This b&b is like a small, beautiful 5 star hotel. The spacious rooms (with comfortable cozy beds) are decorated with Mexican art objects and the large bathrooms are covered with colorful tiles made in Mexico. Because the weather was warm we ate delicious breakfasts outside in a courtyard with a fountain surrounded with flowers and the walls that bordered the courtyard were draped with 12 feet high bougainvillea vines. Our hosts were a warm, gracious couple who accommodated all of our tourist type needs. I would never stay any where else in San Miguel de Allende!

We spent 10 days over the Christmas holidays at Antigua Capilla and loved every minute of it. Antonieta and Francisco were warm and welcoming hosts. The entire property is serene and tranquil and the rooftop deck offers specatular views of greater San Miguel and gorgeous sunsets. Our room was beautifully and artistically furnished and the bed was fabulously comfortable. Each morning we were served a fresh, delicious breakfast consisting of a variety of Mexican specialties and fresh fruit, plus great coffee. The heart of San Miguel, with the beautiful pink La Piroquia, Artisan Market, countless lovely shops and many great restaurants, is just a short walk away. We highly recommend Antigua Capilla and look forward to a return visit.

I have been to Antigua Capilla several times in the past several years. Each visit is like coming home to.. "my home away from home"! Antonieta and Francisco are such lovely hosts and are always there to help with anything I may need. They have taken the time to help with suggestions on just about everything from sightseeing & transportation to finding ceramics and folk art pieces.
The main house and each of the guest rooms are artfully decorated with a different theme of Mexican folk art, all charming. The rooms are immaculate and spacious as are the bathrooms. Also, the water on the property is purified.
A delicious breakfast is served in the dining room or out in the garden patio...the garden is frequently visited by the neighborhood hummingbirds to add to the already delightful garden experience! There is a refrigerator stocked with beverages and snacks, coffee and tea in the kitchen available 24 hrs. (all on the honor system). There is also a rooftop terrace with tables and chairs to have an afternoon glass of wine or just enjoy the enchanting city views.
The B & B is a short downhill walk into the central Jardin of San Miguel where you can enjoy celebrations the city always has to offer or just some of the best shopping I have found anywhere.
Just writing this, I can't wait until my next visit!!

We travel a lot, staying in B&Bs and small boutique hotels. Unlike so many of the accommodations in San Miguel, this meticulously planned and executed hostelry is only 15 years old, so it has modern conveniences (think plentiful electrical plug-ins for example) , while having the character and charm of a much older structure. The details are amazing. Having built several custom homes for myself, I can only begin to imagine how painstaking the planning was.

The room was exceptionally quiet, furnished with artistic detail and an extremely comfortable bed. The common areas also had stylish detail and some wonderful reference books that we enjoyed browsing.

Having the owners onsite and almost instantaneously responsive is wonderful. They are only too happy to assist with whatever needs to be done. And they (apparently) rotate their presence at breakfast each morning. The breakfasts are scrumptious and vary (host Antonieta said there were 10 different recipes they use) every morning. Those recipes would appear to be Mexican so it is a variation on a theme.

Being on a hill means you get a great view, particularly from the expansive roof top deck, and also that you need to be able to walk about 15 minutes up hill. You can just walk down the street per Antonieta's map, or turn left out of the B&B and go down through the "Secret Garden," a much prettier and quieter way to town and probably no longer. Cabs are about $5 each way and readily available, particularly by the little parks at the bottom of the hill. Antonieta can also call a taxi for you. They'll be prompt and nicer cars than the standard "green and whites."

We are truly honored to hear that you consider us the best B&B you may ever stay in—what a compliment! It's wonderful to know that you appreciated the meticulous planning and execution that went into creating our inn. We take pride in blending modern conveniences with the character and charm of a classical structure, and we're delighted that it resonated with you. Your recognition of the details and artistic touches in both the rooms and common areas warms our hearts, and we're pleased that you found the environment comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. It's fantastic to hear that you took advantage of the expansive rooftop deck and the great views it offers. We look forward to the possibility of welcoming you back to Antigua Capilla B&B in the future. The BnB has a lovely courtyard with a fountain, flowers and seating to enjoy it all. There is also a very nice large rooftop patio with city views. All the rooms are decorated with Mexican art and crafts, have gas fireplaces and comfortable beds Breakfast is Mexican or American and it is all good. The owners were very helpful and their suggestions were spot on. We appreciated that they offer private convenient transportation to and from the airport. The BnB is in a quiet part of town which is nice as many of the hotels have rooftop clubs with music at night. The Inn is about a 10 minute walk downhill to the center/historic area and a longer walk back as it is up hill. We often took a taxi or Uber back in the evenings for $3-4 dollars. Taxis and Uber cost $3-4 to go anywhere in San Miguel and are not hard to come by.

