Everything started well: gorgeous palace, beautiful decoration, very nice room... Then came New Year's Eve dinner, which you absolutely want to avoid, especially at outrageous 700 pesos each! Soup was nothing but starch, arrachera (beef) was by far the worst you'll get to eat in Mexico, and so on, until a frozen dessert... made of pure fat and tasting of... More

This place takes my breath away and was a totally unexpected surprise. Cantera Diez is the perfect blend of old world charm and modern design. History seeps through its walls while modern artwork inspires and awes. No doubt this is one of my top 5 favorite hotels in the world and I say this after 40 years of traveling. The... More

This was my wedding night hotel. I lived in Morelia for 5 years and never knew the level and degree of excellenge that this hotel has. I highly recommend it for couples willing to spend some days in this magical city, and if possible ask for the grand suit that has a balcony in front of Morelia's cathedral.

What a terrific building in such a wonderful location. It is all suites and we got lucky and scored an upgrade to one of their top rooms. Enormously spacious with balconies looking straight out onto the cathedral. The building has been beautifully converted, a huge public space on the first floor with coffee and biscuits (cookies!) constantly on tap. Really... More

Really beautiful rooms and great location. The hotel is just across the Cathedral and Zocalo. But, the rooms are the best I've ever stayed in a hotel. Ample, great tub/shower and really comfortable. Recommend to anybody visiting Morelia.

You will read elsewhere on here about the welcoming staff and this fabulous hotel which mixes history and modernisation perfectly. I believe that it used to be a hospital and the staff, led by the exceptional Miriam, brilliantly supported by all (although Roberto and Alberto deserve special credit) treat their guests with the care and attention you would have found... Obviously this hotel and the rooms have been conceived by a designer... who has never slept in an hôtel. The hotel is well located and the patio is impressive and so are the rooms ( for the ones looking on the front because none of the others has windows)) . When it comes to functional matters it is another story:... More

I stayed at the Cantera Diez this November and had, I'm forced to say, an extremely negative experience. Without getting into too much detail, I was charged for a night at the hotel even though I had cancelled more than 3 days in advance (which, according to hotel policy, should not incur any charge). No staff member was able to... More

I was nicely shocked and surprised at how beautiful this hotel was! I booked the Cantera Suite and it was incredible ! Beautiful decor, huge en-suite with gorgeous bath tub, 3 decks, living room and powder room! We were greeted at the door with friendly staff and the front reception is so warm professional. They offered to show us the... More
