Hotel Matilda is a good choice in San Miguel de Allende. Pro's... Fantastic hospitality, Good contemporary art and sense of design, Free parking, location Cons... Stairs, Continental breakfast is lacking, no self serve coffee in the lobby, downstairs rooms are dark, no free bottled water
On one hand the service we received excellent service from Omar Medina, Andres Romo, Santiago Zarate, Adrian Ray and Niza was exceptional. Their attitude and willingness to help was superb. In fact in my over 50 years of travel in 7 continents, I have not received this kind of excellent service. All the staff members had great attitude and you can see they enjoyed their work. I cannot say enough about them. Now to the negative part. The time we checked in the toilet did not work and after 2 calls some one came and fiddled with the toilet and came back to tell us that the chain was broken and he was going to come back with the part. After sometime a real plumber came and looked at the toilet and said the flapper was broken and he went back to get the part. He finally came and fixed the toilet. Total turnaround time about an hour which was unacceptable for a 5 star hotel. This happened within 20 minutes of our arrival when you need to use the toilet after few hours flight ! Hint They could have changed the room. On the day of our departure,we found a dead Cricket near the door. We did not report this a swe were leaving. We can send you a picture if the management wants to see. Some other points for the management. No power outlets near the bed.. No coffee maker in the room. Tissue paper carton was placed under the sink and was not readily visible. Minor points but all adds up! Based on above I was torn about the overall rating.. I have to say that due to the fantastic service by the above staff, I chose to give the hotel "Excellent" rating. and ignore the problems in the room. I hope the management recognises the staff members listed above for their dedicated service.…
I would like to thank the staff at Hotel Matilda, including Adrian, Gabriela, and Santiago, among many others, who helped to make my stay exceptionally comfortable. On a day when I needed strong internet for an online meeting, the staff helped to situate me in an area that was quiet and had strong WiFi. Everyone on site was very courteous and ensured that the guests were treated with respect and kindness. A big thank you to everyone at Hotel Matilda!
We had an amazing four night stay at this fabulous boutique hotel! My daughter and I were in San Miguel for the first time for a destination wedding, and the Hotel Matilda was recommended to us. Thank goodness we took the suggestion - it was perfection!! I would normally give a list of pros and cons - but, in my opinion, there are no negatives to this hotel. Our room was large and comfortable, and the bathroom was luxurious- with a large walk in rain shower and an amazing soaking tub. We enjoyed both restaurants on the property very much - and the complimentary continental breakfast was the best I have ever come across. The green juice was the perfect morning elixir after a night of tequila cocktails! Everyone on the hotel staff were simply amazing! We felt so pampered. The front desk/concierge/valet staff were top notch - always ready with ideas and suggestions of what to do in the city, and there to happily welcome us back after our adventures. I cannot recommend this this hotel enough. It is a vibrant, modern, hospitable gem in the middle of a beautiful historic city. We can’t wait to go back!!…
I had an incredible stay at Hotel Matilda. The location of this beautiful space is fantastic and the decor was incredibly chic and comfortable. Staying here was my vacation splurge and I made sure to use every amenity - the pool, the spa, the complimentary breakfast. There are cheaper places to stay in San Miguel but this hotel had everything I was looking for and more! I had booked the cheapest room and to my surprise the room I received, while a little small, had a balcony overlooking the pool and the gorgeous mural so I spent some good time reading out there. The bed was comfortable the bath was luxe (towels and robe so fluffy!), and even though I overlooked the pool and bar, noise was not noticeable. I loved my stay at Matilda and highly recommend!
This was a perfect location for our visit to SMA. I loved the decor in the lobby as well as the pool area. The bathroom in our room was spacious and beautiful. The room however was quite small and felt even more so because of the oversized furniture. It felt like there was no where to move around. I enjoyed our stay however had been looking forward to some spa treatments but the front desk people did not seem very informed and made no effort to book anything for us. In general it was a nice place to stay but for the price I expected a higher level of service.
The hotel is nice. Service at the front desk was excellent. Our room had a small patio area that was very relaxing. The beds were super comfortable. The restaurant was excellent. We had breakfast the two mornings we were there and the food was delicious. Service was a little slow. We had lunch and it was also very good. I felt prices were a little high so expect to pay more at this hotel. One night there was an event going on at the bar/restaurant and it was somewhat loud. If you are sensitive to noise then this may present a problem. Location is close to everything. We pretty much were able to walk to most of the recommended things to do. You will enjoy your stay at this hotel.
We checked in for a 4 night stay over New Year's 2021. What a wonderful experience. From the time the hotels car/driver picked us up at the airport, the experience with the staff and at the property were all 5 star. We booked via AMEX where we received a room upgrade, continental breakfast (Yogurt, granola, fruit, coffee, juice and homemade bread) and a USD100 hotel credit upon check in. The grounds are spotless, architecturally pleasing and quite comfortable. We used the gym and the spa and could not have been happier. As we were traveling during COVID we were amazed at the precautions taken at the hotel but also throughout the city of San Miguel and in the shops and restaurants. Bruce James the GM at The Matilda knows how to run a property in addition to motivating and training staff during unique travel times. The Matilda is a MUST place to stay.…
My mom and I recently completed a wonderful 4-night stay at the Hotel Matilda. Starting two weeks before our arrival, Gustavo was extremely helpful in booking restaurants and answering all our questions via phone and email. His excellent service continued when we arrived as he went above and beyond to help us recover a suitcase lost by American Airlines, spending hours on the phone with local airport staff to track it down and give us updates. I felt like we could truly relax knowing it was in his hands. The hotel itself is also lovely -- well-designed modern rooms, contemporary artwork throughout, and in a great location close to all the main sights and restaurants. Would definitely stay again on a future trip to San Miguel!
Our stay at Hotel Matilda was excellent. Everyone was friendly, from the front desk, especially Gustavo, to the restaurants and everyone in between. The hotel was very clean, they are taking Covid serious and we felt safe. I couldnt reccomend Hotel Matilda more.
