Nestled in Los Cabos, Hilton Vacation Club Cabo Azul is celebrated for its attentive staff and pristine cleanliness, with well-maintained grounds and rooms. The lively atmosphere and well-appointed rooms are a hit among guests. While the hotel's location offers easy access to local attractions, ocean swimming is discouraged due to riptides. Its range of amenities, including pools and dining options, are popular, despite some concerns about extra charges and overcrowding. However, occasional service inconsistency and room readiness upon arrival, along with the high cost of amenities, have been noted by some guests.

My kind and generous partner brought me to Cabo Azul for my 65th birthday. We've been fortunate enough to come to Cabo many times over the last 10 years but this tops them all!
When we arrived on Saturday, 20 July, we knew we were early for our arrival by a couple hours. Once the 3 o'clock check-in time passed, I was getting tired of waiting so I went to the front desk to check on the status. The gentleman told me he was going to see if there's anything he can do. He asked if I would be willing to take a room on the ground floor instead of the second floor. He said that it would have an adults only pool right outside of our door. How can I say no to that?! It ended up being one of the best rooms we've ever stayed in. Room 4106!
Similar to an apartment, but no kitchen, Which was fine. The room was beautiful, spotless, cool and comfortable. The bed was firm and very nice. Plenty of pillows and extra linens. The extra little touches of lighting behind the mirrors and behind the headboard Made it that much more special. Even though we were pretty close to the front reception area, it was very quiet! But the pool outside of our patio was the topper! A large uncomfortable, hot tub was also available. Neither of us have ever been much into the swimming part of vacations, even with lovely pools and amenities, but this was different. We were in the pool every morning and every night. Beautiful lounges and private cabanas surrounded the pool area. Towels were available, too. Poolside menu was very good.
I love kids and at the same time, the adult only pool was a treat! The water was a little warm sometimes, but it was so peaceful and the surrounding area was aesthetically Perfect.
Can't say enough about the staff! Every person we encountered was nice and friendly and willing to help , checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed.
My partner also treated me to a couples massage, which was a huge luxury! The spa had some construction going on, so they called us the night before to see if we would be OK with moving it to the beach side cabanas. Luckily, we got a day with a breeze off the ocean, which helped, and the massage was top-notch! Paulina was my masseuse and she was amazing! Lying there, hearing the waves and feeling the breeze while being treated to a wonderful massage, was the epitome of luxury! Could not believe how lucky I am!
The spa amenities were so lovely and a treat in every way! They even brought me another birthday treat while I was relaxing in the hot tub/cold plunge area. Cucumbers for your eyes, wet cloths for your head, lotions and soaps galore. Not to mention everything you need to take a shower and do your hair after you're done relaxing. Could not have asked for anything more!
The food at the resort was very good. Javier's was lovely and we enjoyed a delicious beach side dinner. Another birthday dessert and a wonderful evening.
Cabo Azul is located across the street from a lovely little shopping area with some restaurants and interesting little stores. Close to other very nice hotels where we ventured for other meals.
I cannot say enough about this place and I'm hoping that I am lucky enough that I can come back one day. Best vacation I think I've ever had! Grateful and thankful and fortunate and lucky!!

The resort is beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. We likely would have never picked this resort as it is not all inclusive and that is typically the places we like to stay; however, we were not disappointed by the experience.

We were originally in a two bedroom but moved to a one bedroom (by choice for an ocean view) and both rooms were very clean and comfortable. I loved that all the rooms have a living room, kitchen, and separate bedroom. Makes the stay comfortable and easy. Both the living room and bed room had tv's with HBO so you could watch movies at night.

Javier's restaurant was not open during out stay so we only ordered in-room service and from the restaurant at the pool. We were happy with almost all of our selections. The fish tacos were excellent! Food prices ranged from 120 -500 pesos. A burger with potato wedges was between $17-18 USD, Salads with a protein were around $17 USD, Shrimp Tacos $17 USD, and a mushroom pasta $18 USD (from what I can remember). The thing I did not like is that if you want water with a meal you are purchasing a $7 USD bottle of water (while it is large) it is something you have to get use to. Also, all soft drinks are served by the can so you pay per drink (about $4 USD). The resort has a little store where you can purchase drinks, snacks, and sunscreens but they are marked up.

About a mile away (very easy walk) there is a large grocery store (La Comer). We walked there with our back packs and small carry on, did our shopping, loaded up our bags, and walked back without any issues. It was great to have food to make in the room and have drinks (La Comber has a big selection of beer and liquor).

Directly across the street (extremely easy to get to cross) there is a shopping center with restaurants (Latino 8 was our favorite). At night there are people playing music and singing on the side walk and it was really nice. We always felt safe in the area and the resort has security posted at the entrance.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and the experience at the Cabo Azul Resort. The staff was so friendly and were always willing to help. I loved the different pools and how comfortable all the pool loungers were. You can tell the resort is well taken care of. My only complaint is that the beds were too stiff for us (but that is a personal preference).

Note: We are not vacation club owners but were guest of people who were.

