Sunset resort is in a beautiful location and has exemplary service. Well maintained buildings and grounds are one of the first things you notice. It can be said that the service may out do the facilities. Everyone is friendly and always greeted with a smile. Many restaurants on the grounds serve really great food. Even though it is very steep throughout the complex, there are carts to take you where ever you need to go. You almost never have to wait more than a minute for a cart. The main drawback of a visit there is the persistent attempt to sell you a "time share" or if you are an "owner" to upgrade to a higher level. Every single day for 2 weeks we were approached to attend a sales pitch. Mostly this happened at restaurants, but also at the pools, lobbies, and cart stations. Evidently they keep track of you by room number and know when or if you have attended a sales pitch. In talking to some of the vacationers that attended the sales pitch, the 75 minute pitch is more like 3 hours.

Our stay here was beyond our expectations. We loved every second of it. It is beautiful, well organized, so many different things to do, and everyone is very kind. Alfredo Olguin Tijerina was our elite Butler and definitely made us feel like true VIPs. He was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. It was my lady’s birthday and he definitely helped make it a special for her. Non stop surprises throughout the day we were in absolute awe. It’s our last day here here at the resort and I cannot wait to come back already! Thank you Sunset Beach and thank you Alfredo for making this experience memorable!

This is our 2nd visit using the PB hotels....and the 2nd isn't as good as the 1st. We went to the Pacifica and now we're at the Sunset beach. Pros: Nice clean beach. However it's coned off due to the very big waves and can't even get close to the water. Pools, plenty. Clean. Large resort. Cons: as the last rater has mentioned I'll vouch on most that was stated. Food is mediocre. The main restaurant is now 2 days that is closed d/t staffing issues as everyone is on holiday. Food takes FOREVER, regardless which place you go. At best 45min was the least amount of time we've waited. We are in Mexico, worst guacamole ever. the Other PB we been to I dont recall it being so bad. we have a toddler so there was no way to bring the stroller anywhere. So carrying her everywhere was burdensome. You had to take the golf cart whereever you needed to go. Room service food has been subpar every morning for bfast. At this point with all the restaurant opening a bit late for my liking trying to feed my baby room service is what it had to be aside from waiting for the golf care and all the logistical stuff that went with it. The Penthouse, for being a "Penthouse" was again mediocre. For the size and amount of money spent it should have superb amenities with all the bells and whistles. It did not. I've never been to any hotel, not even penthouse equivalent, and all have shampoo/conditioner/body wash and other bathroom items such as comb, shower cap etc. Didn't have it. Kitchen: the dishwasher when trying to open completely falls forward and couldnt be used. Coffee machine...you had to go and buy your own coffee, which wasn't cheap at their market either. at least the 1st bag should be complimentary and then after that you're on your own. Hot water on all bathroom faucets spewed water every time you used it. Jacuzzi tub in master didn't drain properly. There is just so so so many maintenance things that needs attention. Which i dont understand when all properties you have a yearly fee to go by. Housekeeping was ok. Biggest part that drove me nuts is we'd leave food on the counter on things we've ordered for us to snack on later in the day and come back to the room and them removing it. After 2 times of doing this I had to leave a huge note DO NOT REMOVE food. The biggest, and I mean biggest, downfall is the staff getting you into the timeshare meetings. My husband is very educated and knows all about this market so for him he enjoys talking to them. For me sucha waste of time. I just hate how pushy and aggressive they are. For me this is the worst part of the PB franchise.

Loved the hotel, location was secluded and very private. Very clean. Food was amazing. Room was great but this “Butler” thing is BS. If you need service you dial “O”. They will bring what you need. When you title a Butler it means someone that will be there and get you stuff and do stuff. This Butler aside from sending a daily morning good morning didn’t do anything special. Pool is great ocean is very dangerous in this area Overall great experience. Would recommend and be back!!!!
