Nestled near the marina and shopping hubs, Sandos Finisterra garners praise for its enchanting locale, despite swimming restrictions. Guests commend the friendly staff and the hotel's serene atmosphere, complete with soothing ocean sounds and vibrant evening entertainment. However, experiences with value and service are mixed, with some citing overpriced amenities and slow poolside service. The rooms, noted for their spaciousness and views, are also flagged for being dated. Cleanliness is a strong point, with well-kept surroundings, though minor issues are mentioned.

This resort spreads over the cliffside with stunning views of the Marina on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other. I had an amzing room hanging off the rock face where I could watch beautiful sunrises and whales frolicking in the water. The room is well appointed with a large balcony, oversized shower, large closet with a safe and bottled water, a small refrigerator with beer, soda & juices and a Nespresso coffee machine.
The food is amazing. Up on top of the cliff you can find a great variety at the Don Diego buffet with incredible marina views; our waiter Efron ensured we were well looked after while enjoying mouth watering Italian at Emiliano & Nelson expertly served up delicious cupcakes, donuts & specialty coffee at the Cupcake Cafe.
At the beach was the Agave had different buffet everyday in addition to their menu items & at night had the best steaks! Tortuga had the most amazing beachside views with non stop transiting whales! The Eggs Benedict were the best I've ever tried and Joel was a terrific server and a delight to talk to each day. The poolside oven fired pizza was also amazing.
The entertainment may not have been the best I've ever seen but Wendy & the team tried hard to involve everyone poolside and the nighttime shows at the plaza had a great variety. Luis made the most incredible chocolate martinis with his secret ingredient!
There are three pools with varying water temperatures & hot tubs. The middle pool is adults only & had a swim up bar attached to the Agave restaurant.
We had an awesome concierge Miguel who quickly actioned our every request while Alberto made our special requests in the rstaurants come true...an amzing show making Mexican coffee!
The fitness centre is very small for a resort this size with only 3 treadmills, ellipticals & little room for floor work. The Spa is truly unique as it is built into the cliff as well. There is a huge jacuzzi, a cold dip pool, sauna, steam room and great services available. Carmen & Elizabeth gave me some amazing massages while there & Diego ensured I was well looked after in the nail & hair department with Geronimo keeping everything in line at the front desk.
You can do a lot of walking at this beautiful resort but that will help when eating all this delicios food. Great location, amazing views & attentive service all make this a top rated destination in Cabo.

I'll try and keep this as short and sweet as possible. I believe Sandos is working hard to bring this resort to the next level. It's a 50 year old place (told it's the first resort built in San Lucas) that Sandos has owned for 10 years and from reviews I read about it a few years back I would say they have made big steps to improve already.

The location is fantastic, you can walk to the Marina across the street, or downtown shops and restaurants in 15 mins.

As everyone mentions they do pull you aside when you check-in to ask you for a 90min timeshare which honestly was not a bad deal. You get a nice breakfast and some awesome discounts for your time so I wouldn't book any excursions ahead of time. Just stick to your guns and they aren't pushy.

As far as food and drink I would say Don Diego which is the buffet has the best food. The others that you have to pay extra for were serving food cold and tasteless. If you're looking for a nice margarita on The beach better ask for a triple or you only get sweet and sour...

We had the Jr. Suit room with an ocean view and honestly when they give you a tour of the "elite" suites you could own, the room is very nice but the view is worse to me then the room we had! We had nothing but beautiful beach and ocean to look at along with the whales constantly popping up. Bathrooms were so so on the cleanliness but nothing worth complaining about.

Over all this place gives you an option, do you want to party with strangers every night and join a dance contest in the center adult only pool or are you trying to get away from everyone and just enjoy each other? We wanted to do the latter and it was accomplished.

This hotel is absolutely amazing and couldn't be better situated having its own beach but in walking distance to the marina with shops and restaurants.

We are from the UK and had a fantastic holiday deep sea fishing, whale watching from the beach and out to sea, taking ourselves out to San Jose and Todos Santos on local buses (although tours are available), relaxing on the beach and generally strolling the locality to soak up the wonderful atmosphere.

The staff were second to none. From the minute we arrived we were welcomed warmly and everywhere we walked we had a smile and friendly 'hola' from each and every staff member. It's hard to pick out any member of staff as being better than another but we would particularly like to mention Puga who had an infectious smile and was so welcoming at breakfast. She always gave us a table on the outside balcony overlooking the marina. Carlos, the Whale Watching bartender, gave exceptional service and mixed the best Margarita in town, Abel and Nelson in the Cup Cake cafe were always very welcoming and served excellent coffee and cakes throughout the day, and Jose MTY was prepared to walk right the way down to almost the sea to bring us drinks whilst we sat on our very comfortable sun loungers. Nikki, the General Manager, should be especially praised for running such a happy and efficient team. She was ALWAYS visible and accessible throughout our holiday.