This resort is beautiful! Our (#6506) one bedroom villa had a fully equipped kitchen, very large private veranda and amazing ocean views. My favourite was sitting on our balcony every morning with my coffee and watching the amazing sunrises, wow!

The location of this resort was perfect, it's an easy walk right out to the street were there are lot's of restaurants and shops to chose from, you can even walk up to the old town which is so beautiful. (You don't need to stay in the resort 24/7, its super safe to explore outside). Easy walk to the big grocery store too.

Pricing for food and beverage is expensive but it shouldn't be a big surprise this is a very high end resort. Take advantage of happy hour from 3-6. Rose our waitress at the pool took great care of us. I even sent back a pina colada because it just tasted like milk, she took it back no problem and brought me two more at no charge. That's great service!

And if you find the pricing for food & drinks to high at this resort no one is forcing you to eat all your meals here, you can walk across the street and support the local restaurant businesses. We did that a number of times to mix it up, our dinners out were great and at fraction of the price at the resort.

The Paz Spa at this resort was beautiful, I had the 110 min Zest Lapis treatment. Prior to your treatment you can come 45 mins earlier and enjoy the steam room, sauna, whirlpool, have tea, fruit infused water and light snacks. Very professional and super relaxing!

I should mention the beach & ocean... it's beautiful and easy to walk. You can swim in the ocean as some days are calmer than others. My husband and our friends went in the ocean one day and had a great time, all was good!

My husband and I had no complaints and while we are not resort people we spoiled ourselves for our 10 year anniversary and this was the perfect place for that. We loved it here!

Having spent time at other local resorts ( The Thompson, Vindanta, JW , Secrets, Viceroy ) I can honestly say Cabo Azul is heads above them all. Spacious, wide, open and sculpted units flourished in granite, marble, metals and dark woods maintained impeccably.
The infinity pools and plentiful jacuzzis are rimmed with more than enough luxurious lounge chairs and sun beds. A completely separate children's water slide mountain pool insures enjoyment for all. More than enough beach beds shaded with traditional Jalapa palm leaf roofs. Listen to the surf with beach service at the snap of your finger. Delicious foods brought to your lounge area with prices that rival the average local eateries.
A two for one happy hour offered daily as you experience a sunset that will etch your memory.
Javier's restaurant on property ( other locations in Las Vegas, Newport Beach, Crystal Cove Laguna ) and a Starbucks Internet cafe along with Fluer de noche beach front bistro couple choices of weekly and nightly dinner activity offers. We have dined everywhere in this town and so far nothing compares to what is offered onsite with price points well below local eateries and fine dining. How often can you say that about a resort?
An onsite market, gelato and pastry desert bistro, gift shops, sushi bar, this place has all and anything you need.
The shining light of this resort though is the Staff ! Not the parrot schooled "it's my pleasure" of the big box hoteliers these individuals are genuine. So efficient and kind. There is never a time I haven't received a follow up for any request I've made.
I arrived here 9 years ago and the majority of faces are the same year after year.
Same manager, front desk, valets restaurant personnel. This speaks to the quality of the management here. Retaining employees that feel that they are ambassadors of their positions is a game changing aspect in my view. I feel the professionalism of those running this resort. It's feels safe, I feel pampered , cared for.

I guess to sum up this review I can share that you will feel at home here with individuals attending to your every need in a genuine and caring way.

This is my 5th visit and the whole property never fails to impress.
The moment you enter through the massive and gorgeous wood carved doors you’re greeted by the friendliest staff who make you feel like you’re coming “home”.
The rooms are always so clean and decorated to perfection.
This trip we stayed in a beautiful 1 bedroom suite (2603) which overlooks the pool and ocean views.
It has a full kitchen and huge balcony where we enjoyed cocktails watching the sunset.
Housekeeping staff is always so kind and quick to bring anything you might have forgotten.
The pools were perfect and clean and of course the swim up bar so relaxing with the best bartenders.
We were so lucky to meet Ivan this trip!
He’s an unbelievable server with a fantastic personality!
Lucky for us he was working the pool area and made sure we had our drinks just how we like them and our pillows and towels always tidy when we came out of the pool.
He knew the menu so well and in fact had me try a new item (I’m a creature of habit and order the same thing) which I loved so much I ordered it 3 days in a row.
Ivan, you truly made this stay so memorable as I left feeling I met a friend and not an employee.
Can’t go without giving our host, Angel, outstanding compliments!
Angel helped us with a room change as we were upgraded (if we wanted to).
He took care of all our accommodations with moving us while we were at the pool.
Angel took the time to show us the oceanfront penthouse as I was questioning the different views of the penthouses.
I stayed in one before which had a beautiful pool/ocean view and I wanted to compare the complete ocean front vs the one we had previously.
Both spectacular and still trying to decide which to book.
Angel made sure management contacted me to give information for my upcoming stay.
The day we were leaving we were swimming in the pool and Angel came out with his big friendly smile to let us know he arranged for a late, late check out and to call him when we’re packed so he can walk us out and say goodbye.
When I say it’s like coming “home”, Ivan and Angel and quite frankly all the staff are the reason why.

