Detailed Reviews
Loved this hotel. Stayed here for 3 nights on a 10-night trip in western Crete (the other places we stayed were in Chania, Rethymno and Heraklion). It is an awesome location for the big three beaches: Balos, Elafonissi and Falasarna. We didn’t want to stay in Kissamos and this was perfect. The village of Kaliviani has a lot to offer. It is small but has excellent tavernas. If you need a supermarket, pharmacy etc. than Kissamos is only a few miles away.
The hotel has only 5 rooms. All were redone 2 years ago so they feel new. Tile floors, great bedding, new bathrooms etc. with nice balconies with a great view. We left the balcony doors open at night. Can’t remember the last time I work up to the sound of a rooster. Ioannis is an awesome host.
I was nervous that breakfast would not be great as it is a small hotel. However, it was wonderful. Eggs cooked to order. Great bread, fruits, yogurt, honey cold cuts – food that tastes like it should. The only improvement I could see would being able to get a cappuccino in the morning as I am not a fan of Greek coffee. However, there is a great place down the street that does these (Kampanari restaurant / café). Overall a great experience and would be happy to stay there again!

Don't quite know what to say to do this place justice. We booked 4 nights to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, ended up staying 10 and were sad to have to leave.
Beautiful newly refurbished hotel with only 5 rooms, balcony with seaview, excellent mattress and shower, spacious rooms.
Located in a quiet village, with amazing traditional restaurants just around the corner. Short drive to the beautiful Balos and Falassarna beaches. For any hiking enthusiasts, you can walk from the hotel over the hill to Falassarna beach, took me about an hour and a half and the walk has gorgeous views.
Every morning Ioannis would prepare us tasty fresh breakfast with lots of choice. The beautifuly decorated breakfast room with instrumental music and Ioannis 's calming presence was an oasis of peace. Thank you Ioannis, we hope to be back soon 🙏🏻.

We stayed 5 nights in this nice guesthouse and had room number 5.
The owner Ioannis is really nice and helpful with a great sense of hospitality. If you are interested he will give you a lot of great advice. The house just has 5 rooms, all with amazing view overlooking the village until the ocean. Cleaning was superb and bed and the bed linen pretty good. Next to the AC there even is a fan, so in spring or beginning of summer you don't need to use the AC. Safe is in the room. We felt really comfortable and had great days.
Pretty close there are several nice restaurants and Kissamos is about 10 min by car. Right at the village of Kaliviani is the road to Balos starting. So you can be first at the beach if you start early. Another amazing beach is just 15min driving.
Only minus: Would be great to have little breakfast included in the room rate. You can book it additionally for 10 EUR per person. In other area we had it included in comparable room prices. But in this area of Kissamos and Kaliviani the "House" was the best choice.

+1
The hotel is situated in a tiny village, 3 restaurants and a supermarket just outside the town of Kissamos. The setting is ideal for a 2 or 3 night stay. The owner,Ioannis,is a charming man and his communication very good. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. At first I thought the breakfast was a little over priced, however it was a very good fresh breakfast. The area is lovely for walking and has 2 of the best beaches in Crete. Balos beach is spectacular. An 8 km dirt track drive then 2 km easy mountain path walk down to the beach. I believe it's packed in the summer, so April, May, end September and October are an ideal time.

It’s a nice little place somehow in the middle of nowhere in a charming village called Kaliviani. It’s very close to phalasarna and balos beach. There are three nice tavernas around the corner of the hotel. The rooms are spacious, clean, simple but very charming deco. The host, Ioannis, is very welcoming and always available if you have questions or need recommendations for a rainy day. (Or a joke) The breakfast is rich and fresh with a lot of variety - we enjoyed the local pie (offered upon request). Recommended!

We went to Balos beach and did not want to take the boat, but getting there is an adventure in itself! You definitely need a hotel as close to it as possible and this little hotel is perfect for it. Like its name, it feels traditional which we enjoyed. It was clean and quiet and surrounded by some great restaurants just a few meters away. Ioannis was great as well and made our stay more enjoyable. The view is beautiful from our little balcony. You may want to bring some great cheese and wine to enjoy the scenery after your trek.
To get to Balos it takes at least one hour because you have to drive for maybe 20 to 30 minutes on a bumpy dirt road and then a walk down rugged terrain, which is not too hard but because it is hot, it becomes more challenging but the place is truly worth the trek.
We recommend the Gramboussa restaurant as we had a wonderful meal there but there is also Mama's dinner that has good reviews as well.

The Hotel was clean & very comfortable, the rooms were good size. Perfect view of the Aegean Sea off the balcony, which had comfortable chairs & a drying rack. Yanni, the owner was delightful to talk to, very helpful & made us a wonderful fresh breakfast each morning. The little town, 2 minutes walk from the hotel offered several restaurants with good food.

We returned to the familiar venue and the
quality dishes. They created a new garden next. We had artichokes with local butter, mousaka and lamb meat all dishes were of high quality and hearty. We were treated twice as it is their custom. The cost is e20 pp. We will certainly return.

We spent 5 nights in this cozy hotel, 5 rooms only each with a balcony and a spectacular view on the Kissamos bay. Ioannis, the owner, is a very kind and available person not to say very careful about every single aspect of his hotel management. I am getting not only at the delicious made-on-the minute breakfast but also at how the rooms and the whole building are kept.

It’s an easy good place to spend some nights in your way to Balos and other beaches in the west. A simple and made for you at the moment breakfast, as we like, is always appreciated. Rooms are clean, simple and with a view to the sea. There is a nice typical Greek restaurant in a walking distance (almost full even in October). Easy, easy…
