What a downhill, spiraling, and frankly depressing stay at the Palmilla. The main issue is that I had a valuable hat stolen by an employee from Breeze restaurant the day we arrived. But if the hotel had handled the issue appropriately, communicated with us, provided at least some kind of compensation for our horrendous stay, I wouldn’t be writing this review. Stealing can happen anywhere, I get it. I work in the hotel industry and have been in the same situation as the staff. But every level of staff we spoke to about the issue was entirely incompetent in handling that type of problem. I left the hat sitting next to me at the table, provided proof to management that I had it next to me with a picture, and they acknowledged that I went to the table with it and left the table without it by checking their cameras. There was no wind this day, we were the only ones at the restaurant since our lunch was at 4pm, and the staff were packing up chair cushions throughout our lunch. As we got up, the staff were immediately bussing that table. No one saw that hat before the staff, and the hat is black so they didn’t pick it up assuming it was dirty linens. I realized the next morning I didn’t have my hat so went and asked the hostess if she has it in a lost and found. She never responded to us. We then spoke to the food and beverage manager who was walking around, who didn’t get back until much later. Since I hadn’t heard from anyone at this point, I went to the front desk. He said he contacted security and would get back to me very soon with information. He never got back to me. So we went back again to the front desk a few hours later, and spoke to the same man. Agent seemed actively annoyed by us asking again, and told us the information is coming soon. So we waited longer...an hour or two.. and finally the food and beverage manager walked by and said “by the way, sorry, we could not find the hat anywhere.” I said along the lines of how we’re hoping to hear back from security and he froze up. Odd. Our butler was never present in any of this, and wasn’t available most of the time during our stay. We went up to the front desk a final time to formally complain about how the situation had been handled. I guess he assumed I don’t speak Spanish because he scoffed and said to his coworker in Spanish a few feet away from me “they came up here like 20 times already.” Nice. Our butler finally arrived. He said they are checking the cameras and will continue to look everywhere. The food and beverage manager happened to unfortunately be walking by and the butler asked him to speak with us again. He said the same thing, and added that I could have a free Palmilla branded hat if I’d like. Hah. He also said an employee couldn’t have stolen it because they go through a metal detector leaving the property, not realizing that a hat wouldn’t alarm a metal detector. We let the issue go for a couple of days and tried to enjoy our vacation. Our butler once spoke to us, in which he nodded in agreement that the hat had very likely been stolen. As far as other aspects of the stay, F&B is the best part. Pool service was abysmal, and we had to call housekeeping for stayover service every single day. No managers walking around and checking in on guests at the lounges or pool- a strong sign that a property has problems since they don’t want to listen to complaints all day. We overheard multiple guests complaining in the lobby, and spoke to people at the bar who said they had been coming for years and felt the experience was lacking and will hesitate to return. Butler on our final day comes to our room around 10 minutes before we were leaving for the airport (we have a personal transportation in Cabo) saying “I don’t see that you booked any airport transportation.” Laughable at that point. We came to the conclusion that the Palmilla is slipping. It’s not what it used to be and certainly overshadowed by other amazing properties in Los Cabos. No one during this time ever came to speak with us again about the hat(about 2 full days), until we HAD to ask to speak to a manager on our final night of the stay. The “on duty manager” came with a security staff to explain that they’ve been not only questioning staff and watching the cameras but “watching our movements as well.” They said they have no proof that the hat was stolen, so they are not liable. We asked him for some kind of compensation for the number of complaints during our stay. The manager was combative, and not fit for hospitality of this level of service as he escalated the situation and raised his voice. I’m sure they regret the conversation. Security implied that I stole my own hat and had it in my belongings. We were appalled. He says he has the camera footage of me entering with the hat and leaving without. I don’t have a bag, and it obviously can’t fit in my pocket. How dare he accuse a guest of scamming given the evidence showing otherwise. He said he will speak with the GM and get back to us later in the evening. Of course, later that evening, he was pleased to tell us that the GM declined to provide any compensation. I truly believe that the on duty manager didn’t give accurate information/let his emotions get in the way of telling the truth because there is no possible/logical way that a GM of a One&Only property would decline ANY sort of compensation given what we know. Supposedly this is all because they don’t have “proof,” but there’s something simply off about it all. By that logic, I don’t have proof that you don’t have proof! For all we know, the hotel could have footage of the stealing and terminated that employee but are not telling us. For the record, they declined to show us camera footage. I will be surprised if the Palmilla responds to this. They made it clear that they don’t care about our years of loyalty, and neither do they care about yours. I will be getting in touch with Kerzner, and corporate will be disgusted that their fantastic reputation was tarnished by something so easily resolved by all 5* resorts. It’s not hard to do the right thing. Montage/Las Ventanas are only a short ways away, and Costa Palmas (FS/Aman) is growing quickly. Enjoy Los Cabos.

They have definitely let service go here. Montage, Four Seasons, you name it and they probably provide better service than this hotel. The nature and surroundings, however, make up for it. It's truly an incredible setting. Go for a sunset cocktail but do not stay here.

Easily one of favorite trips worldwide. Setting is amazing. Service off the charts. Our room was a Casita Jr. Suite with pool. Furnishings were a beautiful & elegant Old World Mexico. Location and view from he deck were stunning. Coffee and whale watching from your own private pool is about the best way you could start a day!

First let me say from the time we got off our flight until 5 days later when we were ushered back on our flight with grace nothing but excellence from the staff at O&O. My self and my wife visited One&Only for my birthday and where actually the first visitor post COVID shutdown. The grounds our beautiful the staff is warm and polite and the food ohhh the food excellent . This is what 5 diamond and 5 stars our made of. We missed out on the other restaurants on the grounds because of COVID return that were opening 2 weeks later but I was highly pleased with the house restaurant. I would label definitely 5 star. We stayed in junior infinity pool suite. Which was beautiful. A nice luxury but authentic Mexican feeling suite. So many different great things about this place from grounds to food to places to relax and quiet. One & Only met every need and we will definitely be returning sooner than later. Cigars something to wear snacks .. they have you covered. One of our new favorite places. So glad we picked this place for our first visit to Cabo . If your thinking about going .. Go ! :) Thanks One&Only The Hills
