be really proud of yourself. And Hessel and Ragnhild were friendly and helpful. We have had three wonderful days. We strongly recommend a stay at Flørli. Arnfinn Austegard

I am from Norway but write in english. I spent last weekend with a group from work in Flørli. We live in another Fjord of Norway. But even for us Flørli located in Lysefjorden was a really nice beutiful place. The two persons who is behind Flørli 4444 has exelent service. Nothing was a problem and the two dinners we had where amazing! We Hiked the 4444 stairs on Saterday, and It was a really cool experience. Also recomend people to walk 10 min from the school pub to get a better view of Lysefjorden a great viewing point. Really recomend the place. The rooms are not the ritzt in London , but more that good enough. Realy good that it was wifi in the dinner place, and on the rooms.

In terms of volunteering: Mismanaged, disorganised and poor communication with little to no equality throughout the team.
The website states: Summer: Hostel and Cafe helper and maintenance start and end.
Please do not be fooled by this as I was there in Summer and predominantly undertook outside maintenance on my own.
Had I wanted to do maintenance, I would have went at a different time of year.
Should you not be organised/fussed as to what you do or for how long in a day and are happy with unsocial solitude for the majority of the days or equally there are more than one of you then you will have a great time.
It was simply not my idea of organised, enjoyable volunteering.
I wish the guys every continued success for the future!

Hello! Thank you for asking. If you are coming after 20th may, you can drive from Oslo via E134 and Rv45 to Lysebotn and take the ferry from there. Beautiful but very long drive - two days suggested. Alternatively, drive the main route E18 and E39 along the coast to Lauvvik. Yes, you can park the car for free at both quays. Remember Norway is very big - be realistic about your plans and distances. For more info see florli.no/getting-here. Kind regards, Hessel - owner