It was great to have four different restaurants so that you never got bored being on an all inclusive package and we were always happy with the food and choices.

We preferred to do our own thing but the entertainment team during the day looked like they were fun and certainly the evening entertainment was of excellent quality. Michael Jackson could have been the real one and his dancing was even better! A weekly beach buffet was organised also with exceptional entertainment.

Our room was situated above the Cup Cake Cafe and was very convenient for the breakfast restaurant, the Whale Watching Bar, the Italian restaurant and the evening entertainment. The room itself had an amazing view over the marina, was large with a HUGE bed. Our maid Maricarmen did an exceptional job. Unlike some hotel rooms EVERYTHING was cleaned not a spot of dust/sand was left anywhere. We also came back one day to find we had accidentally left our safe open with our large amount of money and jewellery all vulnerable. She had obviously called security to lock and there was an efficient notice asking us to call reception. Couldn't have been more impressed with the handling of our mistake.

There are so many places to visit but this is likely to be one of our favourites and one that we visit again.

Once again a most wonderful visit to Sandos Finisterra! All of the employees are so wonderful! You couldn’t ask for better service. So nice to meet genuinely sweet people, it makes it even more relaxing and enjoyable!

The grounds are immaculate and the landscaping is gorgeous too. They work so hard to keep things clean and neat - we saw many workers cleaning and decorating at all times.

Special shoutout to Fernando 911, Jose, and Carlos, working their butts off to deliver food and drink with big smiles and great conversation. Victor rocks serving up drinks in the pool bar too! Juan at Don Diego is super friendly and made all of us feel so welcome!

Jose made a point to give us a heads up that whales were near the beach. So cool to see them so close and 2 breached almost completely out of the water.

The hostess, Puga at the Agave restaurant remembered our name which is not very common nor easy to say. She couldn’t have been any friendlier.

Our favorite vacation spot for so many reasons! We highly recommend!

Our family really loves vacationing here. All the staff from start to finish are wonderful and very helpful. It all starts with Teresa in Member Services who welcomes us and ensures that we will have the best rooms available. She’s a gem in this resort. Our butler Miguel went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we wanted and checked on us daily to see if we needed anything. Francisco in the lobby bar is super friendly and makes the best drinks. The Cupcake Cafe is our favorite way to start the morning with coffee and treats. Abel always remembers us and makes our coffee just right. Poolside cabanas are wonderful. Carlos and Fernando loved on our kids like they were family making sure they had food and drinks each and every day. Carlos never let my ice melt, always made sure my husband and I had fresh cold drinks. Wendy and Paola are so fun entertaining everyone daily with pool games etc.. The biggest compliment to this place is how every employee we chatted with mentioned how much they appreciate their big boss, the general manager Nikki. That speaks loudly about how a resort is ran when the workers are so happy. We will be back in May and every year after. This is a wonderful place to become a member.

Wow! Simply Wow! This was our first trip to Cabo and our first stay at Sandos Finesterra. Our room was great, with amazing views. We stayed in a Royal Elite Junior Suite that was built high into the cliffs where we could not only see the Pacific Ocean, but also whales! Each morning we sat on our personal balcony and watched for whales, never disappointed. The resort is immaculate, has good restaurant choices with excellent food (especially the Tortuga Beach Club, which is for Sandos members only, and even has a vegan lunch and dinner menu), and is very conveniently located in easy walking distance to downtown and to the marina. The thing that set this resort apart was the service. My wife and I are very down to earth people more likely to serve/help others so as Sandos VIP members, to receive a personal Butler for our stay was something we just aren't used to. Our Butler, Miguel Paredez, was simply amazing. He couldn't do enough for us, from the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out. He kept telling us that it made his heart happy to help. One of the things we enjoyed the most as members was having a poolside cabana reserved for the whole week. Miguel did that for us. Literally, I could write a whole review on the things he did to make our stay a step above anything else we have experienced. That said, all the leadership and staff, were wonderful, starting with the resort General Manager, Nicki. She set the tone for the resort where all the staff said she makes them feel like a family. Like Nicki, we saw Sergio, the Resident Manager, all over the resort. The first time we met him we didn't know who he was, but he saw we were trying to figure something out on our phones and asked if he could help. He ended up setting up the wifi for us on our phones. All of the staff were part of the memories created at Sandos including: Itzel, the Head Concierge, Nelson and Abel baristas in the Cupcake Cafe, Luis the bartender at the 7th floor bar, Diego, the assistant manager of the spa, Jorge the bellman (who has been at this resort for 40 years), Brisa the hostess at the Don Diego buffet, Joel and Jaime, the servers at the Tortuga Beach Club, Naemi, the chef at the Tortuga Beach Club, Iris, our housekeeper for room 2205, Carlos, the bartender at the Whale Watchers Bar, Jorge, server at the Don Diego buffet, Marco at the front desk, and Wendy and Gloria, activity leaders. There were two staff that we interacted the most with, Miguel, our personal Butler, and Carlos, the VIP member drink server at the pool. It is so apparent that he loves what he does, he is so personable, and was so happy to bring us multiple drinks each day. Our experience at Sandos Finesterra was a 5+! We would definitely return.

