Hotel is great. It sits on top of a hill with excellent views. Staff is wonderful. We stayed here for 5 nights for our son's wedding. Our family had rooms #1, 3,4,7, and 8. All the rooms are so pretty. Room 3 does have some road noise due to road behind but traffic dies down and the room is a very good size with a huge bathroom. Room #1 has a large private balcony the bedrooms are a little tight if you have a lot of luggage. The view is incredible. Room 4 was very nice with a small 1/2 circle balcony and great view. Room 1 , 3 &4 are on the 1st floor which is up a flight of stairs and where the elevator starts. Room 7 & 8 have excellent views and are accessible from both the stairs and elevator. We enjoyed the free breakfast provided at El Correo , coffee and food were very good and staff was very nice. You could have coffee, juice and all but the 2 steak meals for free. There is a coffee area made with filtered water and a sitting area outside room 1,2,3 &4 where the elevator starts. Hotel provided bottled water to the room everyday. We ate dinner and had drinks upstairs at Antonio bistro which was very good and had a wonderful view. We had the hotel arrange shuttle for one group. One person overpaid their bill and hotel contacted us to arrange refund. Highly recommend this hotel. Due to steep hill we did sometimes take taxi back to hotel due to bad knee. (cost less than$5 with tip)

We got upgraded to a high floor - room 8.
It affords a fantastic view of the city and is very spacious as it has a separate living room.

The description says it has a heated swimming pool but it does NOT. Nor is there a gym.
It’s centrally located just about 5-7 minutes from the center of town.
The bus #8 or 9 run just outside the hotel and go further up to the Lookout if you want to save yourself the hike up. Local buses only cost 8 pesos. The drivers give change.
There’s no refrigerator nor microwave oven anywhere so be prepared.
Breakfast is served by going to one of their affiliated restaurants nearby. There are two. Better to go to the one just 1 block North of the hotel on Mesón street. It’s less crowded, gives much bigger portions and much faster service.

Remember that room 8 offers the very best views.

I spent four nights on holiday at the Hotel El Palomar. Upon arrival, I was upgraded to a spacious, top-floor suite with unbelievable views of the city, a comfortable bed, and a sky-lit shower. Incredible, and incredible value for what I paid. Great shower pressure, super clean, temperature control, and, again, the view cannot be beat.

My only complaint is that the noise from the restaurant upstairs is really terrible from about 1pm until late at night. The restaurant sat right above my sitting room, and they seem to constantly be moving chairs and tables, creating those sounds and making it really difficult to enjoy a peaceful siesta or evening watching the sunset. This isn't the hotel's fault (the restaurant is a complete, separate business), but there could be better coordination. It often sounded like someone at the restaurant was moving tables and chairs when no customers were there for completely superfluous reasons.

Excellent location super clean and best part they have valet parking witch a lot of hotels downtown do not offer. The free breakfast at El Correo was also a plus. Everything was very clean, and staff was very friendly.

I had the opportunity to travel around the world, but the view from the family suite was out of this world. The location is good but you will need to walk to get to the city center. The staff was very friendly, they helped my wife to coordinate a bday gift for me which was a great surprise. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room huge. Highly recommend this hotel for your next stay in SMA, I will come back for sure.

Pros: This is a beautiful small hotel in a great location with amazing views of the town. It;s just a a short uphill climb from main square. Each room is unique and quite large with great amenities. Rooms on the top floor (#8-10) have that amazing view. Breakfast is off the menu in a very lovely courtyard or can be brought to your room. Staff is helpful and friendly.

Cons: The hotel is on a main street with busses chugging up the hill, so certain rooms (#5, which is where we initially stayed), is particularly noisy. The silver lining for us was that the hotel graciously let us stay in other rooms that were vacant, so we got to sample three different rooms. #8, a cozy suite with french doors overlooking the parroquia was our favorite was much quieter and just fine. #10 is quite rage and interesting and also quieter. The staff do not speak much English and our Spanish is limited but with "charades" experience and google translate we managed. Other guests at the hotel were Mexican, so our English had limited utility. After a few days, we got tired of the limited choices on the breakfast menu.

All in all, we enjoyed staying there, given the location and the uniqueness, size and appointment of each room.

Just stayed there last month, small hotel located just blocks away the central garden and Church, has just a few rooms very well decorated and with nice ammenities. Our fare included breakfast a la carte, parking and wifi. The hotel has an excellent view overlooking downtown and some rooms offer balconies or terraces.
Perfect if you plan to walk around during your trip.

This hotel was recommended to us as a boutique hotel, one of the best in San Miguel de Allende with magnificent views. We booked direct specifically for our stay for the Day of the Dead festivities. To start the views were superb both from suite and the terrace restaurant. The front of house, Christian was superb doing everything he could to make our stay enjoyable however there were some minor glitches with our suite such as broken lights, non flushing w.c. and a jacuzzi that unfortunately didn't work for the entirety of our stay. Being the top suite just below the terrace it was very noisy at night and early in the morning with chairs & tables being moved for breakfast. The restaurant / bar on the terrace is listed as an amenity of the hotel but you cannot charge food & beverage to your room and the service was very inconsistent in terms of what was included in your rate and the staff themselves, one member of staff refused to acknowledge English until the last day and he wanted tipping! The restaurant as well in comparison those in the surrounding area was expensive. It was a great shame in all as the hotel had huge potential, the majority off staff were superb but the facilities & set-up fell short of expectation. It didn't however detract to much from San Miguel de Allende which is a fantastic place....

I spent 3 days in San Miguel De Allende with my family and we stayed at the wonderful Palomar boutique hotel.
The location is perfectly central, by slightly away from the village center turmoil.
Rooms are beautifully decorated respecting the character of the old mansion. Service is excellent and the sky’s roof bar and restaurant has a breathtaking view over all San Miguel de Allende.
I definitely give a 10 to this great place.

This hotel was more like a motel. It was a mix of good and bad. Here is my assessment:

The Good:
Location: it just a few blocks away from the center of town and pretty close to lots of restaurants.
The Room: we stayed in a two bedroom suite. It was roomy and very comfortable. Two big bathrooms and plenty of common seating areas including a big terrace with a nice view.
The Restaurant: there is a rooftop restaurant which was very nice.

The Bad:
Very noisy. The street noise was very loud until about 11:00 pm. For me that was a problem.
There is no lobby or common sitting area, just a hallway to your room. And for the record, there is no swimming pool. Had I known that, we would not have stayed there.
There is no concierge, so if you need help picking a restaurant or making other arrangements forget about asking the staff. The gals in the office were completely unhelpful and surly. The guys made an effort and were helpful at times by driving us places.
Personally, when I'm on vacation I want more amenities than this hotel offered and I'm willing to pay for it. For that reason alone I would not stay there again.

One more thing that made me very angry, we booked this room through Booking.com. We had guaranteed price of $845. I reconfirmed that price the the day before the trip. However, the hotel charged us $972. about an 18% increase. We can't figure out how they came with that. It wasn't the exchange rate. Booking.com was no help either. Not a big deal but lesson learned.
