Let me preface this by saying I have never written a negative hotel review on TripAdvisor, but I had to make an exception for Hotel Mirador in Copper Canyon. Although the activities in Copper Canyon were great, Hotel Mirador was a living nightmare. Sure, you could get much better food at a cheap buffet joint, there is no WiFi (They even admitted that it went down after a storm 2 months prior), and there doesn’t seem to be a manager on premiss. But the thing that “bugged” us the most was the BED BUGS that fed on our blood all night. We literally tossed and turned for hours, feeling like we were being bit by mosquitoes under the sheets. The next day, we were riddled with bed bug bites (pictures below). We politely asked the receptionist if we could switch rooms, but they simple said “we don’t have bugs,” and did nothing about it. Please enjoy Copper Canyon, but be very wary of Hotel Mirador.…
Incredible views of the canyon Staff is very helpful and food is oké Only thing is that one night is good enough When arriving with el Chepe from Los Mochis, you have plenty of time to go with the hotel tour to explore the surroundings and the next day go to the park till 12:30 and still have time to take the train out. If staying longer it could feel as a tourist trap ......
The view of Copper Canyon from the rooms as well as from the bar and restaurant is breathtakingly beautiful. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet with custom made omelettes is good and if you make sure to ask for an extra shot of espresso in your caffe latte it becomes quite tasty.
After my wife and myself arrive using the Chepe; staff wasn´t aware about our arrival to Divisadero; I made around 7 calls and only 1 was answered; the receptionist doesn´t have the acknowledgment about how to takes us to the hotel. I need to walk and bee asking people about Balderrama´s Hotel. Additional; rooms doesn´t have internet service; Internet is available only at lobby and has an extra charge; it´s ridiculous to charge a cost for a basical service; many luxury hotels offer this at no charge; not to mention old televisions at room without Netflix. I expect more for this hotel compared for the cost that we are paying
This hotel has the wow factor. Stayed for 2 nights. Picked up at the train station - and driven up the hill to the hotel. Room with an amazing view. Our package included breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s a set 3 course meal for lunch and dinner but found it excellent. Mix of Mexican and western food. Breakfast was a buffet with lots of choices. Very good. Drinks are expensive. Rooms are very clean and service is excellent. Tours included in package are excellent. Copper Canyon is an amazing place and this hotel is perfect. Only negative is that they charge for bottled water and no WiFi. That’s a shame. Still 5 stars though.