I have been staying at Antigua Capilla every year for many years. It features everything I look for in a boutique hotel: beauty, aesthetics, charm, cleanliness, comfort, safety, conveniences, and helpful, delightful innkeepers. The rooms feature beautiful Mexican folk art and each room is unique. The bathrooms are large and feature gorgeous tile. The king beds are extremely comfortable. The rooms are well-lit and well-ventilated. I like fresh air, and the windows fully open and have screens (rare to find anywhere, especially in colonial Mexico). The water throughout the property is purified - a huge plus for me. There is an open kitchen for guests, a gorgeous rooftop patio with some of the best views of the city in all of San Miguel, and a lovely inner courtyard featuring an antique chapel. I really appreciate that I can experience the fun celebrations and party scene of San Miguel in the centro (downtown area), and then return to Antigua Capilla for a relaxing, restful experience. I am not kept awake by loud noise and blaring music and I can experience the best of both worlds. The staff is very helpful, and the breakfasts in the beautiful dining room are delicious. When you step inside the doors of Antigua Capilla, you feel like you have entered an enchanted place. I have stayed at Antigua Capilla with my husband, friends, family, and even an art group, and each experience has been a delight.

Antigua Capilla exceeded our expectations and made our experience a memory of a lifetime. As you walk into the property you are immediately greeted with Mexican tiled steps and perfectly manicured plants. As you enter the home you are then greeted with a beautifully decorated home with Mexican art displayed throughout the home. Antonieta and her staff were welcoming and made you feel like you were the most important guest. Breakfast each day was tasty and relaxing, especially if you sat outside and took in the beauty of their courtyard. The cherry on top was the magical sunsets on their rooftops. We will definitely be coming back with the family to show off this gem.

This is a marvelous B&B, and the attentive owners went way beyond the call of duty to make our 5-day stay perfect. Their love of this home--which they themselves built 15 years ago--is obvious in every beautiful detail and will make even the most demanding client happy to be here. The food is delicious and the service impeccable; the rooms are gigantic, modern, traditional and filled with art and all the necessary closet, surface and bureau spaces. As a special treat, they built the rooms and courtyard around a small 15th century chapel! When San Miguel gets too busy or noisy for you, you can easily get back to your "home" to enjoy the quiet and beauty of the interior common areas and courtyard or the fantastical roof patio with views of, well, everything from the entire city and churches and markets and winding streets to the most gorgeous sunsets outside of Greece. If you think you need any additional amenity when you're there, don't fret--Antonietta will take care of it quickly and efficiently.

The Antigua Capilla B&B is a must for your trip to San Miguel de Allende. The home, exquisitely decorated, was built around an old chapel by the hosts Antonieta and Francisco. We marveled each day at the beautiful decor in the bedrooms and the public spaces, including the spectacular rooftop patio. It was a refreshing and calming oasis upon return from our sightseeing days, and the walk up the hill.

Breakfast is delicious and it was fun to meet and share experiences with fellow guests in a more traditional B&B atmosphere. In addition to being warm and friendly, Antonieta and Francisco were super responsive and very helpful in touring suggestions, including setting up drivers for out of town excursions or transportation to the airport.

We would definitely return and recommend Antigua Capilla B&B to others.

Thanks for a great time.

We had another fantastic visit to San Miguel and Antigua Capilla. This remains at the top of the accommodations I’ve ever stayed in. Antonieta and Francisco are wonderful, friendly hosts and always helpful procuring taxis and answering our numerous questions. The building is architecturally stunning and no detail is left out. There are high end arts from all around Mexico that decorate the building and each themed room. Every night I soaked in the enormous bath tub and later relaxed by the beautiful gas fireplace. The room was spotless, the bed and pillows extremely comfortable as well as the high end linens on the bed. Every morning we enjoyed a delicious different Mexican breakfast, complete with fresh fruit, entree, homemade bread and marmalades. Each afternoon we spent some time on the rooftop deck relaxing and enjoying stunning views of the city. Put this B&B at the top of your list when you come to San Miguel.

Probably not suitable for the wedding ceremony, nor wedding party. But, you could ask the owner. It would be an ideal place for wedding guests to spend a few nights.