Beautiful and clean hotel but definitely not worth the price if you consider upgrading to VIP. Its in a great location minutes from the Marina and a short walk to swimable beaches but we felt ourselves leaving the hotel mostly as swimming in a freezing pool wasn't appealing. We are Canadian so trust me when I say they are cold pools! The food options were ok but each restaurant had a very limited menu, the food was very good from the limited menu they had though. We were Royal Elite and that was the worst service. I do not recommend doing this, you get nothing for this upgrade and have to search and chase down a concierge who won't do anything on the phone because they want their tip. The VIP private pool is very small, far from the beach and there is no hot tub. The other pools are freezing and the hot tubs aren't hot - some were warm though. The beach here is NOT swimmable so having the pools set so far back with limited/no view of the ocean was disappointing. I also want to add that although we received poor service from Royal Elite staff all other serving staff were amazing. The cleaners cleaned our room ok but did not change our sheets in 10 days (monitored a spill we made on our top sheet) which I found odd and we suspect they definitely riffled through our stuff and jammed a locked bag up (can't prove it tho)! I don't like to leave a bad review but for what we paid for this hotel I do not recommend it unless you get a great deal. There are way better options in CABO! If they try to sell you on being dog friendly they aren't, we witnessed them kicking a guy out of his Royal Elite section with his service dog who you didn't even know was there.

Hi kimberlycZ5287WK, Thank you for leaving your opinion on the tripadvisor pages and for the recommendations towards other travellers. I would like to clarify that a service dog is a dog that has been trained to assist a person who has a disability. Emotional support dogs are not considered service dogs under the ADA. They may be trained for a specific owner, but they are not trained for specific tasks or duties to aid a person with a disability, and this is the main difference between ESAs and service dogs. That is the reason why we do not allow emotional support dogs in the restaurants, bars and pool areas only in the rooms if guests bring us the medical documentation supporting this need. The housekeeping staff is very careful and detailed in their cleaning process. We are sorry to hear that you think we did not change the sheets in ten days, what is totally unacceptable. Regarding the pools, we have three heated pools and one "cold" or natural temperature as you state. All our guests have at least two options to swim in warm water in the only adult pool close to agave and in the first pool next to the lobby areas. Royal Elite and VIP members have even a third option on the seventh floor with another heated pool. We are extremely sorry to read that we may not have been the hotel you were looking for. Best regards, Nicki Van den Auwelant GM Sandos Finisterra

We just returned from an 11 day stay at Sandos. This is the second time we have stayed here and the first time to return to a resort that we had previously visited. The resort took many measures to ensure our safety. We observed staff and maintenance continuously cleaning areas of high traffic and areas where guests were in.

We stayed in a Deluxe Bay View room overlooking the marina and Sea of Cortez. It is relaxing to watch the dolphins play and the sunrise. The room is in the older part of the resort and not spacious, but it is clean and in a great location to everything at the resort, especially the Cupcake Cafe, Don Diego, Stones Night Club and the Plaza entertainment. The location of the resort makes it easy to walk to the marina to catch a water taxi or venture into town.

There were several staff members that made our stay "excelente". Breakfast at Don Diego was always made better by Jorge Garcia, Arturo and Cindy. Lunch at the Agave was entertaining with Norman and was always delicious. Norma took care of our drinks/food by the pool and delivered our drinks before we even ordered. Abel at the Cupcake Factory had a smile and provided sweets for my sweet tooth.

