This roadside (E6) inn, half-way between Fauske and Narvik, is well worth a stop. We tried the buffet. It wasn`t up to standard for a 4-star stop, but we may have been a bit late in the day. The rooms are good and we had a view of the dark and spooky fjord below. A waterfall added to the scenery. The part of the stay that makes one stop to reflect on what went on below (underneath) this place 70 years ago, is the railway tunnel. It was part of Nazi Germanys` project to create an Arctic railway. They mainly used Russian prisoners-of-war as slave labour. From the Kobbelv Vertshus down to the old tunnel-site you find a lot of good documentation that tells the story of this death railway project. It is a pity that so many travellers merely drive past, or stay for a meal without spending a little time to see, reflect and shudder at the sight of the evil below.…
Room nice and clean, but no dinner. Only warmed food by microwave from the supper buffet. We have phoned our coming later, but the Thai Girl, did not know anything. The Internet did not work. breakfast was so la la. Not worth.
Stopped simply for a place to sleep on our way south from northern Norway. The location is beautiful, the staff friendly, the breakfast and coffee good - but the quite worn down (although clean) rooms did not live up to the steep price.
Driving through Norway we found kobbelv a very convenient nightstop before an early morning ferry departure from Drag. However, despite a friendly and service-minded staff, we found the rooms stuffy, smelly and hot. it was the warmest day of the year, yet no windows had been opened so a bit of air could get in. Situated in the land of the midnight sun, you would think the curtains should be able to keep the light out, but they were thin, dirty and flimsy. The room itself was large and airy in a modern design. All the amenities like WiFi, TV and so on was up and running, plenty of hot water in the shower, but due to the fancy design, only one of three windows could be opened, and even that one only a tiny bit. This led to a night with stufffy and warm air in a light room. Adding to the rather lousy experience was an uncomfortable bed. Café food was below average, but in all fairnes we came just before they closed, and service was good. The whole place needs refurbishing and a good makeover. In short: Convenient stopover, but not really worth the price.…
If you're on your way across Norway, this is an excellent place for a stop-over. The rroms facing the fjord have a stunning view, and the waterfall rushing just behind covers the noise from the passing traffic. The hotel's restaurant is simple but has an extensive offering. There's even a little shop upstairs, where you can purchase local and hand-made products.
