Looked okay online (and supposedly I chose a room with a balcony when I booked), but we wound up in Harry Potter’s cupboard under the stairs. Tiny, grim-looking room with terrible lighting, no lamps, and no windows to the outside. Windows open on the hall and make it feel very un-private. We had to ask at the front desk for towels. Bathroom smelled like mildew and toilet leaked around the base. No shower curtain or enclosure for the water so the whole bathroom winds up wet. Giving two stars for relative cleanliness and proximity to downtown, but you can do a lot better for the same price elsewhere, and a LOT better for ten or fifteen bucks more.

This is nice hotel in the center and there are lots of food options nearby. Its walking distance from Archo and Other attractions. Bfast on the rooftop was amazing with volcano views and food was amazing too, Best bfast we had in guatemala,Hash browns were perfect. · Wifi was not working in the Room, it worked fine in the lobby area but it wasnt connected well in the Room., so that can be improved, other than that we did not find anything problimatic Property response: Thank you for your comments, we are happy to hear that you enjoyed our location in Antigua and our breakfast. We will take your observations under consideration.

I stayed at El Carmen for 10 days in January. The location could not be better, just a couple of blocks from the Cathedral, and the entire Centro area is a UNESCO site. Right across from the hotel is a little park where there were occasional events like bands, dancing, cool cultural stuff. Only dropped one star because the first couple of nights the mosquitoes were buzzing! ( but strangely, not biting) I mentioned it to the room attendant, and the next time I went out, she scared them away. I never saw or heard from them again Wonderful staff, very helpful, stored luggage for me when I did a side trip. Will return for sure!

The location of the hotel is excellent being close to everything you want to see is a tourist. Our room looked out over the Square and had two decent beds, a little on the firm side but not too bad. For these things alone and the cheap price I would probably stay here again. There were problems though, a stinky drain which is sometimes found in old buildings, and the shower was absolutely terrible. The shower got the whole bathroom wet, never got hot, and had very weak pressure. No safe either. The people were nice.

We spent one night here as part of a G Adventures tour. The hotel is in the old part of the city directly across from the plaza. It is within walking distance of several main attractions. However, our room was extremely small and uncomfortable with one double bed and 2 towels. Some people have commented the hotel is very reasonably priced. However, I feel if you are paying top dollar for an organized trip, you deserve something better than this. We were surprised that a simple breakfast was provided in the morning that was acceptable.
