A friend recommended this place for the beer (they have two cask ales) and evening meals. We found it a welcoming and cozy place to spend a few nights. Gillamoor itself is charming, and you can easily get to some spectacular hikes. The big Yorkshire breakfasts kept us going all day, and it was nice to relax with a pint... More

I stayed here recently when I took a dear friend to say a last goodbye to her friend, who lived in Gillamoor but sadly had passed away. My friend had stayed here many times & waxed lyrical about the pub & how great it was. My job was to chauffeur my friend for the 2 days & I have to... More

Stayed in this pub over the b/h weekend for two nights. Dinner in the Pub was excellent. They have an area for eating and a bar area where you can also eat. The Breakfasts were multi-choice and plentiful (It's also plated if you have the Full Yorkshire breakfast). Good quality coffee too. Room was good. Bed cumfy. Shower was good... More

Just arrived and wanted somewhere close to eat. Was quite full but got a table. Fish pie was tasteless and the Barnsley chops were far to undercooked. Brought a big bowl of vegetables which were to much.

We have visited this pub several times over the past couple of years and always very good. Have stayed in the apartments to the rear and again, highly recommended. Nice beer garden to the front. Well worth a visit.

We have visited this restaurant several times when on holiday in the area. All the staff are extremely welcoming and friendly, service is very good, and it is a very pleasant place to dine, food delicious. BUT it is unfortunate that the chefs are so intransigent when it comes to serving smaller portions, and appear to ignore any request. I... More

Thank you for your great comments and constructive comment too and I absolutely agree, we have had many conversations about food portion sizes over the years. The chefs do take it on board and respond accordingly but then after reducing the size of portions, unfortunately, (if you read other reviews) you will find that several people have then taken to... Spent one Sunday night at the Royal Oak Inn in the middle of April. The double room was on the first floor in the extension at the back of the pub next to the residents car park. The room was fine with a double bed. Although I like a fairly firm mattress the one on the bed was very firm... More

We appreciate all your positive comments and thank you for taking the time to give us a good review. The heating/water is only set to come on at 7.30am so as not to disturb guests early while on holiday, so I'm not sure what the noise was but I will try and get it investigated. We look forward to welcoming... More

Lunch today - delicious. A nice country Inn with real fire and cozy rooms. Portions more fitting to Dinner but lovely. One of the desserts was a bit stogy - Treacle Tart and with an odd taste but nothing to put you off.

We stayed in mid April for one night. We were the only people staying that night. We were made to feel uncomfortable asking for drinks as the bar staff were sat eating a hot lunch together. The room was very small and noisy with voices clearly audible from the bar area until after 11 and then from around 7.30 the... More

I really like trip advisor as a great way to check out places from genuine reviewers, however, when you can blatantly see that one off reviews who feel it necessary to exaggerate the truth just to slate a place; it is very disappointing. The only interaction you had with any staff over the duration of your stay was when you... More

Our room was quite small and fairly basic but it was clean, comfortable and had a great powerful shower. Our meal in the bar on the evening was excellent value for money. The portions were generous and all of the food we had was good quality - we loved the beef and stilton pie and the chicken, ham and leek... More