Miss you all already and will see you soon!

Stayed around the end of January/Early February this year. Overall the hotel was beautiful, the staff was kind and the pool/beach beautiful. That is where the pros stop. The service on the beach was terrible, around the pool food/drinks took hours+ to arrive. at one point I asked to order food and waited TWO HOURS for someone to take my order, and after the waiter messed up the order and charged me for two drinks I didn't order, when my wife asked about the charges the waiter yelled at my wife for no reason other than he was having a bad day. This waiter from this point on was rude to myself or anyone from our group for the remainder of our stay at the hotel.

Our room was beautiful, however the unit above us flooded or something because we had a large water leak that took hours to "fix" which left us with a huge hold in our ceiling for days and water on the floor that wasn't cleaned until the following day.

Overall 3 stars because overall the hotel is beautiful and in a great location, but had terrible TERRIBLE waitstaff that ruined what was a beautiful day for my family and put a damper on our trip. Additionally, from a price standpoint there are much better hotels you can stay at in the area that cost much less.

What they don’t tell you up front, and they should, is that you are required to buy THEIR food and drink if you consume anything outside of your room. They they gouge you for every detail. Glass of cheap wine? $13. Two tacos? $19 Bottle of water? $7 and If you pull out your own food or drink the staff tells you that you will be charged $150 when you check out. They might show you menu with lower prices, but when you go to sign for your item there is a 60 peso charge for this and a 40 peso charge for that. For those keeping track that was an extra $5 US for what? Pouring me the glass of wine? Whatever the charge is here for your room, just plan on adding $150 US per day if you as a couple eat/drink very light. I gave this five stars so the review will be at the top and not magically buried like the other lower reviews. Maybe this is how other resorts do things as well but this is my 6th trip to Cabo and the most I’ve paid for table wine anywhere in the world.

Cabo Azul is a BEAUTIFUL property! The staff were extremely kind and helpful. The rooms had full size kitchens which was nice for us to go to the local store to cook food and make drinks in our room. They come stalked with pots, pans, cooking utensils, dish soap, dishwasher soap, rags, silverware, cups, and plates. Our favorite part about the property was the pool. Ismael Garcia was out go-to bartender at the swim up bar. He was always so kind and fun and the service was incredible! They have a calendar of daily events (pool golf, beach volleyball, Ceramics painting, hair braiding etc. on the property). Regarding protocols for COVID-19 - I was very impressed. The staff wear masks, have hand sanitizer throughout the property, disinfectant wipes at each elevator, and you step onto a sanitization mat before you enter the hotel. Overall, I would highly recommend this location and cant wait to come back again!

I'm going to start with a few details that were missing and then explain why this hotel is one of the best in Cabo!

1) The bottled water is $9 and that is more than a galloon of gas
2) They don't provide water to brush your teeth or to use at the coffee machine. This is silly. If water is filtered and doesn't require bottled water, then signage should be placed.
3) They charge a resort fee, but many times, the pool station was out of towels or house keeping did not return after a few hours. (Not sure why housekeeping doesn't use tablets to keep track of their rooms?)
4) The resident restaurant is incredibly overpriced and lacks flavor

NOW let's get to the awesome stuff
1) The décor is unparalleled. They combine old with new architecture and its dreamy! You want to stay forever!
2) They have planks on the sand, so its easier to walk to your cabana
3) They don't upsell cabanas and chairs. It's simply first come, first serve and every guest is treated like an equal
4) There are multiple pool areas to accommodate families with kids or adult only spaces.
5) The location is walkable and doesn't have the "Spring Break" vibe if you want to relax
6) Multiple English speaking TV stations and the staff speaks fluent English
7) The texting system for hotel assistance is lovely and easy to use
8) The location felt incredibly safe

Cabo Azul is a very attractive well-maintained resort in San Jose which is quieter and more attractive than San Lucas. The rooms are very nice and spacious. We really enjoyed the beach (very clean, but can’t swim) and the pool. The gym has most of the equipment you could want. We were not impressed with Javier’s restaurant. Food was ok but not top of the line Mexican (we live in Mexico). The majority of the resort staff were truly pleasant and accommodating.

Now for the problem. Shortly after we arrived my wife’s jeans and belt disappeared from the room. Why someone would take jeans is a mystery but this happened to my sister-in-law in an upscale resort in the DR. Who knew.

The jeans were placed on the bench at foot of the bed after we arrived and then the next day were gone. Of course we notified the front desk to file a report. Our experience in dealing with this problem deteriorated from there. The security supervisor searched our room and downloaded the cards entries from the electronic lock. After that we heard nothing from anyone at the resort. No one apologized for the inconvenience. We had to follow up with the front desk to get any info. When we were departing the security supervisor claimed he left a message on the phone which was untrue. I insisted he come to the room and see that there was not a message on the phone.

Frankly the total lack of concern or ownership of the problem is what upset us versus the value of the jeans. So if you go you probably want to keep a close eye on your clothes as well as your valuables. We would have returned to Cabo Azul but will now skip it.
