We arrived in Maleny on a wet and dreary afternoon but from the moment we stepped into the 'Love Cottage ' we knew we'd found our 'bliss'. Our hosts Julie and Steve have done an amazing job, bringing all the elements together to create the most relaxing and romantic atmosphere. So many thoughtful touches everywhere. Immaculately clean and modern yet still homely. Not even the miserable weather could take away from our enjoyment. And Julie's freshly baked bread (delivered on our arrival still warm from the oven) is possibly the best home made bread we've ever had. And it makes the best toast ever - especially with pate and vintage cheese with champagne!! With the weather not great we spent every afternoon in the divine spa bath watching the clouds and mist roll in and out of the spectacular Mary Valley through the enormous picture window. We almost didn't want the weather to clear as the spa bath seemed like the best seat in the house to view the spectacular scenery and relax to the max!! Though the dining area and deck also provide a great view of the valley. The neat little kitchen was perfect for us to prepare a couple of home cooked meals and when we could drag ourselves away, the local Thai restaurant recommended by Julie was excellent, as was Shotgun Cafe. Our best discovery in years and we've already booked a return visit for next year.

My husband and I stayed in the “love cottage “ 12 years ago and absolutely loved it then !
But for our first wedding anniversary I wanted to go somewhere special (crazy thing is we only live 30mins away ) and couldn’t think of anywhere more special then “Malany luxury cottages” so I called Julie to book into the love cottage again
She told me they had renovated so she hoped we still loved the place!
Well WOW WOW WOW !!!!
This place is Devine !

Mike and I had the most amazing weekend just relaxing and enjoying each other’s company in a peaceful and tranquil beautiful part of our coast .

The bedroom has the most comfortable king size bed and a couples spa that over looks the serene surrounds .
The cabins are so private with their own entires so you don’t hear anyone else .
With Airconditioning you can have the place just right and even snuggle up to a pot belly fire. We took our favourite dvds and a good book .

So here are my Tips for your trip !
Julie and Terry supply a lovely basket of goodies for breakfast including fresh cooked bread.
But stop at the local IGA and grab some supplies because the cabin sports a fully equipped kitchen including a bbq ! So you don’t even have to leave once you arrive, it has a full size fridge and dishwasher so you are set for the stay !

If you do want to venture out we had dinner at “the terrace in Malany “ seafood restaurant and Le coq Bresnan at Flaxton. Both places we can highly recommend

You can explore the local area and casually walk through Malany, Montville and Mapleton.

We will definitely be back again snd couldn’t of went to at better place to celebrate our first anniversary

Hi, without going over the top, thought I would provide a few comments.
Yes I have stayed here a few times, so know the properties quite well. Seclusion and Privacy second to none, quality and attention to presentation of the cabins outstanding, views especially Calm can take you in to just looking, the other two cabins views are great also. The other side of Melany, so hence the privacy. What else can I say, oh yes, the hosts are so Knowledgeable about the area, they should also be the tourism office. A warm friendly meeting goes a long way, from booking, to arriving, all tick the friendly easy to do button.
Love what you have done to Calm, the upgrade is quality all around.
Only weeks to go 😊until our next stay.
Thankyou Terry and Julie, always enjoy your hospitality .

Sadly we found this place disappointing. We've stayed in similar places that were cheaper but more modern and with better service. The first night's stay was quite pleasant, but things took a turn when we woke up the next morning...

At the time of writing this review, you can still go onto the Maleny Luxury Cottages website and find that the list of inclusions on the "Dream Cottage" page clearly indicates that a breakfast basket is included with the room. We were really looking forward to relaxing that day and not having to leave the room. But by 8:45am, the breakfast baskset had not arrived, so I sent a message to the owners. They responded to say that our booking did not include breakfast. Apparently this is because we didn't book directly with them and used a third party accommodation site that charges them a fee. Check out the room rates and I'm sure you will agree that when you're paying this much for a room, (even with a 10% fee taken out), and when the website indicates that breakfast is included, it's reasonable to expect breakfast! The Dream Cottage page on the website does not say anything about the breakfast only applying to certain booking types. It is false advertising, very misleading and frankly disappointing. I pointed this out to the owners and they said "sorry you thought that", like it was my fault for their poor communication.

I offered the owners the opportunity to rectify the issue, but they refused to budge. It reveals the true character of the owners. A good accommodation provider would have just admitted that the website is misleading and then honoured the advertised inclusions list. It's not difficult or expensive to provide a couple of slices of bread and some eggs, but that really would have made all the difference to our experience, our mood, and our opinions of the place.

We tried to not let this ruin our stay, but it really did. When you come somewhere like this, paying as much as we did, and when you're supposed to be having a relaxing time, the last thing you want to do is have a battle with the owners.

