Spend your next vacation on the doorstep to the Maine wilderness. Create your own adventure. Raft, canoe or kayak, hike, bike, ATV, fish, hunt, rock climb, or just escape to the beauty of Maine. The cabins are central to outdoor adventures and also to destinations such as Greenville, Rangeley, and Jackman. A short walk or drive takes you to the general store, restaurants, and pubs. Each cabin sits high on the water's edge, just below the confluence of the Kennebec and Dead Rivers. There is a special energy from the river's flow here which can be felt from each cabin's private deck. Watch the rafts and kayaks float by, a fisherman cast a fly, or the eagles soar!

Cabin is in a great location as base camp for rafting. Had a great Labor Day weekend on the rivers. The staff across the street at the Inn were great. The grill ran out of propane later in the evening and there were no issues getting a refill from the Inn.

First off, everyone at the Inn by the River was SUPER friendly and helpful. This review is really based on the quality of the cabins, which were very poor. I expected them to be rustic, but I did not expect them to look like they had not been cleaned in 20 years. Also, every bed had springs sticking up into your back when you tried to sleep. They really need to replace all of the beds and furniture. The bathroom had been re-done and was nice and clean. It was beautiful to have a cabin right next to the river and we spent most of our time sitting on the porch. But, there was also lots of trash that folks had thrown off the side of the porch and no one had cleaned up. Perhaps I would feel better about the cabin if it were half the price. For what you are paying, it is not worth it.

We recently had a reunion in West Forks of older kayakers who had paddled together for over 30 years. The cabin was a prefect fit for the five of us. It is typical "old Maine" rustic but is very clean and has about everything you would need for a family or large group. We pretty much paddled most of the time we were there but the cabin has a great deck overlooking the river and a large fire pit and gas grill.
