Staying locally at a B&B this place was recommended to us as we had a dog with us and it was dog friendly. We were in a side dining room, the service was good, the menu was exciting and we had a very pleasant evening in the middle of June in this lovely village.

My husband and I went for an evening meal which was delicious. My husband had duck and I had sea bass. The service was great and we were really thankful that they went the extra mile to fit us in even though they were very busy and I would definitely recommend The Royal Oak.

Came here on recommendation and from reviews here. Lovely inn. Nice staff. But...I'm reviewing the food. As a chef I understand pressure, time constraints, and budget but with the wealth of local produce the food was a lot to be desired. Our seating area had a good view of the kitchen, the chef took many trips to the microwave. Our... More

Having visited this pub for a meal on a previous visit to Yorkshire we were determined to come and stay....this time with our dog. It was every bit as good as we imagined. Fantastic room, comfortable beds, great shower and the food is exceptional. Such a big choice and all cooked to perfection. In addition Staff are so friendly and... More

I have not stayed in the rooms but I understand they are superb. I have however visited the Royal Oak 3 times in the last two month for meals with friends and I must say that each time was better than the one before. The food is wonderful with a varied menu to suit most tastes and with reasonable prices.... More

A friend recommended this place for the beer (they have two cask ales) and evening meals. We found it a welcoming and cozy place to spend a few nights. Gillamoor itself is charming, and you can easily get to some spectacular hikes. The big Yorkshire breakfasts kept us going all day, and it was nice to relax with a pint... More

I stayed here recently when I took a dear friend to say a last goodbye to her friend, who lived in Gillamoor but sadly had passed away. My friend had stayed here many times & waxed lyrical about the pub & how great it was. My job was to chauffeur my friend for the 2 days & I have to... More

Stayed in this pub over the b/h weekend for two nights. Dinner in the Pub was excellent. They have an area for eating and a bar area where you can also eat. The Breakfasts were multi-choice and plentiful (It's also plated if you have the Full Yorkshire breakfast). Good quality coffee too. Room was good. Bed cumfy. Shower was good... More

Just arrived and wanted somewhere close to eat. Was quite full but got a table. Fish pie was tasteless and the Barnsley chops were far to undercooked. Brought a big bowl of vegetables which were to much.

We have visited this pub several times over the past couple of years and always very good. Have stayed in the apartments to the rear and again, highly recommended. Nice beer garden to the front. Well worth a visit.
