Very nice cabin, spacious and clean, nice yard for evening fires in stargazing! Perfectly located to visit all the waterfalls and about a hour drive to porcupine mountain, which is a must see! There’s a cute convenience store across the street that serves tasty ice cream. Also has all the food staples you may need as well as a good selection of souvenirs. They also sell firewood to have that perfect fire after a long day of hiking and seeing great waterfalls.

This was our first trip up to the western part of the Upper Peninsula, and we were so happy that we chose to stay at Running Bear Resort. We stayed in the Bald Eagle Cabin and absolutely loved it. The cabin was very clean, had a spacious living room, bathroom & kitchen, the bed was very comfortable, and the cabin was equipped with free wifi, and Roku TV. The owner was super sweet, friendly and extremely helpful. If you are looking for a relaxing, affordable getaway in the heart of the western Upper Peninsula, then this is it. Running Bear Resort is a perfect central location to stay at if you’re looking to explore the surrounding area, and attractions. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you for making our stay perfect!

Havent reviewed in awhile but stayed again as a family of five this summer and as always, warm and welcoming hosts, clean, cozy cabins, working appliances (but no microwaves), wi-fi and tv have improved greatly in the past few years. there’s a reason their guests keep returning year after year and use as a base camp for day trips. Guests are outdoors people..ATVs, UTVs, kayakers, boaters, fisherfolk, hunters in season…all very friendly. There are cabins available between sequential bookings as they dont require week long stays as some resorts do…just bring your own bedding, pillows and toiletries..it’s all detailed on their website. if you are traveling or camping in the UP, you’ll probably have these with you. Enjoy your visit and dont forget the Paulding Mystery Light and Bond Falls which are soooo close by.

My hubby and I stayed here for our 6 year anniversary to be close to Bond Falls. Everything was wonderful, clean and cozy. We stayed in the Gray Wolf cabin. The king size bed was comfortable, we loved grilling outside on the charcoal burner they provide, the kitchen area inside comes with so many useful things. It was just awesome and we loved everything about our stay. Linda and her husband were great with us at check in. We hope to be back again one day!

Have stayed/reviewed before but it keeps getting better! The cabins are small, but clean. No a/c but fans and you have cool UP nights. No microwaves but stove, pots, pans, utensils and can build a campfire in the congregate area and wood provided. Wi-if is now reliable! Dog friendly but must be caged if left alone in cabin. Post co-vid..supply more of you4 own personal items (pillows, sleeping bags/blankets, towels)…it’s all spelled out on their website. Near Bond Falls, Paulding mystery light, casino down the road as well as groceries, restaurant, laundromat up the road, right on ATV trails with room for trailer and parking. If your machine is ailing, sales/repair/rental in Watersmeet. The owners are very accommodating and have a wealth of knowledge of the area and willing to share. They take pride in their resort and taking care of their guests. Treat them well..they deserve it.

Me and my friends rented a cabin for snowmobiling last year and we stayed the entire week. The cabin was very clean and extremely comfortable. The owners were very accommodating and we will be returning this year for a 10-day trip! The deer frequently traveled right by the cabins and that was cool!

From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. The owner was extremely kind and she helped us with directions for snowmobiling and takeout restaurant's. The cabin was clean, comfortable and well maintained. We had plenty of snow while there, and the parking area was well maintained. We are already planning our trip back next year.

Arrived looked ok (cabins were pressure washed and not painted so looked non appealing). Arrived Friday was greeted for payment, Saturday no one around as we nor did any of the RV sites have picnic tables (as they advertised). Finally Saturday late afternoon found the owners and was told "we dont have tables for you's" I explained we had a gathering the next day so they said they would bring us one (maybe 1.5' wide x 2.5 ' long no benches looked like a kiddie table). Had a family member show up on Sunday (as was explained when we asked for the picnic table) and they put up a tent (as we rented the "site") and within 5 minutes the owners were down wanting another $15 (the rent for a "site") I questioned and got attitude and the woman down right lied. We were told we could not have camp fire due to fire hazard (understandable) then woman when collecting $15 (the cost of a "site") was there said we could burn in the pit as long as it was in our portable grill well thats what we did and the husband came down swearing (yes profanity) and yelling and called us liers and said his wife was never by us to tell us anything (apparently a stranger must have charged the $15) and was so baligerant and rude and then apologized for profanity (after being told..,real classy). As for the "level" ground they advertise there is not one level piece of ground on the property so why advertise falsely. There fire "rings" are a few "little" rocks in a circle no work into putting that together. We will NEVER be recommending this so called resort (nicer at a wayside) nor staying there again!! Completely rediculous and the impression given when asked for a simple picnic table was that cabins take presidence over rv sites....extremely poor hospitality and they should be embarrassed

We stayed at Running Bear Resort for five nights and had the best time ever! The place is clean, cozy and well-kept.
Its central location to many of the area’s great nature sites makes the resort the perfect base for people who like to do day trips but still want the luxury of a proper bed to sleep in and a roof over their head at night.
With wildlife in abundance around the resort, we had just about as many great moments sitting outside the cabin enjoying a meal as we did driving to one of the many nearby water falls or hiking trails. We’ll be forever grateful to Linda for her kindness, help and advice – her knowledge of even quite remote sites provided us with some truly spectacular day trips and fond vacation memories.
If you plan on staying in the Ottawa National Forest area, Running Bear Resort is definitely the place to consider.

The prior reviewer is "spot on" with their review. The Running Bear is spotless and well maintained, and provides an excellent value in an out of the way location. Mike and Linda have owned the Running Bear for two years and have put a lot of work into it. Our cabin had all new carpentry, new furniture and carpet, great mattress, and new appliances in the kitchen. And it had satellite TV and high speed internet, which is a good thing in Paulding 'cause there ain't much else to do! We stayed 3 nights for a snowmobiling trip, the location is great with easy trail access. Mike drives the groomer so he knows the area and can help with trips to take. He is also good at getting a reluctant Polaris to start! So often these small resorts are old and dumpy, or you have to spend a fortune to go to a place with a lot of things you don't need. The Running Bear is a perfect value property...clean, comfortable, friendly, great location, good amenities. We will return!