If the owners intention is to provide the most comfortable, stress-free and relaxing experience for guests, unfortunately they have not succeeded this time and they don't even seem to care. I wonder why they even bother owning this place. It seems they are only interested in the money and not genuine hospitality or the satisfaction of their guests. We were discriminated against because of the site on which we chose to make the booking. If they don't like being charged fees for listing on third party accommodation sites, they should remove their listings from those sites.

Response from Terry Shields, General Manager at Maleny Luxury Cottages

Yes we discriminate IF you book direct you get the cheapest deal on the internet & free breakfast, quite simply the commissions are so high we only supply them with direct bookings Hi Dale_123427, I'm sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us, but when you booked with Agoda, it would have clearly said" No breakfast provisions included in this stay"on their website and on the paperwork you received. The furniture is shown clearly in the photo's on Agoda and are not photo shopped, so you would have known what you was getting. The price was set with no hidden charges. If you book through our website you get OUR conditions a cheaper price & FREE breakfast provisions. If you book on a third party website you are under Their conditions including their huge commissions . Agoda Commission by memory is close to 20% & we cannot take no money until checkout I will Disable the Agoda website based on your Feelings. Some 3rd party sites can have over a 50% commission . A Simple analogy of this is if you buy a tin of Heinz baked beans from Woolworths for $1 & go to coles & pay $2 ,you have over payed ,ask coles for $1 as woolworths is cheaper they will say no you chose to pay the $1 extra. I cannot take the blame for something you did not research before booking. I know you sent me a snap shot of my website, stating breakfast provisions, but that's OUR WEBSITE I love how you are stating that we don't care and we are in it for the money, unfortunately we do have to eat & pay a mortgage or do you just go to work as you love it. We do care and have spent the past 14 years, upgrading & pouring all profit back into the business and making the cottages & surrounding Gardens/landscaping the best we can & it just keeps getting better. (Dream is our cheapest cottage to rent) Perhaps next time you book somewhere, check your paperwork to see all the inclusions, before complaining on Tripadvisor that your stay was ruined because there was no breakfast, but obviously this was lost through your frustrations. If breakfast is going to be a make or brake for your holiday i would suggest you take one with you wherever you stay ! FYI When we provide breakfast provisions for our guests we don't just give a few slices of bread we take 4hrs individually baking a loaf of bread so i cannot make one appear on demand. Please be my guest next time you visit Maleny & stay somewhere else !!! FYI most 3rd party websites take their commissions wash them t & send their money tax free overseas ,so if you use a 3rd party website you are overpaying & making Australia as a country Poorer consider that next time you book any Holiday.

Very happy with our stay for some much needed screen- free downtime. warm welcome from owner Terry who gave a run down of how everything worked and recommendations for things to see and do locally. We were lucky to score a rainy day which meant we didn't leave the premises!! The cottages are well appointed, thoughtfully designed, well maintained and very clean. The windows in particular were spotlessly clean, affording great views across the valley from the spa. Breakfast provisions were generous, firewood was plentiful, bathroom well designed , and bed very comfortable. Good value for money for the price we paid. Book direct with the property for the best deal.

Once again hands down amazing beautiful just stunning perfect… from the moment u arrive at ur cabin… Terry and his wife are so lovely they will meet u or just leave instructions for ur cabin entry..: if u book private u get a better experience because u get bread baked hamper and lots of other little things for ur stay.
We stayed in the dream cabin: last time we stayed in the brand new calm cottage which is just been renovated and it’s beautiful with a massive circular bath tub on the balcony but this weekend we stayed in dream cabin.. yes it had a bath tub on the veranda it also has one inside next to the bed haha. It’s awesome we used both. We even turned the tv on an angle to watch our downloaded movies and tv series while having a spa bath. It’s beautiful. We cooked dinner most nights on the stove or microwave but the Maleny pub is the best..: not far of a drive… this place is beautiful and even better in the winter time when u crank the fireplace but we didn’t need it this weekend we did put the heater on but that’s all.

As a newly married couple myself and my bride stayed in the love cottage for our honeymoon. It was amazing! The view from the spa was stunning. Comfort, relaxation, love, peace and serenity are just some of the things you'll experience in this love cottage. Also, the cleanliness of the cottage is second to none. The owners are to be commended. Just wow, to the entire experience.

We spent our 15 year wedding anniversary weekend at Love Cottage. Just WOW! We have never stayed anywhere like it. The Love Cottage is indeed perfect in every way. Gorgeous views, seclusion, spa to die for, comfortable bed, delicious home baked bread and brekky basket, and still close to town. The perfect place to wind down, relax and enjoy. Julie and Terry, we truly appreciate the loving attention to detail that you have obviously put into this place. We can’t thank you enough. ❤️🌹
