Marinaterra Hotel & Spa is located in the heart of San Carlos, adjacent to Mexico’s largest natural marina and in front of TETAKAWI hill. Both the marina and Tetakawi hill gives us majestic views and stunning sunsets. We are 15 minutes from Guaymas Airport and a short 20-minute drive from Guaymas. Probably the nicest hotel in the area. Beautiful marina, nice restaurant, friendly, helpful staff. ... but terribly uncomfortable beds with plastic mattress protectors hastily covering a dirty, stained mattress. My room had a ghastly smell of feeces coming from the shower. Although they cleaned it, the smell returned when the toilet was flushed or the shower was turned on in the room or in the room directly upstairs.

The administration for this hotel does not exist… I called the front desk 5 times to report noise (someone was moving furniture every 5 to 10 minutes on another room) I was on a suite… they told me many times that they will send security until they gave me the security direct number for me to talk to him…. I spoke with them 3 more time and they were never able to talk to the other customer… they said they never found anyone…. This happened for over 3 hours… and I recorded it to prove) from 11:00PM+ until 2:45AM or so… totality incompetence… Also when we arrived to the suite the faucet was leaking and created a mess … that was fixed with in an hour…. The remote control from one of the TVs never worked… When I checked out, the guy was not friendly (neither rude) and I was never asked how was my staying… it was only one night … definitely Service is not their strength… I will not comeback to it…. There other hotels close shop around and try to avoid this one is you can… Have a nice vacation….

We decided to make the reservation through their website so that we wouldn’t have any issues. Well apparently they didn’t have our reservation and they wanted to charge us more again even though they have charged us apparently. Then I had to go to their offices to try to sort the issue out. After that we decided to go to the beach. Well there is none even though they advertise one. That is the actual reason why we came here and there is no beach club cause apparently it is under a “remodel” but it was nowhere to be found! Unfortunately San Carlos is beautiful but thanks to all this shady ness we won’t be back to this hotel!

I booked this hotel as there had been good ratings, but I’m not so sure. The rate was good. The front desk staff were not very friendly. The lobby smells of a fragrant cleanser or something. Gave us a room on the street side and it was pretty noisey until the bar closed across the street. The room was okay. The beds were lumpy and squeaky. Overall I would say it was okay. I probably will stay elsewhere the next time.

We spent two nights here and enjoyed our stay. The view of the marina from our balcony was nice. We only had a balcony with standing room - no seating but it was still nice to have. It was nice to have a safe and hair dryer in the room. It was our first experience of putting our room key in a box by door to turn on electricity to room. It was great to see electricity being conserved. They had a nice restaurant and the breakfast offering selections was large and included a station for omelets and eggs anyway you wish. Many traditional Mexican dishes along with American. The pool desk was large with hot tub, children’s play area and a bar. The staff was great to work with. If ever in San Carlos stay here.
