Seraya Shores, 7 simple thatched roof bungalows on the sea, with crashing waves and black volcanic stone beach in Seraya Berat village, 2 hours north east of Kuta. Quiet, peaceful, great food, day trips to Amed, Tirtaganga, Ujung and Candi Dasa with good diving and snorkeling in the area. Great place to do nothing but swim, read, eat and enjoy some Balinese smiles.

Here is what my cousins think about this villa: I only like the bed. And... The air conditioner and the wifi. I like the room design, the shower and whatever is outside.

The location is amazing! You can swim in the outdoor infinity pool or go down the stairs and you’re already on the beautiful sand beach. The view from the terrace is amazing, and I still miss falling asleep to the sound of waves. The room was beautifully decorated and cleaned daily. The staff are so helpful, nice and accommodating. You can also book a tour or a driver trough them and they drive you anywhere you want. Our driver Wayan was just the best, he told us many tips and tricks when in Bali and also drove us to “secret” places to take photos or just sightseeing, away from the crowd. The breakfast is also delicious and they make it each day just for you, based on your order. They can also make you lunch and/or dinner which is also very good and also cheap. If you wish to dine out, an amazing restaurant is very near, just walk along the beach for about 50m and you’re there (they also have very affordable prices). Could not be happier with our choice of accommodation, location definitely is the best thing.

Beware that if you are booking the Sea Breeze Villa, you may not get the terraced room.
Liked · The view of the ocean from our bedroom window was spectacular. The resort was not full and at times it felt like we were the only ones there which was a huge bonus.
Disliked · Stained linens
No water in the bathroom shower or sink in the mornings but came on full power in the evenings. Not really that much of an issue.
Please note!!! When booking this resort through the booking website, it gives the impression that if you book the Sea Breeze Villa, you get the large private Terrace. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. You only get the terrace if you have the ground floor of the villa. The upstairs room at the Sea Breeze Villa has no outside space at all. I booked the Sea Breeze Villa for the large private terrace but it was occupied when we arrived and so had to take the upstairs room with no outside space and this was hugely disappointing.
Also, I had already paid for the terraced room and did not get any compensation for having the smaller non terraced space. I was not happy.

What can I say… alone (3) on site. The “competent” employee? Large room without air conditioning. Mosquito Boulevard. Exterior bathroom ditto.
As for the swimming pool, the water was green… we couldn’t even swim. The sea currents were too strong either.
In our resa booking, breakfast was included,… on site, not possible, no cook.
It's simple, we took our bags and left after an hour for another rental nearby, very pleasant. The name is Arjurna.

We had to stay 3 days, after an hour we left. Pension completely run down, not maintained. When we arrived at the entrance, we already wanted to flee. The photos on the various sites must be dated from the Pension's creation. This place could have been beautiful if it had been maintained. To flee!!

If you're looking for luxury, five-star service and a kids club, then Seraya Shores is not the place for you. BUT, if you're looking to disconnect from the world and have a peaceful stay in a natural environment, then Seraya is for you. Most of the staff are from nearby villages, which makes staying here more of a Balinese home-stay experience. Of course, there is a stunning infinity pool, amazing ocean views and lovely staff that treat you like you're family. The food is fabulous, served Indonesian family style in a location of your choice; on your porch, in the yoga bale, or in the covered dining area. You just have to know that when you come here, it is to relax and enjoy life. Bring a good book and spend the day at the pool under the umbrellas. The pace is a bit slower here and that's exactly what my family and I are looking for on a beach holiday. We live in Ubud, so for us...Seraya offers us the perfect getaway from the 'hustle and bustle' of the traffic in Ubud. Andika, the new owner is great and spending lots of time there to improve the service, facilities and guests' overall experience. I happily write this review, as my family and I are one of Seraya's most frequented guests with approximately 40 visits over the past 7 years! Thank you everyone at Seraya Shores!! You know we will be back soon!!

