I went to Salayish at a friend's recommendation. Me and my two friends absolutely fell in love with the place. Tired and in sensory overload from life in Addis, we were very happy to walk into the tranquil and almost Eden-like compound. The rooms are all made from bamboo and other local materials, no unsightly concrete. We got the room...

I spent 2 nights here during my 10 week solo bike tour of Ethiopia. Things I liked ================== The lodge is next to Lake Babogaya in a peaceful small nature reserve, away from the noisy bustle of Bishoftu. For some reason, trucks from Adama and Kenya were mostly using the old hiway 4 through Bishoftu, en route to Addis, instead...

We stayed here 4 nights and much of it was good. We were 2 adults and 2 children staying in a very basic hut which was barely big enough for 2. While in theory the hut had ensuite, there was rarely any water pressure, and for some of the time, no electricity, so we had to use candles. We would...

Only hours from Addis and affordable prices. We switched our phones off, switched our minds off, listened to the prayers nearby on Sunday, the birds, watched the chickens, laughed at the diminishing sizes of dogs and chilled out. We laid in hammocks, under mango trees and ate the excellent fish. A limited menu, prone to some shortage of power and...

The Receptionist service was extremely good. The whole staff were very nice and helpful. The cute wooden houses with private bathrooms are just beautiful and warm. The Lodge is simple and has a limited food menu, but has EVERYTHING for a simple traveler willing to eat local food and who does not expect to have a latte coffee for breakfast...

I had a wonderful 3 nights and the Salayish Lodge and Park! My son and his girlfriend live in Addis, and we journeyed down to Debre Zeyit and found this lovely oasis. The owner was very modest and charming and that was transmitted through the staff! The staff were so helpful and lovely throughout our whole stay. The 6 littles...

A friend and I spent the day at Salayish Lodge as a break from the rush of Addis. We received a warm welcome and were very well treated. We were given a tour of the lodge and park, which are charming and a real oasis of peace and quiet. We had a very agreeable day relaxing in the gardens, enjoying...

Salayish Resort is absolutely beautiful! It is very relaxing and peaceful. I am especially impressed with the service quality. Very tasty goat and fish tibs. I will definitely go back there soon for a more relaxing weekend! However, this might not be the case all the time but the weekend I stayed over, it was really difficult to shower because...

My sister and I stayed here for two nights. The resort is beautifully located, with a view on one of the lakes and the cabins are right in the middle of a big, lush green, overgrown garden so to say. It is a very quiet and beautiful place, but what really makes it great, is the staff. They sometimes literally...

We stayed 2,5 months at Salayish during the autumn of 2013 and we are so happy we found this great place! Salayish has a relaxed welcoming atmosphere, and Ayo, the owner has been so dedicated when creating the lush and diverse garden. The traditional huts blend in nicely in the garden and the absence of cement is a relief! All...