I can't say enough about the food and service provided by the staff at Agave. We thought the food was very good and enjoyed all of the staff. Julian, Yuliana, Armando, Norman, Gustav, Kevin and others made sure our meals were enjoyable and went out of the way to ensure the birthday celebration lasted the entire week.

The entertainment/water exercises by the pool led by Wendy, Jesus, and DJ Mike brought much laughter and new acquaintances.

Nikki is a great director and works with her team to make every guest feel special. I really can't express our sincere gratitude in words for how special they made our trip.

We would definitely return again to this resort. The sense of family, camaraderie, good food and atmosphere make this resort five stars.

Thank you for making our vacation memorable and very relaxing.

Dan

We thank you so much for your feedback and for recommending us to future travellers. As you say correctly, we may not be the newest resort in the area but working and living as a small Sandos family, providing a good work atmosphere, serving good food and creating friendship between guests and team members certainly makes us different from other places. We love what we do and we work with passion every day! We hope to see you back soon in your new home in BCS Mexico! Nicki Van den Auwelant GM Sandos Finisterra

Many have posted here on TA about the friendly staff. Agree 100%. From Nicolas (Bellman), to Victoria (Front Desk) to the housekeepers (we had 3 different ones) and the great wait staff/bartenders, Norma, Joshua, Carlos, Carlos, Juan, Ishmael, Christoper, and even the towel guy, all friendly. Miguel, you took good care us.
Beach Dinner, where General Manager Nikki introduces her managers staff (about a dozen in all) and they get excited to see US and then start the entertainment for the night. We had a Fire-Dancers show and the White Nite Party.
Each day you would see Humpback whales from your perch at the pool, and every afternoon at 4 the Whale Watchers Bar opens at 4. From that point you can see distant activity a little better, but grab a pair of the bar binoculars.
Our room was 1123 just down the hall from the lobby. Very spacious! Sometimes in the early morning I could hear trucks or busses coming and going but if it was bad (it was not) I would have used my ear stopples (plugs).
The entire resort is very clean. I saw the windows washed daily and even the pool deck walls were scrubbed. The restrooms were always being refreshed or cleaned.
We did purchase the Whale Watching Tour of the larger vessel, which cost about $90 per person and included open bar and a Mexican Buffet lunch. 5 minutes from the lobby.
The Foam/Bubble party in the pool was fun. Poolside activities were the "usual" (trivia, bingo, "name that song-title" and usually Sexy, Sexy Wendy was the host.

We had the pleasure of staying at Sandos for 4 nights and it wasn’t enough time! We didn’t want to leave.... First, the resort is beautiful, clean and well maintained. It is clear that they want to remain open and sanitizer is very accessible. They have also required masks (they are provided) when near the buffet selection. You cannot serve yourself and items such as fruit and yogurt are available in individual jars which is nice. There are a plethora of pools, bars and restaurants to choose from on site which helps with social distancing! We enjoyed the breakfast selections, as well as, the dinner options. The best part were the caffe lattes and desserts in the bakery!

On to the hotel and rooms; When we checked in we were welcomed by a great team of people (Irwing and Pedro ) to help us get situated. They also offered champagne, which is a very nice touch. They have so many resources in the lobby for excursions, dinner recommendation, gift shop etc. Please expect to work off all of the good food they offer because the resort is huge. We stayed in the newer part (not in the main building) but in the most gorgeous suite. It has spoiled me and now I don’t know if I can stay in any other room! Once we got to our room, someone brought us the most delicious strawberry cake balls and nice bottle of wine. Exceptional service!

Lastly we had the great pleasure of meeting with our wedding coordinator (yes we loved Sandos via google before even visiting) to discuss getting married and that experience was also exceptional! Lupita was so kind and accommodating and set up a beautiful tasting for us and went over all of our options. We are so excited to get married at Sandos Finisterra!

While I couldn’t find many, the only con was that there was only one elevator in operation so if stairs aren’t your thing, then let’s hope they fix them soon! For us it wasn’t a problem for we take stairs all the time and welcome exercise to burn off the alcohol and tortilla chips :)

Lastly, the resort is super close to the downtown area, we walked down the marina and easily hopped on our sunset cruise excursion. Note that you cannot swim in the ocean outside of the resort! You can lay by the ocean or walk along the beach but swimming is prohibited since the waters are very rough. There are public beaches but we didn’t bother since the pools are so nice at Sandos.

All in all, I highly recommend Sandos and look forward to bringing my guests there later this year.

Different areas of this resort. We stayed in a garden view room and it was nice. Marina view is the backside of the resort. Think of a hill area. One side has a marine view the other a garden or distant water view.