My husband and I were travelling to Bali for the first time to attend a wedding. Bali, has never been on our radar as a holiday destination. The wedding accomodation was all taken care of so we decided to take a week before the event to explore this much visited country. I was straight onto Trip Advisor to check out where to go. Seraya Shores came up and the reports were amazing. I decided to go with it and emailed them. We did all our correspondence through email and it was amazing, all true, correct and safe, even paid our deposit for the week all of $115 australian dollars (one nights accomodation), We were after a "True Balinese Experience" and boy did we get one. We were met at the airport by Knowman (1st Born) there are alot of Knowmans' in Bali, who was just wonderful, dressed very nicely, spoke english, kindof, and very happy to see us, as were we.
He then excorted us to his van, which was a great relief, compared to the other vehicles around, a lovely new mini van with leather seats and a six seater. (I had pre-arranged a driver through Sereya Shores over the internet) around $40 australian dollars a day. so cheap. Knowman was a great driver in a very hectic enviroment. We kept him all week. We arrived safely at the resort stopping briefly at Candi Dassi for a "Wee" break. Knowman will take you to very nice restaurants with great clean facilities.
Well, then we arrived in "Paradise" wow, have absolutely beautiful is this place. We were shown to our villa, we had another couple with us, our friends. We had the Seabreeze Villa, no 6 & 7. No 6 was upstairs which was ours and our friends downstairs. The only noise you hear is the crashing of the waves! (ear plugs may be handy) The rooms were so absolutely beautiful and clean and views to die for. The bathrooms were amazing with a huge bottled water outlet. We also ate at the resort as after the first meal, we couldn't possibly have done better, fresh fish, banana pancakes, amazing local produce and oh, the ginger tea with honey, we couldn't get enough. I enjoy a wine so I found the local white very nice, Not quiet a New Zealand Sav Blanc, but it grows on you, if you enjoy a good wine, bring some with you as there are not many, if any, bottle shops in Bali, but when in Bali!!! Also, a nice cold beer around the pool or a fresh coconut was perfect.
The resort staff were just beautiful, amazing cooks, cleaners and just wonderful to chat to about their families.
The other villas were also very beautiful, I don't think you could go wrong. They will also arrange for massages on the yoga deck. You can also get internet from the office.
Take a trip down to Candi Dassi to buy your Bali bits, it is so much cheaper than the main tourist areas and so much nicer and cleaner also the Water Palace.and up to Amed for diving and Scuba, Knowman will take you.ed this place and would certainly go back.

If you are after 5 star with all the trimmings...aircon/western influence/ shops at your door step, pampering packages, etc.....this is NOT the place for you!
However, if you want peace, beauty and a truly unique Indonesian experience with comfort, great food and excellent staff....make sure you come to Seraya Shores!!!
We stayed in villa 3 (large upstairs room that had amazing views over the gardens to the ocean) which was more than big enough for the three of us. The king size bed was comfortable and had netting around it and the large day bed was more than adequate for our daughter.
We kept the shutters up all night to keep the room cooler as there is only one pedestal fan so basically it was like sleeping on a verandah. It was great to feel closer to nature and hear the sound of the crashing waves at night and listen to the beautiful birds in the morning.
The bathroom is large, open but private with the shower water running out of a bamboo pole! There is hot water but takes quite a few minutes to come through, however, as it was quite hot and humid while we were there, we found the cold water refreshing enough.
The infinity pool was amazing as you are truly on the waters edge and there are plenty of chairs and umbrellas for relaxing near by.
You can eat where ever you feel like it but I would suggest going down to one of the shelters overlooking the coast line. Each gazebo has table/chairs and daybed.
Meals are prepared on site to order and any special requests are accommodated. We have no complaints about the food whatsoever!
A bonus we unexpectedly enjoyed was the most amazing massage down at the yoga shelter. A couple of men were brought in by the request of other guests and we had he opportunity to use them also. Definitely recommend making time for them but will need to see office to arrange.
Staff were brilliant and attended to our every need from meals to transport to general information about the Seraya region.
I highly recommend this truly unique experience!!

I have been coming here since its inception, and like never before, stepping into Seraya is the perfect antidote to the weariness of the Bali that often feels out of control these days. It feels like coming back to family, wonderful caring sweet staff who tirelessly give of themselves, rooms that are homey rather than glamorous, divine spaces by the sea to unwind, the sound of the waves the major accompaniment, and really wonderful food. The new owner Andito brings such good will to the spirit of this special place and space and nearby are marvellous excursions to the real Bali where it still feels like time stood still.
The last 6 years I have been bringing our annual yoga retreat here and for all, it is always an unmitigated joy in its simple serenity without maddening distractions.

We've stayed at and explored many places in Bali over the past 5 years but our most recent stay at Seraya Shores was easily the best. We planned to stay 3 nights and ended up staying for 10. We stayed in the Bungalow and upstairs in the Seabreeze and enjoyed both. The view from the Seabreeze room was amazing and a great way to begin and finish each day.
We found Seraya Shores a place to relax away from the hustle and bustle- next to the ocean at the foot of the mountains, with friendly helpful staff. The surrounding area of Amlapura and East Bali in general are interesting places to explore with much to see and do.
Thank you to Santow, Komang, Dayu, Gede and Nyoman for their help in making our holiday so enjoyable. Special thanks to Andito for his generosity and hospitality!
