It’s a nice little place somehow in the middle of nowhere in a charming village called Kaliviani. It’s very close to phalasarna and balos beach. There are three nice tavernas around the corner of the hotel. The rooms are spacious, clean, simple but very charming deco. The host, Ioannis, is very welcoming and always available if you have questions or need recommendations for a rainy day. (Or a joke) The breakfast is rich and fresh with a lot of variety - we enjoyed the local pie (offered upon request). Recommended!

We went to Balos beach and did not want to take the boat, but getting there is an adventure in itself! You definitely need a hotel as close to it as possible and this little hotel is perfect for it. Like its name, it feels traditional which we enjoyed. It was clean and quiet and surrounded by some great restaurants just a few meters away. Ioannis was great as well and made our stay more enjoyable. The view is beautiful from our little balcony. You may want to bring some great cheese and wine to enjoy the scenery after your trek. To get to Balos it takes at least one hour because you have to drive for maybe 20 to 30 minutes on a bumpy dirt road and then a walk down rugged terrain, which is not too hard but because it is hot, it becomes more challenging but the place is truly worth the trek. We recommend the Gramboussa restaurant as we had a wonderful meal there but there is also Mama's dinner that has good reviews as well.

Stayed at this hotel in October.after researching this hotel on hotels .com it looked the perfect place for us to stay for two nights as we were visiting Crete .we feel we were mis-sold on this accommodation due to the photographs on the website which showed the Resturant & bar being open which was not the case and we believe was closed for a long time previous .
