#4 of 19 Specialty lodging in Magoebaskloof
Kurisa Moya Nature Lodge is only 3 - 4 hours from Johannesburg, but the privacy and tranquility offered at this Nature Lodge will restore your spirit. Kurisa Moya is a 422 hectare property in the Magoebaskloof area near Polokwane Limpopo Province. Kurisa Moya is perched on the edge of the Drakensburg escarpment, so it has mesmerising views. This soulful place embraces a pristine indigenous forest with massive moss-covered trees where ancient Yellow-woods carry an energy all of their own. Burbling streams make their way over boulders to the dams below. Nature's tranquility is broken only by booming Samango monkeys, croaking crimson-winged Knysna Turacos. Kurisa Moya has mountains, rivers, indigenous forests and bushveld and offers accommodation in 3 unique venues - each private and tranquil. 7 marked hiking trails, slackpacking, guided birding walks with South Africa's top local bird guide, 4x4 sunset drives, fly-fishing lessons, Adventure Mt Bike trails, village tours and home stays.

Off the grid and off the beaten track, the peace and tranquility was interrupted only by the beckoning bird calls. Our rustic but welcoming log cabin was completely embraced by the surrounding forest so we could observe the beautiful birds and other forest critters without being noticed. A must for birders and nature lovers. We will definitely visit again!

My wife and I stayed in one of the forest cabins for our wedding anniversay during November 2019. It was incredible, the cabins are stunning, in the middle of the forest so you do not hear any cars or traffic, only the bush, and birds. You can take beautiful walks in the forest. We opted to do our own catering except for breakfast, which Lisa and her team prepared. It was value for money and excellent food. Will definitely go back. Amazing!!

Off the grid, set in lush forest, Kurisa Moya is the place to unwind and recharge. The log cabins are comfortable and secluded. We took the option of dinners which are delivered to the cabin: 5 star genuine delicious homecooked meals, and the portions are ample. They offer a selfdrive birding outing with the resident field guide, as well as birding walks and nature trails on the property. Both were phenomenal. Our guide Paul is one of the best I have come across. I recommend Kurisa Moya without reservation, especially for those who like to venture off the beaten track.

Gorgeously positioned in a stunning piece of indigenous forest. Very expensive for what you get. We were a family of 4 (2 kids under 10). the forest cabin is fabulously positioned, but TINY. When I'm paying that sort of money I don't expect to have to eat my dinner on my bed because its raining outside and there's no room in the chalet for 4 people. Waking up at 2am with water dripping from the roof onto my head is also not my idea of a quality lodge. For the price we paid, I certainly expected more. I think there is other accommodation offering better value for money. I left feeling rather ripped off...

We stayed in the cabins at Kurisa Moya and did a guided bird tour with Paul. Everything was absolutely fantastic!! The cabin was so lovely and felt very secluded. We had a nice braai outside and even had a wood owl come in for a visit. We did a day long bird walk with Paul and ticked off 44 lifers! I am and ecologist and my boyfriend is a field ranger and we were still blown away! He was utterly fantastic in every way! We even had packed lunches for the day which would so nice and convenient. Booking was easy to do and we even booked last minute. Lisa was so darling with helping us make our little getaway a dream come true! Highly recommended!! We are already trying to find our next date that we can go back!
