I spent four nights on holiday at the Hotel El Palomar. Upon arrival, I was upgraded to a spacious, top-floor suite with unbelievable views of the city, a comfortable bed, and a sky-lit shower. Incredible, and incredible value for what I paid. Great shower pressure, super clean, temperature control, and, again, the view cannot be beat. My only complaint is that the noise from the restaurant upstairs is really terrible from about 1pm until late at night. The restaurant sat right above my sitting room, and they seem to constantly be moving chairs and tables, creating those sounds and making it really difficult to enjoy a peaceful siesta or evening watching the sunset. This isn't the hotel's fault (the restaurant is a complete, separate business), but there could be better coordination. It often sounded like someone at the restaurant was moving tables and chairs when no customers were there for completely superfluous reasons.

This hotel was recommended to us as a boutique hotel, one of the best in San Miguel de Allende with magnificent views. We booked direct specifically for our stay for the Day of the Dead festivities. To start the views were superb both from suite and the terrace restaurant. The front of house, Christian was superb doing everything he could to make our stay enjoyable however there were some minor glitches with our suite such as broken lights, non flushing w.c. and a jacuzzi that unfortunately didn't work for the entirety of our stay. Being the top suite just below the terrace it was very noisy at night and early in the morning with chairs & tables being moved for breakfast. The restaurant / bar on the terrace is listed as an amenity of the hotel but you cannot charge food & beverage to your room and the service was very inconsistent in terms of what was included in your rate and the staff themselves, one member of staff refused to acknowledge English until the last day and he wanted tipping! The restaurant as well in comparison those in the surrounding area was expensive. It was a great shame in all as the hotel had huge potential, the majority off staff were superb but the facilities & set-up fell short of expectation. It didn't however detract to much from San Miguel de Allende which is a fantastic place....

We had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and one large living room. The view of the city from the balcony was beautiful. It felt like home with the warm atmosphere and rustic furniture. It was perfect for a large family. The rooftop restaurant is very nice! It's a bit pricey, the kind of price you'd expect at an all inclusive hotel. But the location is perfect. Just a five minute walk to chocolate and churros!

We traveled with our 3 boys ages 10/7/2 and my mother. We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite. It was very big and spacious, we chose this hotel because we were driving and looking for a hotel with parking. This had a perfect location it was walking distance to the main plaza. The room was very clean, we didn't have any issue with noise, maybe because we were traveling during the week. We were very pleased with the stay had 2 big bathrooms enough for our family of 6. Would highly recommend.

I spent 3 days in San Miguel De Allende with my family and we stayed at the wonderful Palomar boutique hotel. The location is perfectly central, by slightly away from the village center turmoil. Rooms are beautifully decorated respecting the character of the old mansion. Service is excellent and the sky’s roof bar and restaurant has a breathtaking view over all San Miguel de Allende. I definitely give a 10 to this great place.

Dining at El Palomar should have been a 4-5 star experience but was only 3 stars. It is a beautiful setting with an amazing roof top view of the city but the dining experience was only average. My wife and I shared French Onion soup, a beet salad, and a roasted chicken breast, all of which lacked flavor. The chicken breast was well over cooked and dry. Service was fair and should have been more attentive for our party of 8 celebrating a birthday. The view is definitely worth a visit, and the next time we go we will just have drinks.

This hotel was more like a motel. It was a mix of good and bad. Here is my assessment: The Good: Location: it just a few blocks away from the center of town and pretty close to lots of restaurants. The Room: we stayed in a two bedroom suite. It was roomy and very comfortable. Two big bathrooms and plenty of common seating areas including a big terrace with a nice view. The Restaurant: there is a rooftop restaurant which was very nice. The Bad: Very noisy. The street noise was very loud until about 11:00 pm. For me that was a problem. There is no lobby or common sitting area, just a hallway to your room. And for the record, there is no swimming pool. Had I known that, we would not have stayed there. There is no concierge, so if you need help picking a restaurant or making other arrangements forget about asking the staff. The gals in the office were completely unhelpful and surly. The guys made an effort and were helpful at times by driving us places. Personally, when I'm on vacation I want more amenities than this hotel offered and I'm willing to pay for it. For that reason alone I would not stay there again. One more thing that made me very angry, we booked this room through Booking.com. We had guaranteed price of $845. I reconfirmed that price the the day before the trip. However, the hotel charged us $972. about an 18% increase. We can't figure out how they came with that. It wasn't the exchange rate. Booking.com was no help either. Not a big deal but lesson learned.

I quickly learned that parking is a huge hustle in San Miguel de Allende so this Hotel was God sent. After going around and around the city looking for a parking spot and place to stay we came along El Palomar, it has its own parking. The staff quickly parked our car and unloaded our luggage. I had no reservation so and it was a busy Saturday morning. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Their only room available was a two room suite for $4000 pesos/night (around $230 bucks). I had no choice and for sure i was not going to go around looking for a parking spot. This room could have easily accommodated a family of at least 5-6. The room was very specious, beds were comfy, linen looked cleaned, and the two bathrooms were nice clean and fancy. Breakfast was complementary and tasty. Staff always ready to help out. Location was great, a 2 minute walk to la Plaza Principal and walking distance to most famous places. we never took a taxi since and pretty much walked all around the city. The only negative side, and not the hotel's fault, was my allergy to goose-feather pillow which i am allergic too and broke out in hives, a 50mg Benadryl helped out though. Overall, great staff, location, and comfort
