I honestly think this might be my favorite place I've ever stayed anywhere. And I travel a lot. It is gorgeously designed, incorporating an actual antique chapel in the courtyard of a bed and breakfast with beautiful rooms, each individualized. The owner, Antioneta, is a lovely person who made me feel at home. The breakfasts are generous and delicious. I could not rate this place more highly. Can't wait to go back

We had come to SMDA for a long weekend and could not have been happier with this place. From the moment we walked in the door we knew we were going to love it. It’s a very welcoming place with very welcoming people. Pros: -the place itself is very nice. Well decorated in both the common areas and rooms, cool little chapel in the middle of the courtyard, and great views. Each room is different and the Huichol room was a good one. It had a balcony to the courtyard so there was plenty of light -the people here were great. We were met right when we walked in and got a personal tour of the hotel. Everyone who worked there was always warm and said hello -the views from the rooftop were awesome. You are set back a little from the center of San Miguel but you are up a ways so the views are amazing from the nice rooftop patio. It a great spot to sit back and relax during the late afternoon Cons: -although the views were nice, the location is not in the center of San Miguel. Although very close, the hill the property sits on makes it sometimes tough to walk up and down. We like to walk but there were times we opted for a taxi which are easy to find -a slightly minor thing, but we wish there were some drawers in our room that were not in the bathroom. There’s a closet but no drawers in the bedroom area with a shelf but more space to put clothes would be better. And a bigger safe would be nice too Tips: -we chose the Huichol room which had a nice view of the courtyard with plenty of windows. Our friends stayed in the Guerrero room which only had one window that had less light -use Miguel for transportation which the hotel recommends and coordinates with. We went to Guanajuato with him and enjoyed our day trip We would definitely stay here again and would like to thank everyone there for a great experience and stay.

This place is more of a boutique hotel than a B & B. It was recently built, and one of its two courtyards has a 17th century chapel at its centre. Each room is designed to reflect a region of Mexico. The art and tile work are curated as to acquisition and location. Mexican art––and folk art in particular––can be overwhelming or just plain tacky. The only words to use here is "quiet elegance". Our bathroom may not have had a lot of square footage, but the 16' ceilings tiled most of the way up, the stained glass windows, large vanity and sink were more than comfortable. The bedsheets were high quality, almost silk-like. The king size bed was to die for in comfort. Our room also had a gas fireplace which came in handy on the odd chilly night. The facility provides (for a fee) after hours self-serve snacks, wine, beer, water, and free coffee and tea. The breakfasts are satisfying, typically fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, followed by one of the many versions of Mexican breakfast eggs along with juice and coffee. Or you can just order eggs and toast. The owners and operators are dual citizen Americans from San Francisco. Antonieta is an exceptional hostess and the best concierge for anything you want to do, see, eat, experience. Antonieta is bubbly and effervescent. She is a pleasure to speak with and deal with. And she certainly knows her history and art. Incidentally, Antonieta will arrange a limo pick up from the Mexico City Airport or elsewhere, and the return trip. (From Mexico City it is a 3 hour drive.) The B & B is located about a 12 minute walk to the main plaza. To be fair you will be walking downhill in one direction and up hill on the return, unless you take a taxi. But by being on the hill, the B & B provides a fabulous view from its patio rooftop of old San Miguel and of course achingly beautiful sunsets over the mountains. We fully intend to return in the near future.

My husband and I recently spent six nights in San Miguel at the Antigua and Capilla. The hosts, Antoineta and Francisco were extremely helpful and pleasant. From the initial reservation until our departure nothing was left to chance. She arranged for a driver to and from the airport in Leon (about 90 minutes away) and met us on our arrival. The lovely property was almost a museum of Mexican artwork. We stayed in the Huatulco room which was beautifully decorated. The bed was very comfortably equipped with a mattress heater. The fireplace was very finicky but the host supplied us with a back up heater. We were not expecting it to be so cold in San Miguel, but that is the nature of travel. The breakfast was delicious and always started with a bowl of fresh fruit and optional granola and yogurt. I would not recommend this property to anyone with mobility issues as it is near the top of the hill in the city. However, cabs are extremely easy to find and inexpensive. We really did love our stay at this beautiful place and would stay again.

Rarely does a place live up to all the hype, but Antigua Capilla BB certainly does. This place is amazing in terms of colonial design with modern-day amenities The breakfasts are incredible, prepared for you at your leisure. The hosts, Antonieta and Francisco, who are transplants from San Francisco, are fantastic and beyond accommodating. The only drawback, if you could call it that, is the hike up the hill to get to the place. Not an issue for us since we like to walk and love a challenge. If not, you can catch a taxi and it's relatively inexpensive from the heart of town. It also has a terrace that provides amazing views. We can't wait to get back to ACBB.
