Having read previous reviews, we were expecting the worst from this hotel. However, whilst the bathrooms definitely need upgrading, there was plentiful hot water. The staff were helpful. The bedding was clean and changed daily. We did not eat here so can't comment on the food. So overall, the place could do with a makeover but it's ok.

Visited Hotel San Angel as part of a group tour in October 2015. Rooms are nice and clean, perfect for people who are looking for a basic but safe place to stay. Good location close to town which made it easy to walk around and avoid having to take transport. Only downsides were the temperamental wifi, which only worked in... More

The common areas are very attractive, and that is where the wifi is. The rooms are small and have no air circulation. Drinking water is available. It is time to update the bathrooms again. Points of interest and markets are within walking distance.

Nice building centrally located but is very run down. Has nice layout with good common areas to relax in. Rooms have a safe in the wardrobe. Avenue 4 runs past the front of the hotel with loud traffic going past 24/7, there is no air conditioning or fan so you can either be too hot or have it too loud... More

We stayed at Hotel San Angel whilst on a an Intrepid tour. This was the worst hotel which we stayed at all tour. We had a double room which was very small (on the 3rd floor) and facing the main road. There was a small balcony, but the sliding door didn't work very well so we avoided opening it after... More

Don't stay here if you are after a good night's sleep. The walls are super thin. Cleanliness is ok. Beds are old and not very comfy. Pillows are very worn and lumpy. Bathrooms are as old as the hills and don't feel clean. Patchy WIFI. On the second night a large tour group arrived in the middle of the night... More

Spent a couple of nights here: - bed was okay, not awful but not super comfortable - room didn't have a fan or AC, which is a must in such a hot place - opening the balcony door helped for a while, but also invited mosquitoes in - shower in my room had no power -- the switch between bath... More

If you value a good night's sleep, forget it. If you have a room in the main courtyard, you can expect to be woken at any time of night. Many rooms don't have external windows, so if you want any ventilation at all, you have to open the window onto the hallway, inviting anyone to climb in, along with the... More

Like all hotels we stayed at in Mexico, this one did not give anywhere near the same value that a motel of the same price would provide in the U.S. No screen on window in room which was right off a hall, and no fan or other cooling; kinda spooky having to leave our window open for air at night.... Since our normal hotel was booked we decided to stay here especially because of the price for the hotel and its location in Puebla. The hotel was close enough to walk to both the bus station to Choula and the central downtown Zocolo and the shopping areas. The hotel has hard beds, no safe and is just a bit outdated... More
